  • Does Springfield's Hellcat Pro have what it takes to push my Floyd's Custom M&P out of the top spot in my conceal carry rotation? Today's video is going to be a bit longer than we usually do around here but for good reason...there is a lot to talk about with the Hellcat Pro, especially with the Holosun 407K.

    Enjoy the honest reviews you bring to the table, been looking at the Hellcat Pro to replace my Glock 43x. I just like the OEM capacity of the Pro compared to the G43x with needing an aftermarket mag to reach 15 +1. The 407k appears to co-witness well with the OEM sights on the Pro which is good because I really like the sights on the Springfield and that would be a bonus. Nice review.

    I have the OG hellcat. Had it for 4 years now. I have about 2k rounds without a malfunction with an apex trigger and a reduced power plunger spring. It’s been a great gun. The sights and the grip/texture is by far the best in the micro class. I also have a p365 as well fyi.

Also don’t hyve have a +3 now?

    Foe years I never considered a Springfield...until I got a Hellcat Pro. It rivals my Sig P365XL for favorite EDC carry. I recently bought a n XDM Elite 3.8" Compact in 10mm for backwoods carry and I am just as impressed. Both have been 100% reliable with all types of ammo. The XDM has a fiber optic front sight while the Hellcat has tritium. While they are not optimal for longer distances or bullseye shooting, these old eyes have found this system to be the best I ever used for fast acquisition. I guess I am a Springfield convert.

    • @Sirgromulus
      @Sirgromulus Год назад +2

      @@801tb They are virtually the same size and although each has a height listed at 4.8", that measurement on the Sig is at the front of the backstrap. The rear actually slants up about 3/16". I suppose the Sig may be very slightly easier to conceal for that reason. The Sig's grip is "rounder" vs. the slightly boxier grip of the Hellcat Pro. That being said, I find the Hellcat fits my hand slightly better and is somewhat easier to grasp in drawing from appendix carry. I have relatively broad hands but short fingers and have no issue with the grip of either gun. I can see how someone with very large hands (and long fingers) like Mike would prefer the Hellcat Pro vs. the P365XL. I can't imagine too many people having an issue with the Hellcat Pro's grip. Both are great guns and I suggest anyone interested in either to handle and preferably test fire each.

    • @360TacticalSolutions
      @360TacticalSolutions  2 месяца назад +1

      Oh thats a HUGE difference. G19 is like a brick compared to the HCP. The 1” profile of the HCP makes it so easy to carry. People try and get the shortest barrel and grip length guns to help with concealment but none of that matters. It’s the guns thickness that really determines comfort and concealment.

    • @StrongBull417
      @StrongBull417 Месяц назад

      The more I train with my HCP the more I like it. I was looking at either a X Macro (none comp), P365XL, G43X, and HCP. To me the HCP is a mix of the X Macro and G43X. Perfect fit in hand. I think it’s cool that the X macro has 17(+1) but I thought it would be more difficult to conceal, for me. HCP feels like I’ve known it. 👌🏼 all I need now is an optic and I’m good.

    I just bought one from a friend who needed some money to fix a boat. I never wanted anything but a glock because I’m in law enforcement and that’s all we shoot so it’s what I’m used to and trust. I only bought the hellcat pro because I wanted to help my friend out. I just shot it and I might be swapping it out with my glock 43x for edc. The only thing I didn’t like is the trigger but it’s not much different than my Glock. It fits better in my hand and the sights are better. Never thought I would like a hellcat and actually talked someone out of buying one before!

    • @360TacticalSolutions
      @360TacticalSolutions  Месяц назад +1

      It's funny how that works. I honestly wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it either. After a couple range trips it grew on me really fast. It's been just over two years and I love it more and more every time I shoot it. The aftermarket support just keeps growing and the following for this gun has become massive. I would highly recommend taking a look at the Apex Type3 trigger. It makes a huge difference. I have a ton of HCP videos in my HCP playlist including some videos on the Apex upgrades. If you are interested in a better trigger that can be trusted for reliability...Apex is the way...and if you use 360TS at checkout you can get a price break as well.

      @@360TacticalSolutions awesome! Thank you, I will definitely check it out. I also want to figure out what kind of optic to put on it that can still co-witness with the sights. My 43x has a trijicon rmrcc with an adapter plate that makes it so high I can’t seem to find suppressor height sights to work with it. I don’t know much about optics because I’m new to them but I figured I’d try a holosun or something on this one as long as I don’t run into the same problem as the 43x

    • @360TacticalSolutions
      @360TacticalSolutions  Месяц назад +1

      @@brightbkh07 Holosun 407K, 507K or EPS Carry are going to be the right size but will require an adapter plate. Adapter plates are less than the thickness of a credit card but will reduce cowitness. Most of the direct mount red dots arent going to be something I would trust my life with. The 407K on the other hand, Ive abused it and I trust it as much as I would an RMR. Cowitness on the HCP isnt great but honestly I’m ok with that. I go to the range and shoot a couple mags, remove the battery and do a few drills drawing and firing. I find that with my live fire and dry fire my muscle memory has tuned in enough I can point shoot with a more than acceptable level of accuracy. As far as how much of my irons I can see, I can see enough that if I really do need to use the iron sights I can make do. Statistically speaking, most people arent really going to use their sites when they need their gun anyways, its going to be a point and shoot kind of day

      I dont have a video on that one. Ive been asked a bunch of times but I dont know I’m going to spend the time and money to buy one and test it. The new “comp” version really is just ported…the name is stupid lol. Their design is a complete copy of the Monsoon Tactical port for the HCP so any reviews on that will sum up the new comp version. I have something much better on the way for the HCP but I cant give it away yet. By end of July is my guess.
      As far as this new comp version of the HCP goes, I think it’s a good value. It costs pretty much the same as a standard HCP and you retain the factory warranty. On the flip side of that I do think there are better options…even if those options cost a bit more and void the warranty.

      The XDM Elite, like the 3.8” 10mm? I haven’t tried it but I wouldn’t buy it for home protection. I have the 4” 10mm M&P and I don’t know that I’d like a much shorter barrel than that….the recoil can get real snappy. Also I’m not a fan of Springfields grip safety. It’s not as smooth as a 1911 grip safety. My other apprehension is 10mm for the house. I use mine for outdoor stuff. Bears and shit. I would worry about over penetration with the 10mm in a home defense situation. That’s just me though. So far this Hellcat Pro is my #1 gun right now and for me that’s saying something

    Asking a question explicitly that you alluded to in the video. With the Holosun installed on the plate, you can still cowitness the irons, at least enough to use them as BUISs for the red dot? I had thought the plate raised the base of the red dot high enough to fully block the irons. Is that wrong?

    • @360TacticalSolutions
      @360TacticalSolutions  2 года назад +3

      So I can see like 25% of the front sight when I use the iron sights. It’s enough that when my dot lost zero I still managed to put 100+ rounds down range and effectively stay on target. You really don’t need a full view of the iron sights to use them and like I said in the video, the plate doesn’t raise the dot enough to make the iron sights unusable

    • @360TacticalSolutions
      @360TacticalSolutions  Год назад +1

      Not at all a stupid question. What's stupid is being inexperienced and not looking for advice or guidance from people who have experience. Micro red dots like the 407K aren't magnified. When you use them you want to keep both eyes open and focused on your target. With both eyes open, focussed on the target you then want to move the red dot into your field of view so the dot is on the target. I'll be doing some for beginners type content on my second channel and this is a topic I'll be covering.
      Best thing to do is dry fire practice once you have it installed. Get a lot of dry fire in so you can start training yourself to not search for the dot. It can be fairly frustrating at first because you can't find the dot or it moves all over. The dot moving is nothing more than an exaggeration of your movements. Iron sights do the same but because of the way your eyes focus when using irons you don't notice it as much as a red dot. Be patient with it. Lots of dry fire practice before you go live fire with it. Most importantly don't hesitate to ask questions of people who have the experience

      @360TacticalSolutions  Год назад

      Actually there is a comparison video that im working on the outline for right now. Its been really hard to keep to a recording schedule these last few months. My first piece of advice is to find a rang that has rental guns and test fire both of them before making a final decision. S&W really dropped the ball on that 3.6" M&P. The slide dimensions are only smaller in length, not thickness. The grip is the same way. Its slightly shorter both in its over all length and from its top down to its magwell area. The thickness is no different than the 4" M&P or even the 5". The 3.6 handles really well but it feels like a full size gun in ways that it should feel like a smaller gun. If you want light weight and an extremely thin carry profile then go with the Hellcat Pro. If all you really want is a 3.6" barrel because its .4" shorter than the 4" M&P then you will be happy with it. In my hand, how it conceals and how it handles on the range isn't different enough for me to go for the 3.6 over the 4" M&P. Hellcat Pro is still the winner as far as my needs go

      Thanks. I put a link and discount code in the description for the C&H adapter I use. As far as co witnessing goes I can see enough of my irons that if I really need them I can still use them. No it’s not a full view but it works. That being said, my opinion….co witnessing is bullshit and people spend way too much time focusing on it. I trust the Holosun because of my experience with it as well as other peoples hard core testing. If it goes down it’s not a big deal. The vast majority of legit self defense situations where it’s justifiable to use your weapon happen at extremely close range where you are going to need muscle memory 1000x more than you need iron sights or a dot for that matter. I actually take the battery out and do a few reps drawing and firing that way so that I can assure I will be able to quickly draw and fire without the need of sights if need be. A lot of people turn their nose up at using an adapter plate because of cowitnessing and it really doesnt make any sense. Use a dot you trust, keep a fresh battery in it, practice shooting with no sights and you are good to go

You can but the snap caps on amazon..the fake bullets, training rounds. Put a couple of those in a mag and just keep working that slide release button over and over. Maybe release it on an empty mag a few dozen times and then do it with the snap caps in the mag a few dozen more times. Once you get it broke in everything about it is smooth…other than the trigger which I just want to replace with an Apex the moment they go on sale lol. Hope that helps. The pull weights are also adjustable on the apex so if you want a lighter or heavier trigger you can change that. They feel smooth when you operate them. There’s no gritty or chunky type feeling. @@arthurwood7525 Ok so I spent my down time today researching it. I would personally 100% pass on it. Kimber is famous for two things and thats quality and a high end price to match. While this one falls in line with the same pricing as the Hellcat Pro, its specs look like its more along the lines of the Hellcat. Its everything I dislike about pistols that size. Inadequate capacity, short barrel that will create too much recoil, grip that my pinkie won't fit on without a mag that has a pinkie extension. These are all reasons I don't like the S&W Shield, the Hellcat and the Glock whatever random number they assign to their pistols that are too small for a human hand lol.
      All these guns have their place....just not in my gun safe. I genuinely feel like if you hit a range and rent one that size and you can get groups of 5 shots in a reasonable size group then any one of those guns will work for you. If it feels good, fits your hand and you can get a minimum of 5 rounds in a decent size group while firing somewhat quickly...buy it for sure. To me though there are a dozen of them in that category these days but there is only one Hellcat Pro. For me the advantage of the higher capacity, grip that fits my hand better and a more smooth and manageable recoil under faster fire...thats something that I don't see in any of the other guns on the market.
      Bottom line is never buy a gun because of how it feels in the gun store or what some buddy says about what some dude on the internet says about how it performs lol. Always always get some range time behind it. My review, other peoples reviews and opinions should be nothing more than data for you to take in, points you may not have considered while looking into a gun before test firing it. I bought the Shield without having shot it and knew the first mag that I hated it. Everyone on RUclips just raved about it so I figured ok this things going to work for me. It felt good in the hand in the gun store but actually firing it was the worst.
      That being said, and a bit long winded...if someone I know happens to pick one up Ill for sure review it but I can already tell It won't be a good review lol. Probably not the response you were looking for but I hope it helps

      The p365 I believe holds 10 rounds where as the Hellcat Pro holds 15. The Hellcat Pro manages to do this without having to have mag extensions for a place for your pinky finger to go. Size wise it’s really close, of course the Hellcat Pro is slightly larger but it carry’s the same. The huge difference is how these guns handle. The Sig is considerably shorter and has a very snappy recoil feeling that I don’t personally like at all. Good luck firing all 10 rounds from its mag quickly and hitting your target all 10 times. The Hellcat Pro handles really well with its 3.7” barrel and I genuinely don’t think anything beats it

    • @360TacticalSolutions
      @360TacticalSolutions  4 месяца назад

      For me the shield plus doesn't check off any of the must have boxes. The short barrel and grip don't really do anything for concealment. It carries no different than my HCP which I have a full grip on and a barrel thats a little over 3 1/2 inches. In fact the short grip on the shield plus only allows my pinkie a place to sit when using the 13rd mag (two rounds less than the HCP) which means I have to break my grip during mag changes. Also it's got a 10 and 13 round mag. None of this makes sense. They could have made a 3.6" barrel shield that has a longer grip and flush fit 15rd mags, basically a copy of the specs on the HCP but that would totally eliminate the need for the shield line. Then theres the fact that the shield plus isn't optic ready. I mean theres a version that is, I think...but every HCP is optic ready. So if you want an optic you are set, if not thats cool too. Kind of like the lack of accessory rail on the shield plus. A lot of people use a weapon mounted light, a lot of people don't. It wouldn't have been hard to just make a rail on the frame and then people can have the option for a light if they want. People talk about the Shield Plus Performance Center and how it's the ultimate conceal carry...but even that one misses the mark. Same short grip with a 10 and 13rd mag, no accessory rail. The thing they did right with that one was optic ready, ported and barrel length...but it's still not a comparison to the HCP. Sadly I don't think S&W will ever figure it out and put together a better concealment gun

      @360TacticalSolutions I get that I carry with a 13 rd mag I pretty much just use my 10 as a range mag. I have the optic ready version. Idk I had the he'll cat and hated it. Started carrying the plus before the hcp came out but I have so much faith in my plus and shoot it extremely well. Plus i have magguts turning my 13 into 15. I know oem is better but I put over 1k rounds thru before using it as my carry mag. To each their own man but great review. I guess I'm just with my plus because I completely trust it and how I shoot with it.

In my hand it's uncomfortable and I struggle to get good groups with it, the G19 for instance. That doesn't mean it's a shit pile, that just means it isn't suited for my body mechanics and shooting style. On the other hand the 4" M&P 2.0 fits me like a glove, my Shield Plus was the exact opposite and only lasted me a few months before I sold it. It can be. I would say that whatever gun you want to use for home defense…train with it. Take a defensive pistol course with it. Take it to the range once a week and put 50 rounds through it so you are comfortable and familiar and know how the gun handles and aims. The Hellcat Pro has a 15rd capacity so in that aspect it’s similar to a Glock 19 which a lot of people use for home defense. Like I said though, the gun has to fit you and you have to practice in order for it to be a viable option

      Well first I want to say that I would never condone people breaking their local laws…so if you carry it with you concealed that’s at your own risk. That being said I will say the Hellcat Pro conceals very well and handles close to the way a larger gun would. I know that Springfield just released the Echelon which I think will be a great improvement in many ways. That gun gives you the ability to have a fully modular system similar to what Sig has. So you can buy different grip sizes for different uses making the one gun able to actually serve as many guns. If that Echelon is available to you definitely take a close look at it, if not I would pick the Hellcat Pro

      The Hellcat Pro is a great gun, amazing for conceal carry. My advice about your first gun would be to not take anyones advice as to what to get for your first gun. Find a range that has a rental program as well as does conceal carry training. My local range does a training where they have a dozen different guns that you practice with under the eye of an instructor who also shows you how to use them safely. At the end of it you can look at the selection and say ok these guns don't fit my hand, these guns do fit my hand, here are the ones I was most accurate and comfortable with during the live fire sessions...NOW it's time to pick one to buy. The bottom line is what works for one person may not work for the next person. Testing a gun is the only way to know for sure. These reviews are really just so that you can get more information to take into account when looking into different guns but always always always try and get some range time with a gun before making the purchase

The Hellcat Pro has a shorter grip length which aids in concealment as does its thinner profile. The two guns are a match with the advantage leaning slightly toward the Hellcat Pro.
