I've reviewed Fifine microphones before (you can check out my previous video here: • Recording Acoustic Gui... ) and I was very impressed with the quality at it's price range! Well, Fifine has reached out to me again; this time to review the K669 USB gaming mic!
This microphone is only $30, it's super simple to use, and it sounds great on the voice; perfect for podcasts, gaming, or just improving your speech audio for videos. But how does it hold up in a musical application?
With the K669 being a condenser mic, I thought I'd try it out on vocals and compare to my AT2020... well, long story short, the K669 sounds alright at first, but not as good when compared to the AT2020. The K669 is a bit too sensitive for aggressive and dynamic vocals, but if you're recording softer vocals, it actually sounds pretty good.
I also compared the two on acoustic guitar; once again, the AT2020 was better, but the K669 is totally usable.
For $70 more, the AT2020 may be the better mic, but depending on your budget, you may not be able to afford more expensive gear, or maybe you just want something affordable, but high quality enough to get started. In that case, the Fifine K669 is a perfectly fine microphone, and if you take the time to learn how to work with it's strengths, there's no reason why you can't get great results out of it.

Wow! I'm floored by its performance. I recorded my entire RuneScape rock opera on a Samson C01U Pro USB mic. Even though it's a little imperfect, I'm really surprised by how little room noise it picks up. Really solid review.

Thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Fifine really does make some impressive microphones at such a low price range. This was my first time using it, so it was a little challenging for a musical application, but with some experience, you could totally get some usable results out of this mic.

    Is good for singing?
Can we connect to the smartphone with otg cable and record a cover?

You might have to do a little research to find out how to connect a USB mic to a smartphone, but if you can connect it, then yes it would work.
Is it the "best" much for recording vocals? I'm not sure, but the truth is ANY mic could work, you just have to learn how to use it!

why didn't you put some eq and compressor on it or even place it in the mix, the fact is not matter how much someone say something bad about a mic, if that person hears that mic used correctly they would have no idea what mic it is, I use the at2020 for voice overs as well and it sounds great however I can use the Fifine and no one would have any idea.

Normally when I record vocals (with the AT2020), I record through a hardware compressor, but since the K669 is a USB mic, I had no way to do that, so for a fair comparison, I recorded both mics without any compression on the way in. I can say from the recording experience that the K669 was very sensitive and challenging to work with (that doesn't mean it "can't" work, but it's still an important factor to consider).
I anticipated that I might need to add EQ and compression, and I did experiment with some processing, and ultimately, I found the comparison to be underwhelming. Originally, I was gonna show footage of me singing into both mics, but I didn't wanna waste anyone's time with mediocre results. (Also, I do demonstrate the mic with EQ at 7:24)
But that's why at the end of the video, I talk about learning your gear and you can get good results out of it. I know how to use the AT2020; the K669 is new to me. If I spent more time with it, I'm sure I could get usable results, but this is just a review of my first impressions of the mic right out of the box.

@@QuincyKane I was about to answer as to why you would do so as well but would have just been assumptive, I'm glad that's the reason though. I've had a fifine mic sitting about for a long time as a backup and only considering trying it out for a song I'm working on at the moment since I have lost the power supply for my interface.
After watching I think it may be okay for what I need it for and can adjust here and there, I doubt it'll be an issue for the parts I'm planning to record until I get a new power supply (you may be asking "why not just wait?" well I'm glad you asked 'me putting words in your mouth', I don't work that way, I would rather record a really rough version than nothing, I need to keep my creative flow going even if it's just as a template for later).
I only bought that fifine mic for use with the ps4 at one point and never ended up using it so it has just been sitting there like a sad ornament. I'm not one for letting things go to waste, hell I'd find a way to use an empty milk bottle in a song if I could haha.
Cheers for the review though btw, I would normally just be trying it out but the heat where I am is ridiculous right now so thought I'd bide my time by seeing what others thought of it!
