11:07 is the moment I saw the shy young Mike that got awkward or insecure before the camera. Good that you haven't changed that much with all the success that you've had. Good video.
l love the way you explain things, slowing it down and explaining it so clearly. Alot of other youtubers I watch tend to talk so fast, and it gives me anxiety watching their workout videos. Thanks Mike!!
Greetings from California. Thanks Mr. Michael Thurston for filming & sharing these excellent training & lifestyles vlogs. Inspirational. Happy holidays from our channel. Congrats Champion of England.
The hang warmup is a terrific way to start your session. .I'm 68, and it has done everything he talks about. Decompresses spine, straightens shoulders and improves grip.
after how long? I've been doing this the past 1-2months and my right shoulder is still lower : p and been doing it a few min per session - although only twice a week so far, will be doing it 4times a week, injured my knee so skipping leg workouts
@@aurelianspodarec2629 Bro if one of your shoulders is always lower than the other, you could have scoliosis. Go get it checked by a doctor, especially if you also get occasional back pain.
I've got one. When using the smith machine, place some blocks or pads under each of the arms then load the plates. Then you can start your set with a heavy weight but you aren't at the weakest position. When you push up the blocks just fall away and you do your set. Only needed when it's really heavy.
Great video Mike! Cuffed Lateral Raises have been a gamechanger and 3.45 is spot on, much prefer setting up Bulgarians with a foam pad on a barbell a bit lower down, far more comfortable! 👍
I always think it’s quite ingenious when guys on gear don’t at least acknowledge the fact why they have the physique. Of course hard work, genetics and discipline always play a part and nothing he said was incorrect. It’s just a half truth. Love mikes content thou
Yeah, he probably convinced himself that what he takes is not steroids but only creatine-like normal stuff. What we can't deny is that he takes PED, what kind of stuff we will never know.
He’s also been training for 15 years consistently mind you. If you’ve got 99th percentile genetics and you train for over a decade you will look fantastic
The word you’re looking for is “disingenuous.” What’s actually pathetic is how people come on to videos like this claiming “PEDs” when they truly have no idea. A) for how consistent and long Mike’s been training, his physique is 100% achievable. Genetics play the biggest role there, and he has great genetics. B) even if he is on something, who cares? He still had to work his ass off to get to where he’s at. People who make these comments are too lazy to put in the work so they just automatically blame PEDs because it’s easier than being disciplined for 15+ years.
Thank you for the upload, I learnt a lot from this one video you clearly have passion and knowledge and you explain it in lay mans terms, I train most days, but not many gains but am going to try it your way.. Cheers Paz
Thank you soooooo much, I'm a boomer newbie and this is sooo helpful! I'll reach my third month of training and I'll definitely use some of these techniques!!!!!!❤❤❤❤
Quick Summary - Mike discusses various gym hacks to boost muscle growth and improve workouts. Some of the hacks that were mentioned include warming up with a simple exercise of hanging from above, using shoulder cuffs or straps when training shoulders, using a belt with a plate or a dumbbell between the legs for lateral raises, and using a foam roller or pad under the back foot when doing split squats. Mike also provided tips for exercises for biceps, deadlifts, grip positioning when doing pull-downs and rows, abs exercises, training legs barefooted, and weak point training. Additionally, the video recommends bringing isolation exercises to the beginning of the workout session, using wrist straps for front squats, and using an app with the best workouts to achieve extreme results.
While stretching is generally great and especially dead hangs have a lot of benefits, they are not at all recommended before a strength workout. Stretching before a strength workout can slightly fatigue your muscles and tendons and lead to worse workout performance and even to injuries.
Yeah I do some of these already but thanks for the tips Mike!! P.S Why not try wear a pair of Jordan12 when you squat? They flat n offer enough ankle support n cushioning ✅
Mike that front squat hack is excellent. I am definitely going to try that hack on my next leg day. Can you advise which brand of wrist cuffs you use. TYVM! PS - I've been following you for about five years now. Continued success!
any tips for shorter stature adults (under 5 ft) please. theres some equipment im not able to use as im a foot smaller every one else there are some i try my best with the lowest adjustments. I get a pump in the end with what can use of a 30 min workout. love your videos.

Hey gents: i'm 18 years old and weigh abt 120 lbs... i really want to get a bigger chest. Do you have any tips in terms of foods & specific exercises. PS i'm abt 5'10 in height
These were great. Definitely going to buy the wrist cuffs for doing the shoulder exercises, I always feel like my form is a little awkward and this could help also the ab sling will work great in my gym the 2 minute hang before and after the workout, I need to stretch out and the split squat trick with the barbell and pad. I always feel off when using the bench, something a little lower makes sense thanks
The wrist cuffs are definitely something I’d look to get as well. Did have a search on Amazon, but I could only find Ankle Cuffs. Does anyone know the Brand that Mike is using? Thanks

Thanks for the tips Mike, have you got a preference on the ab straps you use? What brand are they in the video?
