No more excuses test Jonathan Price's D4S Bluetooth speaker. No way it is 40 watts without some trickery. Even with the trickery I doubt more than 15 watts. His amps are great, but that speaker sounds like a cheap 90's boom box for that price point. For $100 to $150 you can get a HK studio 6 that has a low end. Still not a bass head speaker, but at least it has some bass. Like Gail Banks and his air horn, I know its bs and no one will call him out..... Are you scared to test JP's speaker cuz you too know its bs. I still buy sht from both, but the trust is lost... I know eventually I am gonna fall for the hype of another terrible product at some point.
I guarantee you it sounds far better than the radio in my '49 Hudson. What a cool test! My god you can piss away 11 bucks at McDonald's nowadays just on the value menu.
You surprised me with this one. That was a great review. I'm wondering if these types of reviews would be worth doing a frequency response test as well? 🤔
That radio shack box and gold battery just gave flashbacks of a better time. The stereo option would sell it for me. They don't sound bad on my headphones
@@tatialo37same here.. Fun fact, I couldn’t afford a real VIPER car alarm for my Ford Escort GT. But Radio Shack had a 12V blinking LED light in a bezel, and a toggle switch I could afford. Believe it or not, that blinking light kept my system in my hatchback.
@@iamgriffor its possible that you were fortunate in those days & nobody was going to break in your Escort GT period... Kind of hard for you to know for sure that little blinking red light on the toggle switch was the reason your car did not get broken into.
Imagine connecting that to a Klipschorn or PA cabinet with >105dB 1W/1M efficiency! Could hide that inside a Peavey SP2 and use a larger LiPO Battery to mess with people! 😀
If I'm not mistaken that BT chip also includes DSP, which has likely been set to get the most out of that little driver. So I'm guessing the bass is probably cut at low frequencies and rolled off as you turn the volume up. So, I'm surprised it actually sounded pretty decent when you connected the internal amp to those external speakers.
Audio gear is funny, especially at the low end. The technology has advanced so much that, as long as it works, most of the time it'll sound pretty good. It is a bit of a lottery but I've found unbranded, cheap as chips IEM's that sound amazing and also many that sound like crap too of course. It's usually the speakers/drivers that let them down while the amps and other circuitry is fine.
Big D workin' with Mini Me speakers... Derek, these little babies were so cute! Could be added to your tiny Christmas village display as a huge boombox 🔊🤣Thanks as always for the great content.
Have Received and been Beating on them for a few days.. Truly Amazing for the size, Sound Quality is Stupid Impressive & actually provides Heavy Bass for the size. Amazing the Highs & Lows these drivers are able to reproduce. Even at the higher price of $17 each now, Still worth the money imo..
Those little things will power just about ANY speaker under the sun. Assuming a SINGLE lithium battery, fully charged will supply about 4V to a speaker. at 4 Ohm thats about 4W. 2 Ohm which is popular with bassy BT speakers will get you about 8W. DSP trickery for the little 1.5" speaker is making the full size speaker sound kinda boomy. BT speakers DSP's USUALLY add lots of bass boost at lower volumes and roll off as volume goes up to compensate for the smaller driver Also, the $11 speaker powerup sound is a straight rip off JBL. sounds EXACTLY like my Partybox 300.
Luv these vids! Those speakers remind me of the ones in the Echo Studio. I wonder how much power they can actually handle. I bet it's more than 5 watts.
I ordered 4 when they went on sale just because I thought looked cool so it was a nice surprise when I heard it for the first time. You know im gonna try to get all 4 playing for some sweet surround sound.
Bought one, and came today. It makes the same noise jbl speakers make when you turn them on.🤔 super good quality made! Deff bass heavy, but super cool. Of course I bought for the spectrum analyzer lol.
Man this is a great video.... I love how impressed you are for a cheap and small small device sounding as it does for its size. I always love a simple, but good design that just works well and even a tiny speaker can put out some sound.... imagine what you can do with a huge setup that is well designed and setup well..... doesn't need to be expensive to blow your socks off! I find it easier to work with older components to tie together and jam without delay issues or compatibility concerns.... just takes a little thought you configure properly. Have a wonderful day Big D!
I'm one to say, at $11 there aren't any cons. Bluetooth controls AND and aux hook up? Maybe for $12. Thanks D. Takes me back to using the Walkman and the wires to a busted set of headphones to power an old Pioneer speaker.
Watched your video when it came out. Went and purchased 2 of them and am happy with them. Lot of sound out of these boogers when paired. Can not get much better for size and price.
Just got mine in yesterday. Played with a little bit last night and a lot today. This thing is awesome. It's back up to full price which is $17 and some change I think. I probably wouldn't pay that unless you just want it for the cool Factor. There's definitely better speakers for 20 bucks. I really wish I would have bought 2.
Shame its bluetooth, otherwise you could use a pair on your pc, stereo over bluetooth is laggy as hell, thats got a JBL chip in it, it makes the same noise on power on.
Swap out with that tiny subwoofer you tested a while back. If you need or want more content like this. Oh, and try powering it with that teeny tiny amp you did that video on. Potentially some fun stuff. 👍
I have a pair of these and you accidentally saved my life here, because you paused on a shot of the manual open. My partner somehow knocked mine out of their coupled mode and all the instructions I found said you needed like a 10 second long press of the M key to re-bond them. Nope! It was 2 seconds and that actually seemed to make the difference. Now they're happy again and so am I! They're fantastic little speakers for the money! Great review, glad you liked 'em too! :)
14 sec, my bare butt 😅.. YOU CHEATED, you hesitated before choosing the unit 😂.. Aaaanyway, thank you for spending your time providing the rest of us with both informative and funny knowledge 😇
Cheapest speaker 🔊 I found in a discount store was the Yoco brand model Y318 for $12 cad, it cheap, it sounds cheap, looks cheap and functions cheap, surprisingly it sounds somewhat ok with it's 3" full range driver and cheap LED party 🎉 lights but overall ok speaker if you want to go on the real cheap side 😅
I purchased this exact same speaker from Amazon, albeit at a slightly higher price, with free Prime shipping. As small as it is, it DOES sound pretty good for music and voice. The ONLY negative is that it does not have a volume control. Oh well.
I had one of these to review from Amazon, the seller was asking £40 for what is a terrible £7 speaker (at best). The sound was atrocious - hollow sounding with terrible boxy laughable bass. It was just AWFUL. It went in the bin after 2 days. Anyone who rates it well should definitely get their hearing tested.
That’s a cute little speaker. About a decade ago now I had one of those tiny all in one BT speakers. BT, FM radio, SD card and so on. It was stupid loud. I wouldn’t mind having one of these. Really want something with aux input too though, that’s a shame. 😢
Limitations in speaker diameter and poor sound quality of Class D amplifiers. If you can change a 5-watt amplifier to a class AB type, you will see amazing sound quality.
If you knew a little about audio you could have hooked them up to some high sensitivity horn speakers with a Fostex driver which often deliver 100dB per Watt
if it cost 11$, then all the production and administration to make it, and ship it, makes its value less than half of that. There is no magic to manufacturing and sales. I would imagine that it works like any 5$ BTooth speaker
My 30$ Logitech desk speaker powers a pair of 12" subs in each in it's own 4th order enclosure on channel 2. On channel 1 I have 2 6.5 coaxs, a 5.25 coax, 3 soft domes, and 2 3" full ranges on channel 1. Had it all laying around, saved some cash lol
with theese little speakers you first put max volume on your phone and than hold the button on the speaker that increases the volume and you can acces the full power.

Fr for 11$ this lil speaker isn’t the worst option it’s actually not bad

What a cool little speaker. Love the little VU metre and TWS pairing. The transparent case looks great, pretty cool to see the circuit board.

Yes it would

Actually it Thumps pretty good even at full volume... Have ran a Bunch of hardcore bass tunes through including from Bass Outlaws.
The DSP could also have a clip limiter (that limits the signal just before clipping, meaning clean sound)
It could very well be using an ADC
May I ask why it cuts the low f bass? Because speaker coil cannot handle?
