Boreal forests are found in northern countries that have long snowy winters. Most of the trees that grows here are conifers, such as pine, spruce and larch.Instead of flat leaves, they have thin needles that help them save water and resist strong winds.Their branches slope downwards so that snow slides off.

Very true. Canada's boreal is home to 100s of native communities where 80% of the people live, such as myself. Winter also comes quick to boreal, halloween hasn't happened yet and my community is aready snowed in with feets of snow but its home and its beautiful.

.4% per year... so in 100 yrs... 40% of boreal forests will be gone... we've been harvesting for more than 100 yrs already.. that has to be the most devious misconception purveyed in the video. Alberta recently added 1.36 million hectares of protected area in the lower Athabasca, precisely because of concerns for over harvesting.

first of all, it would be incorrect to say that in 100 yrs 40% of the boreal would be gone because over the span of 100 years quite a bit forest is going to grow back. also, this video is from 2010 maybe the statistics have changed since then.
