the whole setting really reminded me of the nursing house of the gods in the kane chronicles. basically a place where gods nearly dead or forgotten (or just senile) go to die/fade. ra's body was there in the book.
From TV Tropes: "Layla is a combination of Marc's comic love interest/wife Marlene Alraune and a genderswapped version of Mehmed Faoul, the second Scarlet Scarab from the comics."
I fully expected them to just cut and the episode to end after Marc was shot. So seeing everything after that had me happy, but absolutely goddamn confused. Hopefully they free Jake in the next episode.
I was the same way. "Good episode, but come on, shooting the protagonist is a cheap 'cliffhanger' when we know there are two more episodes coming." After that it just got better and better.
My theory is that the version of Jake here is going to be very different. In the comics, Steven is the suave billionaire, Marc is the brutal guy and Jake is the regular cabbie guy. Here, Marc is the sleek adventurer, Steven is the regular guy with booksmarts, and I'm guessing this Jake is the brutality. As in, he's the one who's been brutally tearing people apart and neither Steven or Marc knows he's around.
Hey guys.... You had to know SOMETHING was up when they cinematically started the episode with an upside down shot. This of course usually means everything we thought we knew is going to get turned upside down.
History nerd here, can confirm! The second Steven mentioned the Macedonian writing I shouted "Alexander?!" One of Alexander's top generals, Ptolemy (who would create the Ptolemaic Pharonic dynasty that gave us Cleopatra VII), stole Alexander's body after his death and moved it to Memphis in Egypt. Probably as a way to help legitimize his claims of Succession. That was such a hype moment that had nothing to do with Marvel lol
For the relationship part of a person with DID, I guess it depends on each alter the person has. Each of the alters value their privacy. Also, please understand that not all alters have the same age, gender, sexual orientation as the primary alter/host. There are alters that are called “Littles” because they are “children” alters, so you can’t expect them to view the marriage of the primary alter the same way.
How does that work though? Do they literally shrink and turn into a child, or do they just believe they are a child in an adults body (assuming the main personality is an adult)
@@itsmaddogofficial No, they just believe they are a child. Though they might hunch themselves to appear smaller, and their mannerisms will change to be more child-like, there's no actual kind of transformation like a person into a werewolf or something along those lines.

My first thought when he said that's Greek Macedonian was it was one of the Ptolemys, either Ptolemy 1st (Alexander's General who was given Egypt after Alexander died) or his descendants. But no, they went straight to the man himself. Loved it! Makes sense in this world with how powerful he was and his love for Egypt that he was an avatar.
Taweret actually can be seen as a counterpart to Ammit, which also is part hippopotamus. So the one goddess wants Marc/Steven dead, the other one brings them back to life. The whole psychiatry can be seen as sort a purgatory. And Marc/Steven passed the test by not opening the third sarcophagus. Therefore the friendly "hi". But that is just a theory. ^^

That hug between Marc and Steven got me almost crying! So genuine and emotional ! What an actor Oscar Isaac is ! Such a privilege to see him play such a complex character in the MCU, he is perfect as Moonknight
Oscar Isaac mentioned on one of the late night talk shows that he has a brother that did some stand-in work. I wouldn't be surprised if his brother was "Marc" from behind in the scene where Steven is revealed in the sarcophagus.
When he said macedonian, I did not think of Alexander the Great immediately. The first historical figure that came to mind was Ptolemy I, one of Alexander's macedonian general, who was in charge of Egypt and became its pharaoh. It made more sense to me, but it figures that Alexander is best known among the public. He was close second.
I've loved every episode of this show! I've watched each of them multiple times! It feels fresh and not like an MCU property - I also really love Egyptian Mythology!
Have you watched Legion? The TV show about X-Men character David Haller. The last part of this episode has so much vibe of Legion Season 1. The whole season 1 of Legion has that psychedelic atmosphere. So if you haven't seen the show, I think you'll like it
LOVED this episode, even more than the previous ones ! 👍 This feels like The Mummy, these adventure movies in general : a great blend of action, comedy, romance, horror and mystery in exotic landscapes.
the moment the screen ratio changed, I went straight to "omg, it was all in his head??" and then "oh~ we are in his head." idk why my mind was so easily accepting of a simple misdirection. maybe it was because of me watching 'Wandavision.' anyways, it was great episode.
This episode was LIT! So many surprises and winks to reality. I was so excited to watch this with ya’ll, my online friends who actually give a shit and spaz out for this stuff like I do! For a second there when Layla walked into the vault with Alex the Grape and Stephen showed her the relic… I thought she was going to be possessed of sorts, especially after Harrow yelled at her to WAKE UPPPPP.
From what I know about the disorder, they're always very much different identities in one person. They talk about the other identities by their names and in third person, as well as how they take over at different times. The show is actually doing a good job with that but, obviously, displaying it with mirrors and such.
I imagine that the end of the episode is a manifestation of Amit's judgement. Tailored to suit Marc's situation, offering him an opportunity to return with borrowed power from one of the other gods or Amit herself and thwart Harrow's perversion of her balancing act.
For all the complaining about eps 1-3, this episode wouldn't hit like it does if they gave us this flavor from the gate. JUST LET THE STORYTELLERS TELL THE DAMN STORY!!!!
Remember that episode of Batman the Animated Series where Bruce was trying to understand the DID of the Ventriloquist and Scarface; that there were two different persons? Based on the voice recordings? I think you in your something
"I wonder if history nerds were watching him say 'that's Macedonian'--" well I did have to pause the episode and get up and walk a couple laps around the room to get my shit together, so...........yes
Yes, Hector xD I studied history of arts, when Mark said 'its macedonian', I almost said alongside Marc 'Alexander the Great'? But I guess that one was a bit obvious, you dont need to be nerd of anything to get hint of who may be in the sarcophagus. I liked playing last Uncharted game because of that, amount of detail was great, almost always recognised things from exact era and culture they were from, before Drake said it on screen. They put a good effort there into portraying ancient art quite accurately.
Everyone is making the reference to Legion and I understand it, but for me, it was more akin to Mr. Robot. The harsh cut to a different 'reality' without explicitly explaining it to your audiences and let them eventually figure it out on the ride to the finale.
I studied Alexander The Great at school here in Italy (we call him Alessandro Magno and of course we study him since he was a great character in European history) and when I heard the word Macedonian I immediately thought of him and I screamed because I didn't expected hahahahahahaha
You guys - Hector, Adam and Agustin - are here praising the show (which I really enjoy) but the real gem for me is your reaction, how you truly have fun, your jokes which make me crack up. Thank you so very much guys for doubling the fun for me
My read on the scene where Layla confronts Marc about her father's death is that Marc's "partner" was not a person but another personality. When we see the shaking sarcophagus at the end of the episode that they do not open, I think that is the third personality.
Who said Marvel doesn’t have any Oscars😄. We got 2 here. Plus, that last segment at the loco hospital felt a little Legion to me. I’m confident he’ll fit in the MCU now.
God, May Calamawy is too fucking good for this world. But at the same time, I'm glad she is in this world, because nobody else could bring the same life to Layla.

2:46
I was looking away and shot right back to my screen thinking Arnold was actually there 🤣🤣
You guys are my favorite reactors. Kepe going guys! Love from the Philippines
Jake had to be in the shaking coffin and wasn't opened by Steven/Marc. Plus, the way it ended was so cruel. Lol
I felt like it was a zombie mummy. A “zummie”, respectively, or even a “mombie” 😅 blessings guys
I've loved every episode of this show! I've watched each of them multiple times! It feels fresh and not like an MCU property - I also really love Egyptian Mythology!
10/10 for the “LANGUAGE!” Censor alone 🤣🤣🤣
Okay, we need to call out how amazing that Beetlejuice impression was by Adam!!
This feels like The Mummy, these adventure movies in general : a great blend of action, comedy, romance, horror and mystery in exotic landscapes.
the moment the screen ratio changed, I went straight to "omg, it was all in his head??" and then "oh~ we are in his head." idk why my mind was so easily accepting of a simple misdirection. maybe it was because of me watching 'Wandavision.' anyways, it was great episode.
Everyone is referencing One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, but the last half of this episode made me think of Legion, on FX
I've been waiting for this since, like, 2015/2016. I am SO EXCITED.
The sandals were CROCS (Ammit)!
Agustin's reaction to that clicking noise was priceless.
This epilogue of the episode reminds me SO MUCH of Marvel's LEGION pilot!
He gets powered by the size of the Moon. Full moon full power. When it comes to terms with all his other self will become a really good hero.
OMG, what an episode!!!
I have no words.
I want Episode 5 right now!
I need answers for what I saw at the end!
From what I know about the disorder, they're always very much different identities in one person. They talk about the other identities by their names and in third person, as well as how they take over at different times. The show is actually doing a good job with that but, obviously, displaying it with mirrors and such.
Hi, literal historian here, and...yep. As soon as he said, "That's Macedonian," I started screaming. I might have a problem. lol
I imagine that the end of the episode is a manifestation of Amit's judgement. Tailored to suit Marc's situation, offering him an opportunity to return with borrowed power from one of the other gods or Amit herself and thwart Harrow's perversion of her balancing act.
“I thought those were cupcakes at first” 😂😂😂 Agustin pls
I haven't heard a good Beetlejuice impression in a while and damn...Adam really knocked it out of the park.
For all the complaining about eps 1-3, this episode wouldn't hit like it does if they gave us this flavor from the gate. JUST LET THE STORYTELLERS TELL THE DAMN STORY!!!!
This is my favorite episode. SO GOOD. Felt like watching the Mummy.
Remember that episode of Batman the Animated Series where Bruce was trying to understand the DID of the Ventriloquist and Scarface; that there were two different persons? Based on the voice recordings? I think you in your something
Great analysis guys. As always.
"I wonder if history nerds were watching him say 'that's Macedonian'--"
well I did have to pause the episode and get up and walk a couple laps around the room to get my shit together, so...........yes
Yeeeessss!!! This is what makes a good show a good show... Keeps you wanting more. *rubs hands together* C'moooon next Wednesday! 😁
Adam! You know what I’m gonna say Adam! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 🎉🎉
And that end scene was just marvelous
Is it about my RBF again 😂
@@HeroesReforged nay nay. You enjoyed this episode 🙌🏼 it was a welcomed surprise😁
Everyone is making the reference to Legion and I understand it, but for me, it was more akin to Mr. Robot.
The harsh cut to a different 'reality' without explicitly explaining it to your audiences and let them eventually figure it out on the ride to the finale.
Not seen WTF moments like these since Legion. Missed it
Thanks!
Adam is right I think. The real reality is what we've been seeing before the hospital. Also ooof the horror scenes.
I studied Alexander The Great at school here in Italy (we call him Alessandro Magno and of course we study him since he was a great character in European history) and when I heard the word Macedonian I immediately thought of him and I screamed because I didn't expected hahahahahahaha
Quick reaction ..I am here for it ! :) I really like the Moon Knight. it is new, it is different...i love it. Also love your reactions guys !
This episode was by far my favorite. I enjoyed the first 3 a ton but this was like mind blowing.
Get the boys to 100k!
God, May Calamawy is too fucking good for this world. But at the same time, I'm glad she is in this world, because nobody else could bring the same life to Layla.
