Very astute. I was the same way and I'm still hesitant about being a fan but...Fritz has improved A LOT over these past couple of years. Taylor use to say that he was "obsessed with the number one" and I guess we all know where he's trying to get to. If he can beat the Great Nadal tomorrow, he just might get there some day.
Fritz keeps improving and what I really like about him is that he doesn't seem to have the on-court tantrums that many of the younger players are prone to. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but I haven't seen clips of him acting a fool.

I think Rublev’s 2016 season was the best thing that ever happened to him. He went from the top ranked junior, to barely winning matches on the challenger tour, it definitely helped his attitude.
This is why he has so many friends on tour. He is just as competitive as the rest of them but he can seemingly turn it off in an instant when the match is over and he's back to his gracious nature.
It was a pity for Rublev failing that volley in the net at the end of the second set, he had done a great match and this mistake geared to Fritz to the victory. However, the tournament for the Russian was amazing, he improved his tennis in every single match and reached the semis, which is not easy to achieve at this high level and competitiveness there are on court.

I was never in to Rublev until I saw how funny, nice, and an incredible player he was in person at 2021 Laver’s Cup. I’m now a big fan, but I can’t help cheering for the underdog Taylor Fritz! American men’s tennis needs some new inspirations so hopefully he’ll win his slam next!

its only now I realized how graceful Rublev in defeat, I initially thought this guy was rude but I was so wrong....
He used to have on-court attitude problems but he fixed himself, resulting in his performances improving.
