I don't know why, but when Marc found Steven, it got me emotional. If you have ever been through any mental struggle that involves talking to yourself, this scene might be very moving for you.
If y'all liked the trippiness of the hospital scenes, you'd really like Legion from F/X, it's about Professor Xavier's son, who suffers from DID like Marc/Steven, but each of his numerous alters have different powers. It's insane
@@shawnpiette5372 gotta disagree, my dude. It was meant to be a jarring and surreal experience from David and the viewer's perspective. It had a pacing problem in season 1 but vastly improved as the character understands what's happening to him, which may have even been by design. It's cool if it wasn't your thing, but it has stellar reviews from critics and fans alike so 🤷🏻♀️
Love this show. It's making me remember my Egyptian mythology. The hippo is a goddess named Tawaret. She's the goddess of childbirth and healing. Since Marc fell into the Duat (the black area after falling into the puddle), it looks like they're in a House of Healing. This may be how they find Jake and Khounsu. (Camels trained by Snoop)
to make it more detailed, Marc/Steven falling even more from the shallow puddle of water meant he went to the Duat aka the underworld. The hospital represents the boat that takes someone across from the underworld to the afterlife (the reason why the hospital was rocking back and forth when Marc ran from Arthur’s office) Meeting Tawaret there meant the other statufied gods (from the first scene of this episode) might be there as well, all banished from the Othervoid
Yeah same. Reminds me of Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan where Taweret was the head of a nursing home in the Duat for all the old, senile and forgotten gods. I loved seeing her cause she is the BEST and she seems like she's gonna be just as sweet as I recall from that story even though Marvel is different lol.
Taweret is the goddess of fertility. We saw her in plushie form (I want one, she’s so cute) in the first episode. Erik Voss of New Rockstars has pointed out that it looks like she might be imprisoned in statue for like Khonshu, her statue is in the opening scene of this episode and we see it in the closing credits. The actress who voices her is listed for the next two episodes too.
The hospital represents the boat that takes someone from the underworld (the Duat) to the Overvoid hence the rocking of the hospital. The hippo is the Egyptian goddess of fertility, Taweret. The fact that she is in this same realm as Marc/Steven means the other statufied gods must be there as well, banished from the Othervoid; we see all other statufied gods in the first scene of this episode, all probably due to Osiris
Thank you! Someone that actually get this! And also, she's the one that make aire that the souls of the dead crossed to the other side safely so, if them want to get back, she's the one they have to appeal to
ABSOLUTE MAD LADS DOING THE LEMIRE ALLUSION. Probably one of the biggest risks the MCU has ever taken and I greatly applaud them for it. I’ve been absolutely loving this series so far, I really hope these last two episodes hit the landing
@Cabo Sneaker SPOILERS BELOW for those who don’t want to read Basically in the Lemire Smallwood Moon Knight run, it starts out with Marc in a mental hospital. He has meetings with Dr. “Emmitt”, some of the workers there are Bobby and Billy (the two from the show), Crawley (long haired guy) and so on. And basically they’ve been telling Marc that he’s been there since he was a child and that all his MK stuff was in his head. Ultimately however, it’s revealed that everything with the mental hospital was an allusion and he was actually in the overvoid (basically kinda like a place of limbo). So Dr. “Emmitt” was actually Ammit, Bobby and Billy were jackals and so on. And it was Khonshu who was creating this allusion in Marc’s mind so that he could meet with him and then take over Marc’s body to “cure” Marc of his fractured mind. Ultimately all of Marc and his alters work together to break free from Khonshu’s manipulation and allusions. So in summary, while there are some aspects in the show that are different, especially since from what we know, Khonsu is in stone. But the ending of the episode is heavily pulling from this aspect of that Moon Knight comic, leaving us the audience in question about what really IS real or isn’t
I have just one hot take that relates to Oscar Isaac: I don’t want to x-men in the MCU because wouldn’t it be weird to see Oscar at his best (moon knight) then go see him at his worst (x-men age of apocalypse) this could also apply to other x-men actors/actresses that might end up in the MCU as another character...
@@carlosjaimez9028 MCU X-men most likely will be different actors. Professor X in Multiverse of Madness is from the Fox X-men universe or another one but the Fox X-men won't be brought into the MCU as far as we know.
4:38 Nah he's speaking facts, it seems weird as hell to say but look at Oscar Isaac's face when he's acting as "Steven" and "Marc" they both have different facial distinctions. When "Steven" is present Marc's face develops an almost lighter tone, his eyebrows become less tense, and he generally has a clumsier way of walking and even running if you watch him. Then "Marc" has a very determined look about him all the time, walks with purpose and when running is a lot more composed.
I’ve been watching you guys for years man, back when y’all was doin captain America civil war reactions 😂, y’all philly superhero’s, keep up the gud work, 1 mil otw👍🏾
My interpretation of what happened at the end of this episode is Marc, Steven, and his other personality (I won’t say his name from the comics for those who don’t know and want to keep it that way) got sent to the Egyptian mythology equivalent of Hell. All the people in the hospital are projections of people they’ve met or interacted with throughout the show BUT the hippo is Taweret, the Egyptian goddess of fertility and life. What I think that means is that Marc, Steven, and Mystery Man #3 are going to have to meet up, come to terms with their situation (at least somewhat), and then Taweret will send them back to the land of the living so Marc can free Khonshu and save Layla from Harrow since she most likely got taken by them after Marc got shot.
I agree with Struggle soldier here. Don’t f*ck with a Hippo. There’s a video of a hippo which killed a crocodile. One of the craziest things I’ve seen. Hippos look chill AF but don’t sleep on them 😂
The people in the mental ward were all people from other episodes. The gold statue guy, the two police detectives, Steven's boss, the passport forger, etc.
Probably my 2nd favorite episode besides Episode 1. This one went full Wandavision in the last 10 minute, to me, when Steve woke up in the asylum reality. Curious to see what role the Hippo lady plays in 5.
I loved the Fight Club, Indiana Jones, The Mummy, Shutter Island, and One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest influences in this episode. Seeing Taweret at the end was fantastic. The visuals in the Psychiatric Ward were marvelous. The horror elements in this episode were also outstanding. The second sarcophagus is another hint at Jake Lockley. Arthur Harrow shooting Marc Spector was cool-blooded. Marc Spector and Steven Grant's interaction in the Psychiatric Ward was a fantastic scene. Layla vs Heka Priest was creepy as hell.
I thought it was a meta reference to Sucker Punch since that’s a movie Oscar Isaac was in and it also has an elaborate story taking place in someone’s imagination
Thank you! Someone else finally saw that the 3rd personality was the one that asked the girl out in episode 1!!! Thought I was one of the few that noticed that 😭
If I remember the comics. MK has several personalities. One who fights like Daredevil, You have Mark who fights well his own style, and a Third Personality who fights with the brutality of Wolverine.
Limbo, my dudes. When Marc got shot; Because he's aware he's going mad. His limbo is in the form of a psychiatric mental ward. P.S. The Hippo Goddess was Taweret. Steven said her name in episode 1.
I think Marc went into limbo the world between life and death and his mind and the Hippo is a Egyptian God that is a protector and rebirth I'm guessing she's their to help Marc get back to life. You guys need to check out Legion it came out a 3 years ago and it's very similar to this show but Professor Xavier actually show up in the 3rd season and it's on Hulu.
Remember back in the first Episode, Steven ran away from the Jackal into the Museum bathroom, He heard Marc call to him, he looks to his right and the reflection looks back and drops his hands, but then he heard a second call to him from his left, and that’s Marc to the left. But I think the reflection to Steven’s Right was the 3rd alternate, whatever the show names that persona...
The VHS tape is a hint to how long Steven has been a part of Marc. He did not just come about at the beginning of the series. The goat they see on the ledge at the beginning was a nod to the god of the Nile from the egyptian Enead. The hippo at the end is the goddess of child birth and fertility. She is also the goddess of rebirth. In mythology she was involved with Konshu. With the gunshots to the chest possibly killing/have killed Steven/Marc he would actually be on a plane of existence where she could interact with Marc/Steven to be a stand in until they can free Konshu. The mental institution is Marc's mindscape is 100% from Jeff Lumiere's run. Everyone up until that point is present in the hospital even up until the poor guy that the clicking monster killed. Tons more easter eggs all throughout. The suspense is incredible! Great episode!
Yea it's all in his mind, populated by all his personalities and all the people they knew. That's why he can meet himself. He probably is in this state while in some sort of purgatory not from Harrow's doing. The hippo is a goddess of fertility, rebirth etc so she will like play a role in them being reborn or healed or just escaping that mental state.
That was not actually the Eye of Horus that they drew, but the Eye of Ra. But there _is_ an Eye of Horus that mirrors the Eye of Ra 🤔. The Eye of Ra (right eye) represents the sun, and the Eye of Horus (left eye) represents the moon 🤔.
This episode they set up the God of Protection, Taweret. Layla said earlier she doesn't need Protection. Also the Eye of Horus, Protection in the Afterlife.
What was weird about this episode to me was that near the end where he dies and ends up in the institution reminded me of Jackie Estacado, whenever he dies he would end up in the institution as well in The Darkness 2 and the people they meet acts differently from their real versions. They both had the same concept. 😁😁

they are in after life and that hippo was a goddess of childbirth and fertility named taweret. i hope she revive marc soon.
Did you two notice the reference to Kang on the back of the jacket of the kid who died rather than talk in the last episode?
You guys are on to something. Maybe the third personality killed his wife’s father !! I didn’t even suspect that until you brought up the third personality
No, Marc's partner killed him. Marc was probably shot trying to save her dad.
@@brettpenning ...So you're saying his third alter shot himself?
Brilliant deduction skills. You should be the real life Sherlock with skills so sharp and adept.
It's amazing that anyone can even be in the same room with your shining intellect.
@@TimedRevolver 💀💀
@@TimedRevolver Bruh what if his third personality killed his father, then Marc tried to shoot himself. That's why he doesn't seem to mind giving Steven the body after his business is finished.
@@brettpenning You're thinking in a landfill. That's too far outside the box.
This one was a madness
Hi guys! It is me again. Nice to see you here on my new iPad.
Confused, terrified, fascinated, thrilled, unsure what is real or not?... welcome to a pretty classic Moon Knight story , lol.
