I believe this love story deserves a nice Hollywood movie....
check out Roman Holiday, it's inspired by this love story.
@@AN31DO01RR96 indeed ? Thank you
The Queen's Sister but not a good film
The best love stories, even if it’s a love lost is the one last sacred thing that shouldn’t be exploited.
I must admit i didn't appreciate s5 like the previous ones, but Peter and Margaret's scenes in ep.4 were heartbreaking.
My favorite throughout season 5
@@juanchoresultay2704mine too
yes same I'm didn't appreciate season 5 the best season is 3&4 for me (for character Princess Magaret) and season 1&2 for The Queen and The Prince Philip
@@smitive yes, i agree.
@@cristinademartini1284 the season 5 is too much focus on Charles and Diana
I am very touched by this story....
I think the real Countess of Snowdon would adore this video and cherish it as much as we all have. 🌹
I don't think Margaret ever got over Peter I think she was broken for years after he was forced to leave her Do I think the Queen wanted to separate them I don't know I don't think she wanted to do but I think she had to
I hope she is with him in paradise
PETER WAS THE LOVE OF PRINCESS MARGARETS LIFE.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ GORGEOUS COUPLE ❤
Their story reminds me of the lyrics from Ghost by Justin Bieber.
Love❤❤❤
If you look at photos of Townsend, he bears a striking resemblence to Margaret's recently deceased father George VI
Princess Margaret made mistakes and suffered heartbreak, which may have contributed to her drinking, and dying before her mother. Still, 'The Crown' should reflect reality, e.g. why the UK has a monarchy. Monarchy shouldn't be used as real-life soap opera, nor just as material to fill space in the media (since Elizabeth II's death there has not been much thought about why she matters).
Since the 1700s, the British monarchy has been a huge, tangible power for peace in the world. This achievement should become clear in comparison with the histories of other countries. In the 19th & 20th centuries the U.S.A, France, Germany, Russia, Italy, Spain and Greece suffered in various ways civil wars, political storms, and dictatorships. This shows what can go wrong in the absence of a head of state which is above politics, and which opposes illegal dictatorship. If there are many reasons England, Wales, and Scotland have had no civil war since Culloden in 1746, having a constitutional monarchy to unify all the people is an important reason. In the UK, 'peace' in formal speech is "The King's Peace".
This video should reflect how the monarchy is constitutionally separate from the organs of government. It was not Baldwin's fault Edward VIII chose to abdicate, nor is it fair to blame the monarchy for the Amritsar massacre in India, the Black & Tans in Ireland, or any of the mistakes British rule made in the world. The great value of the monarchy is to provide unity and stability in a way politicians can’t. Canada & Australia were given self-government under the British crown, and they have avoided secession and civil war (so far).
Of course King Charles III's marriage to Diana was a tragic mistake; the failure of Princess Anne’s & Prince Andrew’s marriages also show Prince Philip & Elizabeth II made mistakes as parents; Philip could be publicly tactless. Whatever mistakes the royal family have made, let us be grateful for the unity the monarchy gives. By stabilizing Britain & the commonwealth, it promotes peace in the world. The sea around it didn't protect the U.S.A. against civil war in the 1860s, and the UK could have suffered civil war over slavery in the 19th century; likewise over world war, loss of empire, economic failure, or race in the 20th. There will always be political violence and problems in the world, and billions of people who know or understand nothing of the British monarchy and the stability it brings. Since the 1700s, billions of people have lived under the British crown without civil war, lynching, dictatorship in their lives. God save King Charles III, and his successors.

Unfair as it is, Margaret did have the option to be with Peter give up her titles and salary. It was a big ask, but it was an option.
What she also didn't know was that Elizabeth worked with Anthony Eden to devise a plan for Margaret to keep both but keep her kids from the line of succession, which didn't matter anyway.
While there are speculations that Margaret may have fallen out of love in the two years they had apart, it was still unfair this was not ultimately now made known to her. They got the answer they wanted and they decided Margaret didn't have to know that anymore.
She was only 25 with no real education. Unlike Harry, she couldn’t just leave and keep many of the benefits of being a “former” Royal. Times were different. Marriage would have been the loss of money, security, and most importantly- Proximity to her family. Which was always big with Margaret. She did what most people would do in that situation.
However, I’m certain there had to have been *some* resentment there. She and Peter, whatever their feelings, were both long conned for two years. No matter their thoughts about the breakup, the way they were led on (missing out on years of their lives) was just cruel.
pls tutorial for the quality 😭😭😭💓💓💓💓
This is not the "Woe is me" story that Margaret and the history books made it out to be. Margaret was told that she could marry Peter, but only if she gave up all of her royal priviledges and her place in the succession line. She refused to do that on her own accord, and broke up with Peter instead. SHE MADE THE CHOICE.
So basically giving up herself, her life, her name and essentially her duty that she was raised on her whole entire life?
Have you sacrificed your identity before?
@@ktgbw Get real: she actually was going to be allowed to keep her HRH title. She would've lost nothing except her place in the line of succession: that's all. But apparently that was too much for her.
To be honest Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth RIP would have allow her sister married Peter Townsend
Which episode is the scene at 2.08 from?
1x08
In my eyes she is nothing far from camila (who people love to hate because guess what she is ugly🤣 while people love margaret because she was pretty)
No. We hate Camilla because of what she did to Diana. That she is ugly is a bonus. 🤣
She never mentioned Peter or Tony for that matter on desert island discs.
