* I will forever be indebted to you, you have changed my entire life and I will continue to preach on your name for the world' to hear that you save me from huge financial debt with little investment thank you very much Expert Sophia
Hi Casey I discovered your channel yesterday. Im a newbie crypto investor since October. I literally live near the beach in Thailand . The online work I was doing for 4 years dried up due to strict regulations by the Chinese gov. Now Im starting out in crypto looking to create my financial independence. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Aloha.
Casey, can you put together a vid on how best to take profits, please? Maybe use a model portfolio to demonstrate the process and what to look for to trigger profit-taking. I think it would be very helpful to a lot of us to understand the when and how of it. Thank you in advance for that and I want to thank you for all the help and advice you provide. You are awesome!
YES. 100% agree. I watch the profits go up and then right back down. Never knowing when I should take profit. I end up just doing exactly what you are telling me not to do...watching numbers on my screen.
I'm so happy I found you along my journey with this incredible new technology. I'm so sorry for you and your family loss. It's powerful how those kind of losses can force you to appraise the value of what's truly important, and actually precious. Wonderful advice. Thank for your authenticity, Casey. *hug*
This is sooooo true! I was being diamond-handsey and watched my profits go back all the way down to breakeven, and then back up and down and up and down... Regret not taking profits. I have a different outlook now. And this video only reassures it. Thanks, Casey!
I'm the flipside. In 2017 I was heavily invested. Around 20k in Bitcoin when it was around $800. Life and job changes forced me to sell when it went up a little and take profits. Now the regret eats at me. I didn't lose anything, I made a little. But knowing how much I missed out on is forcing me now to never sell, but hold. Some of us have the opposite story.
@@roadrunner9622 ah, but how to know what is the right time. In my mind, i'll just let it sit, and buy more on the dips, until it hits a number that would truly be life changing for me. Before that, I don't see the need to cash out for something frivolous.
@@roadrunner9622 You have a point. I'm just going to hold as if it's my 401k. Till I'm ripe and old and see what happens. This time it's disposable money not vital.
@@roadrunner9622: Yes, but what is "the right time?" I did iterate once buying a bit more near the bottom at $39k. I guess if I'd sold a bit at $60k first, I'd have made more if I'd have reinvested that. Too much trouble. I don't have BTC as an investment anyway, but as a safety net.
It's so true that you only have a finite amount of time. I've got a knee injury that turned into one of the most painful conditions known, CRPS. It's something that no amount of money can fix (for now). I'd kill to go skiing again!
Regarding Bitcoin, why sell a superior asset to buy a lesser asset? Just borrow against the superior asset up to the amount that keeps you below the maximum drawdown (20% of net for Bitcoin). Then you don't pay taxes, you still get to enjoy the benefits of your gains, and you take minimal risk. For all other crypto assets I think your advice is sound because the max drawdown on everything except Bitcoin is 100%.
Could you maybe make a video for us new investors on how to properly sell and collect profits correctly (taxes ,losses ,gas fees) ? Thanks always great information non the less
I don’t have much to spend on crypto but my initial few ££ is now over £1000. I even spent £25 on shiba inu just before the boom, when it nearly tripled to £70 I took out my initial £25 to reinvest in another coin later.
Started learning about Crypto with Casey, and now I can say this video makes me think I will end this cycle with her too. Glorious cycle we are in...but take.profits.or.die.
Talk about perspective. Best crypto advice on RUclips. One man's paper hand is another man's profit in hand. Thanks for sharing your personal story. Subscribed!
So when you say take profits, do you mean take anything above your initial investment, leaving the initial investment in to create more wealth? Or do you sell everything, and reinvest when it dips low? I am an extreme newbie, and that has been one of my Q's.
Thank you for this video! I'm glad I found you. As a woman It's good to see other women in crypto I can verbally understand and relate to. Keep up the good work 👍

Sorry for the family's loss hun. This was my fave video yet! Its rare to gain this type of insight from someone else's journey (ie. You and that of your aunt's) 🍻🍻 Here's to having enough to never need anything!
Regarding your personal story. My wife is a breast cancer survivor. There is a saying: “Ever day is a gift….that’s why they call it the PRESENT.” Keep up the good work :)
I believe you're talking about the economic concept of utility. In economics, utility basically means happiness. What are my personal goals and timeline? What is the balance between instant gratification and balancing risk for long-term goals? Your video is very compelling and well stated.
Thank you for this extremely valuable tip! Can you explain why it's hard to do that in different mindsets? Does it have to do with the poverty mindset?
Heartbreaking story! It's 100% true that no one knows how much time we have on this earth. Objects don't count...important people do and if we can leave some for the one's we leave behind all the better.
Thanks for sharing your story, Casey 👍🏼 Also, should be nice that you explain how to be prepared with an exit strategy. Inexperienced people (like me) need to practice the proper way of selling crypto when market gone mad and everyone is trying to sale using collapsed centralized exchanges.
Great points - you put the sometimes myoptic focus of investing into crucial context: why we are doing this anyway? To live better, and to have more opportunity. Thank you.
"Take profits" means paying taxes. If you HODL long enough that your crypto makes $40k a year you can retire (assuming your lifestyle isn't based off more than 40k/year). You can pull $40k a year of long term capital gains without paying taxes, which is equivalent (depending on where you live) to about a $52,000 salary. Even if it's all in BTC you should be able to pull this off with $200,000 of BTC, assuming you're getting a 20% a year increase, which is pretty easy. So I'm not sure I agree with the "take profits" advice. To me not having to go to work anymore is more important than taking profits and buy a car with it and blowing the rest.
I bet you now that we've experienced a 40 percent correction in all of crypto, taking profits doesn't seem like such a short-sided viewpoint does it? Now that your HODL has lost 50%.
@@miyu545 No, because HODl means hold on no matter what. We have these corrections all the time, it will go back up. I'm way ahead in profit anyway so I'm not worried
Here a tip: Take profit and sell the exact amount of what you need for 1-2 years expenses( rent, food and other fixed costs we have in life) like that you’ll better not having everything exposed. And you can always buy more if the market starts being Bull.
No, the idea is to take profits whe there is a healthy even slight increase, and be ready for a dip to buy back in. Either by getting more crypto, or just buying as much as you already had.
Everyone pursues happiness differently. For me I am holding my Hbars until they are fairly valued. I sold a few on the way from 1 cent to here and even though I am 72, I am happy and comfortable. Selling and taking profits will make me miserable as I then watched it approach and then exceed fairly valued which is far north of here. I think a "Everyone pursues happiness differently" video would make perfect sense because the teacher always learns more than the student.
First time watching your videos thanks for sharing your knowledge and personal exp. Really put things into perspective. Very sad what happened to your aunt hopefully your family is staying strong.
Thanks for the great video. I just went to your BC link below but I’m confuse how to use. Could you do a video on this ? Also please do a video how to lend BTC. Thanks
Thanks for sharing your personal experience on taking profit. Interesting to hear different opinion on current state of crypto market. I have a wide spectrum from bearish to bullish of those people that I trust and follow. Thats a good thing. If everyone is bullish or bearish at the same time, then I start to get anxious.
Wow...I'm speechless. I've been a diamond hand hodler for going on almost three years. Of course, now is a terrible time to take profits (because there aren't any LOL). But watching this video (I'm in my 50's) has completely...I mean completely stopped me in my tracks. I'll definitely be pulling profits next time they show up. And I have to say Casey, it's this type of content that sets you apart from the others and why I'm a new subscriber. Again thank you.
Just found your channel, love your perspective and knowledge. Some great advice in this vid, I have a similar story to what you describe and I am in the process of building back up again. It really rekt me mentally but i am doing ok now. I look forward to watching more of your vids 👍😎
My biggest dilemma is always when to sell . Do you have a strategy for taking profits? Do you have a price target before buying? I would love to learn from you!
Jeez, it's kind of humbling how many people were able to dramatically improve their lives by investing in crypto. I haven't had that level of success yet because I can't really take on that level of risk with the limited capital I have, but it would be wonderful if I saw a similar outcome in the next 10 years.
Hey Casey! Thanks to this video, I might start taking profits. I'm so fixated on the future 5-10 years from now. With that, I might miss everything in the present. Thank you
Agree with taking profits. Very important to have a profit-taking system in place you stick with. Just remember that every time you sell, you'll owe the taxman. It doesn't matter if you reinvest those profits the next day; you'll still owe on the first transaction barring any loss to offset those capital gains. Something to keep in mind.
First time watching your videos, you are a special breed of a human being, not arrogant, humble caring person a real rare commoditie these days ,wish you all the success in your ventures.
I definitely needed this video, was having hard time deciding what to do. Me thinking, " I can definitely pay off the 10K left on my car loan this bull run for sure but I'm in it for the long term..." Yea.....I'm taking profits fam lol!! Thanks Casey!
In order to take profits to spend on a good thing such as travel, one must first sell one’s crypto ! After the holiday one has neither the profits nor the crypto. ! Casey should update this video to propose that one should NOT take one’s profits ( meaning all the profits )- one should take only 50 % of the profits so that after spending those profits one still has the remaining 50% ( in the form of crypto ) to participate in future profits.
What if you can't take profits, because you cannot afford to pay the taxes? Some of us can only HODL, therefore we have to choose coins/tokens that we believe will increase in value.
This the first Crypto content that brought me to tears. I love your videos. Thank you. This round I WILL take profit, pay my hubby back for our original investment money. and spend some on self care, like dental work, after 20 years of putting family first with everything i have,, I can use some TLC.
Hey, I lost my wife earlier this year and after staring at my numbers on the screen for a few months, I’m starting to give some of it away to organizations I admire. Your episode makes some very important points. Thanks
I understand, Brother. I lost both my spouse and mother this year. I found the only way to dig out of my grief was to help others. Just as the Bible says. May God comfort and strengthen you on your path.
I stopped again at 1:58 and I also agree that u have to look at the coins that have infrastructure and a business plan and not just a meme coin. Yes u can make a lot if u guys right but it seems the safe strategy is to look for companies building and actual company
Thank you for this video. I’ve also lost those I love and learned, the hard way, than life is precious and should be lived. I’ve been hodling and needed to hear this. Thanks again! …and of course I “liked” the video.

What if you can't take profits, because you cannot afford to pay the taxes? Some of us can only HODL, therefore we have to choose coins/tokens that we believe will increase in value.
my deepest sympathies to you and your family. thanks for sharing
Thanks
Sorry about your loss.give yourself some time before making an emotional decision you may regret.
Casey, speaking of taxes can you do a "this is for educational purposes only" about capital gains and taxes. For instance, tax bracket, holding investing for a year, 37% fed tax etc???
Yes please this is a very much needed for the sell strategy. Thanks
Great advice and needed to be voiced! Thank you:)
Crypto cassel: help me understand then. Countries like China.......are banning crypto. How do you explain this?
