I was one of the guys who was adamant about heat not working for me. My beard is Kratos thick and has curl to it. Between practice, length, and training of the hair, I can just use a blow dryer now. I appreciate your videos they have helped me learn. Because of the tips you gave, I can get my beard looking good much faster.
I've been growing my beard for a little over 2yrs now i feel like it has taught me to have alot more patiences and that saying alot coming from someone who has little to no patience on certain aspects of life lol mainly because when i started i thought i would give up growing after a couple months thanks dan for all the knowledge you've imparted on me
About 4 months back I started using a heated brush most days and definitely a game changer. I have about a 6-in beard that I use oil heated brush, then a good butter most days
For me, your best advice has been that we each have our own unique beards and have to find what works best for our own beards. For me, I am learning that a combination of blow dryer and heat brush works best for my medium beard. While videos from you and others have been very helpful for studying grooming techniques, I learn the most from the Wednesday night Beard Advice. The experience and insight of the couple of hundred people participating can’t be matched.
I never thought I’d blow dry my beard but, I went ahead and tried it just before Thanksgiving.., Game-changer and now part of my daily beard routine for sure!🤙 Thanks Dan, as always for the awesome tip and all the other great suggestions and advice 🫡🇺🇸
I'm a blow dryer guy. The blow dryer affords me a fuller more natural appearance and I have become accustomed to using it. I am in the market for a new one and have been casting about to find one that isn't too large, has a low low speed setting with warm heat, plus an easy to use cold shot. I currently have a Blown dryer that I discovered has some short comings. I have a Kuschelbär heated brush and I have only used it a hand full of times because it gives my beard a thinner appearance and more transparency toward the ends.
Another great video Dan C. I have a pretty good S wave on each side of my face. The top goes forward to the chin and the bottom goes toward the ear. I find it helpful to comb, with the blow dryer, the entire amount of hair on the check backward, to fight the curve coming to the chin, then comb just the bottom half back to the front, to fight the curve going to the ear, and finish it by combing the whole cheek downward. Another thing to keep in mind, there are only 365 days in a year. So if someone styles EVERY day, with no breaks, that is only 365 attempts in a year. It will take some time to figure out what is needed for your beard, and then to become an expert at styling it that way. Like so many other beard related things, styling is a good exploration into the art of patience.
I have a short beard as of now....( 3 months of growth) no heat as of yet but I found out that if I use 2 combs to style I can get the look im looking for much easier then with only one I slide the first finetooth comb up into the beard and take the second wooden finetooth and comb down. Then once im done with that spot pull straight down on the 1st finetooth comb... alot of work but for my short beard works great 👍 haha but on the heat side of things my wife has natural VERY straight hair so she doesn't use or own any hair tools other then combs and a brush.. lol same for makeup never really uses it unless its a date night or she just feels like she needs it.. haha she's awesome! Please keep up the great work Dan! Your truly teaching me alot! And I appreciate every ounce of it!
I am sporting a 12 inch beard, have used both heated brush and a blow dryer. Both work good for me but have discovered I am better off without either, some good beard oil, some good beard butter or a good beard balm, a good comb and a good brush and I am good to go.
I have both a blow dryer and heated brush. All the popping and crackling going on with the heated brush scares the hell out of me. I have learned to use the blow dryer after a lot of practice. I much prefer the blow dryer. Spend a little time , I use a round brush. The longer my beard gets, the more I can do with it...the better I can make it look. Thank you DanC, you are definitely the TEACHER!!
When I do use heat I comb up everything in front and on the sides out of the way, and heat brush the under the jaw and neck stuff, then lay down everything and heat brush that, essentially brushing in layers from inner to outer. Works fine
I use my heated brush daily on my medium beard. I find the trick for me is to brush in all directions with it. And most importantly finish with straight up and then lightly down to get the volume that most lose with a heated brush. Works for me anyway.
When i want my beard to be fluffy i use the heated brush when im going for the more natural look i use the blow dryer on a cool setting. I have a extremely tight curly beard( im black) it’s really hard to manage. I found that cool air from the blow dryer is best for styling for me. After that i throw in some balm to hold it there
I have been using a heated brush but recently switched to a blow dryer with a no 8 chicago comb and it's a game changer. The combination of the comb and dryer makes it look fuller.
Ima blow dryer guy all the way. I just picked that exact one up on dans recommendation and its the best! If you have every had your beard shrink back up after blow drying this one doesn’t do that. Its a very quality product and i love it!
Hey buddy! I just discovered your videos and am most impressed. I've just joined the beard community and am grateful for your helpful and kind instruction. Looking forward to learning more from you.
Just like Dan c said it depends how you maneuver the equipment, blow dryer give more volume and straighter hair than a heated brush also use it before I put on the oil or butter after shower
I have a 5" beard and I've been using a heated brush for the past 2 weeks and I think it works great for me. Though I've noticed that I'll get a very large gap above my adams apple if I comb underneath my chin. although it can be fixed by bombing back the hairs, I'll just get large spaces between the hairs instead. A blow dryer and comb can be hard for me to control since I have a condition that makes my arms twitch a lot and my fine motor skills aren't great. But the heated brush works great for my needs.
If i want a poker straight beard, I use the vikalon beard straightener. If i want a fluffy beard, I use a blow dryer with a 1 inch round brush. I use the straightener for the flyaways
Really good video Dan! I really liked your video where you showcase using the heated brush, and the blow dryer. I really like how my beard looks more natural when using the hair dryer, and then I target the mustache and side burns with the heated brush, for a great overall look.
I have a medium/long beard. I find on days when my beard has a little more volume than i would like. I use tge heated brush on my under beard to achieve the style I want without getting the stick beard look. Reduces volume while leaving the outside looking natural.
Blow-dryer for my long beard. You're right that a long beard doesn't need to use the beard straighter. I do not like to have a pin-straight look. But lately, I haven't used a blow-dryer for like 3 months now. My beard's weight is much easier to style and lays down straight easily without having a poofy look on the sides. Great video, Dan! 👌🏻
I use a hairdryer, only because that is what we have. Thanks Dear. Otherwise I like to use a small round brush to twirl and pull the beard hairs as I heat. I have a wave near the bottom of my 4" (so far) beard that drives me crazy and the round brush is the only thing that allows me to work it out properly.
I use the heated brush for my 5 inch beard. One technique I use is that I high heat brush it in the opposite direction to be worn. Once the beard is dried, then I brush in the direction to be worn. Beard is nice and straight and lasts all day long.
I think so, Dan. Now if I could only get a better understanding about the beard getting in the mouth. Is that normal? I don’t mind the wind blowing around but it can be annoying when it’s in the mouth, especially the longer the beard grows.
I’m four months into my yeard, so I’d say I’m maybe medium’ish length, at about five inches. Without some sort of straightening, mine just gets this ball of hair on my chin, with finger waves on either side. I have a heated brush, but it alone doesn’t give me the results I want. I run that at around 380°, and only make three or four passes. But I use both hands, with the brush in one and my beard comb in the other, “following”, behind the brush, (if that makes sense). This method, with minimal passes gives me a nice, natural look. Now, I realize this is basically the same method/action as using a hair dryer....but it is less noise as Dan said, aaaaand I bought the brush so I’m gonna use it. So there’s that. BEARD ON FELLERS!
I work in the glass industry (distribution, delivery and service), so a labor based job. I also go to the gym 4-5 days a week and to top it off, have a daughter that's almost 10 months old. Needless to say, my beard takes a beating. I found that at my medium length, a blow dryer works the best for styling. I use it before work in the AM on low fan speed, at the highest heat setting and end with the cold shot. 1-2 times per week, I'll use my heated brush as a sort of reset to get any kinks and/or knots out. The brush has 3 heat settings (150, 170 & 190°C). I use 170° and it gets everything STRAIGHT!
Another good one Dan. Thanks ... I use a blow dryer daily in my routine. With the beard getting longer I’ve learned that I really don’t need much heat. I’m good with a warm setting. Using a Chicago #8 comb helps with volume as well. I use the blower dryer, barrel brush and 2 different combs for my routine. It’s all fast and productive.
The heated brush makes mine go "TOO" straight... I've also been going for more volume and not as straight, less is more approach... I was really hoping the brush would work due to it being quiet as you mentioned in the video... I use a technique similar to your beard blow out video... I know that's going to be a surprise to hear... 😆
I have a medium to long length beard. My beard is quite thin so I have to use a blow dryer. Heated brushes make my beard look thinner and more see through. But as Dan says with a dryer I get more volume and my beard looks thicker.
I've tried both over the years and it really boils down to the situation or time for me. If my kids are sleeping, I'm using the heated brush. If they're up already, I'm using the blow dryer. I can achieve similar results with both. I have a really big beard.
We have that same dryer 😁. I prefer dryer over heated brush but like you said the heated brush is quiet for those days the kids are still sleeping when I get up. Great vid man 👊🏻
Thank you for this vid and also thanks to all the guys who have commented below . I don't grow my beard because it's unruly as looks like a birds nest and density varies greatly with some bald patches which are never hidden by the time it gets to 4 or 5 inches so i always end up getting rid of it before it gets long enough to fully cover them. Instead i just keep a long goatee which also helps elongate my face and con people into thinking my face isnt as fat. But because it curls and frizzes so much i always end up getting it trimmed once it gets to about 4 inches long because i hate the straggly look. My barber always ends the trim using a dryer and brush and i always like the look so had been contemplating buying those. then i saw heated brushes and thought about those and was googling dryer vs heated brush and found this video which has been a godsend. I now know that given its current trimmed length and the fact (i think) i want it ultra straight i will go for the heated brush. Whilst sparse each hair is ultra thick so hopefully the problems of it needing volume wont arise but if they do and as it grows longer because i can straighten it i can get a dryer and brush as well and use a combination of both. But i do have a question - because my greying is very patchy rather than even salt n peeper, and because of rogue ginger patches, i use beard dye from time to time (not all of it and with different devloping times for some patches to keep some grey in and keep it looking more natural). Does anyone have any experience in how heated brushes or hair dryer and heat work with dyed beard hair? Are the dyed portions going to react to the heat and straightening differently? Are bits with more dye going to react differently to bits with less? If there is anything i should be aware of or tips anyone can share related to that it would be greatly appreciated
I know at one point I will just like I did with my hair For my goatee the problem is I have a huge grey patch right on one side which at first glance makes it look like there is no goatee there and the whole thing look uneven So I only use a little dye in places like that - as the grey spreads more and looks more even I will stop
When I use a blow dryer, I feel that I add static to my beard. I feel it's too frizzy most times when using a blow dryer. I do however notice a more fuller/denser look when using a blowdryer. I usually find using a beard straightener does best given my location due to humidity, weather etc. I do recommend giving your beard a break from heat regularly. I find it helps heal brindle hairs and your beard sorta rehabs and usually tends to look even better when styling it with heat after that break from heat. Heat+Tension=direction 100%agree, KANSAS+Wind+Blowdryer=Bad Static Electricity lol. Awesome video Dan! 👊
Great topic brother... esp with all these companies putting out heated beard brushes lately. I have both blow dryer and a heated brush. I tend to stay short/ med length beard due to work ( medical field). I do my beard in the morning and we have a 3 y/o so sound is definetely a factor but i agree that i can get roughly the same result with both. With a hair dryer i like to go med/ low heat and pull the hair down with a comb and to straighten the beard. Input the blowdryer right above the comb as i pull it down and it works really well. I also curve/ twist the comb away from my face to keep tension on the beard hair as i gently pull it down whicb def helps straighten it better. Hope this helps fellas 🤙
I use a heated brush I have a medium to long beard but as I brush I will brush one spot a couple of times to get it hot and then I will pin it against my chest with my hand and kind of look up so I'm pulling the hair tight straight and hold for a couple of seconds and that really straightens it out really good. Also before I use the heated brush I comb it out real good and get out all the tangles and then I use the heat brush on the bottom of my beard first the under beard I mean I comb it all out and then I come back and go down with it and I pin it against my chest and pull lightly
For a natural more filled look on a long beard I go with the hair dryer. 1st blow downward after applying oil, then upward in a directions, & finally style with a Kent 16T using the cold button feature. The wind can blow the beard all over throughout the day but nothing a good side to side shake and the 16T can't fix cause the beard stays fluid with minimal products. Also use Detroit Grooming butter at night.
Baboliys is a top notch blow dryer. Sorry about the spelling. Need the cold setting I feel it’s very important. I’m new to blow drying so I love this video.
Ive grown out my beard for almost 2 years now.. I've been using a heated brush. I haven't been using oil before the heat. I have a lot of hair that falls out. Maybe about 10-15 a day. I feels like too much and it shows. Sometimes I want to cut it. I'm thinking about starting to use a hair dryer and use oil more frequently. The night oil is a good idea.
I use a heated brush when I want to control or style my beard. I found that if I use the heat and brush from my ear to my chin first I get all the hair going in the same direction and then bush it down in the direction I want it to stay. I always us balm after or else all that work was for nothing.
After I use the blow dryer, I always make a quick pass with the heated heard brush. I'm not sure why, but that quick hit with the heated beard brush takes the softness of my beard to the next level. It's like running my fingers through air!
Awesome video Dan. I have a medium beard. I have noticed with the fine hair on my beard the blow dryer is best. Volume and ability to style. The cold shot at the end has been great guidance from you. I noticed it helped lock in my style. If I don’t use the cold shot I notice my beard gets frizzy and longer for the balm/butter to lock in. Heated brush makes my fine hair look awkward and thin.
I prefer the blower for my beard, the brush gives me a thin and wispy look. I do use it on my nappy head hair though! Maybe i ll give it a try with less times and strokes, mine only goes up to 200 but more than enough for me 🤷🏻♂️
Since I’m back to working and wear a mask practically all day I don’t use either since the mask will cover my beard. When I’m not working I will use the hair dryer and at least once a week I’ll use the heated brush. Hair dryer works great to tame the stache.
I'm probably medium right now, but I've used a blow dryer for everything from a business beard to my yeard. I'm not a fan of the heated brushes. Haven't been able to get a naturally straight beard with it yet.
I like the name dancey. You are now dancey to me in the most possible affectionate way lol also the blow dryer way is really the way but id add people need to brush their beard in different directions along with the comb
I have never used a heated brush, but I do use a blow dryer and round brush everyday on my beard, it gives me the style I like ( and if t ain't broke why fix it? Right? ). I have issues with hair growing in different directions ( cowlicks as my grandma called em ) and they're very noticeable when my beard is in that awkward phase, which for me is between 1 and 2 inches in length. At this stage I take more time on a higher heat setting getting my beard as straight as possible to give it a more uniform look. As my beard grows out between 4 and 6 inches I'm able to use less time and a lower heat setting which gives my beard a fuller and more natural appearance, also the added length and weight of the hair helps pull the dips and curls out a bit on its own ( the Trusted Teacher has covered this in another video, do yourself a favor and look it up ). Hope this helps someone!
I have both. I mostly use a blow dryer tho. I started off using a heat brush and as my beard got more dense and long. It also got more curly and wavy. The heat brush is good. It gets my beard straight and nice but the blow dryer I can just make it look how I want it a little bit better. Once I learned the coordination with the dryer and comb/round brush it was awesome. I still use the heated brush every so often but day in and day out I’m using blow dryer. But when I have those days I really having trouble getting my waves out from my cheek and my chin. I go in with the heat brush at the end just real quickly where my waves are and I go up against my face a few passes. Then down and it usually always works just fine for me! Awesome video Dan!!! Thank you for this!!
enjoy your video i growing my beard long and its still straight at the moment but i think it could get bushy so i check out your video and read evryone comments i dont want to use a beard straightener brush if i can so i go with the blow dryer first see how i get on if not try the brush thanks love your videos find them helpful i from England
Great video Dan. I use a blow dryer every single day and at my beard length it doesn’t take but 1-2minutes. Not a huge fan of the straighteners for me, I don’t like that stick straight look.
I have only ever used a blow dryer for my beard. It's at about 6-7" at any given time. The biggest thing I've learned along the way is to use the bones in my face to stabilize the brush and the hair to get my beard straight.
I've been using my heated brush alot and I want to get away from using it and go with the blow dryer styling method because of having a more natural look but if I don't use some kind of heat it looks like a birds nest. The heated brush does give you that needle look and that's something I really hate about using the heated brush. I'll get back with you on how this turns out using the blow dryer. Great videos as always Dan 👊
I find with some B Butter brands you almost have to use heat or else it feels like your going to rip your beard out, until you get it all combed through. Nice video as usual sir!
Hey Dan. I have a short beard about 2 to 3 inches and I have pesky curls on the side. Started using a blow dryer. Should you apply a balm after blow drying?
I have a medium/long beard and I have good luck by using a heated brush but only on the underside of the beard, it straightens the parts that need it and leaves texture on the top/visible layer. I'm still working on perfecting using a blowdryer but I do see where i think it will be better once I learn it.
I like the blow dryer better for sure, but I do use my heated brush to knock out my massive chin wave if I’m in a hurry. Oh, Molly watched this video with me, and she says the cold shot helps lock in style by closing the hair cuticles.
Great video Dan! I use a blow dryer almost daily, I have got it totally dialed in and it works great. I only use my heated brush once in a while to fix my chin dip, but that’s about it. The blow dryer is a must for myself, really changed my whole beard game up to the next level! 👊🤘
Hey Dan. Great video as usual!! I use both. If you’ll remember I’m usually concerned on my beard looking thin. The hair dryer and blowout technique works well for me most of the time however I probably use a brush most don’t use. It’s a plastic vented brush. I use it after I’ve combed through with my Chicago 8 comb. My vented brush gives me more tension and of course grabs more hairs than the comb. I use boars hair bristle brush on my mustache and soul patch. I do use a heated brush once a week or so to help single out my chin dip and help perk up my under beard too. I use very low heat though. Too high of heat makes my beard too straight and looks a lot thinner.
I bought an Aberlite and it goes from 300 degrees and up 300, 340, 380... I find I mostly only use 300 as 340 even seems a bit much. I only use it a few times a week and hindsight 20/20 I would have gotten a blow dryer.
Another great and helpful video as always. I have both a blow dryer and a heated brush. I use the heated brush almost daily going in all directions but have a little problem getting it dialed in under the chin neck area.
I did try a heated brush for a while, but it made my beard... too straight? It also feel like it sacrificed a lot of volume for length so it ended up being very thin and wispy. Now I just use a hair dryer, my curling brush, and my daddy mitts.
Some days, shower, oil and go. Some days, blow dry, some days I add the straightener brush after blow dry just to get rid of any weird dents. Just depends how I feel that day. I like the options.
@@DanCBearded My wife just told me she'd like me to take the trim off about 6" option lol. Not yet, I'm going for terminal and I'm just short of a foot long now 😁
I have the Axe 2.0. I don’t use it very often. I don’t have a blow dryer. Thanks Dan. 8 comments but only 2 thumbs up. Smash that thumbs up icon folks.
I really don't try to style my beard at all anymore. I own a kuschelbar but my beard looks ridiculous after using it. Oil and a Chicago #8 is all I use. Occasionally I will use a blow dryer with the Chicago comb. If I try to style my beard any other way I end up extremely frustrated, feel like I've damaged my beard from going at it too much while trying to fix the messed up look, and end up just wanting to cut it all off and start over.
Have you ever tried to use the Kbar to address certain areas? I have really dialed in to using my heated brush on my mustache and sideburns recently, and I am lovinggg how my beard looks lately.
@@DanCBearded I haven't, but I like the idea and will certainly try it! I can see how it might actually benefit those areas for me. Especially the mustache. I have a few hairs in my 'stache that like to go their own direction and I end up having to cut them, so I think it'll help with that! Thank you for the advice, it's much appreciated! 👊
Dan! Use oil before electric brush? I put on the typical protector that women use before using the iron and then I used the oil. Is it a good idea to use the oil first? As I see that the hair must be 100% dry...
@@DanCBearded I been practicing what you said to do and I'm getting better with the brush. The beard is starting to look better to, thanks for the helpful videos and live streams.
I know not everyone has time in the morning but I find a simple hot shower works best. Apply oil and comb it. Finish getting ready and add either butter or balm and hit with a boar hair brush. Works for me.
Trusted Teacher=always rocking the advice. Question, does it matter if you wait too long after you put oil in beard to use heat? I use a heated brush due to the blower being too noisy. I have a business to medium beard without heat and more medium with heat due to curls.
In the process of blow drying your beard with the oil in there, what happens to the oil as it is being heated by the blow dryer and does it make the hairs softer after blow drying as opposed to just applying oil and leaving it to absorb into the skin without using heat?
The heat speeds up the absorption process. I do not notice the hairs being any softer after heat. Just mainly for style and to help reduce tangles/snags
@@DanCBearded But I experienced something when I'm in my car driving with the air conditioning on. My beard hairs feel much softer when the cold air hits my face.
My life has gotten so much better since growing my beard! I love this brotherhood!
A beard can truly change your life

I started out with a heated brush, I like the more natural look so I switched to the blow dryer. Love the look it gives my beard

I like the blow drier better with a medium grey beard . Lays it down good when you hit it with the cold air after and stays better styled all day
Cold shot is key!
Man, I really love your approach to hosting your channel. Truly glad I found this channel through watching other beard stuff.
Thank you so much Nick! I really appreciate that
About 4 months back I started using a heated brush most days and definitely a game changer. I have about a 6-in beard that I use oil heated brush, then a good butter most days

Such a good device! Not cheap, but you get what you pay for
Blow dryer with thick oil for my beard. Tried heated brush but made beard to stringy. Always go with what work best for your beard.
Rock what YOU got, absolutely!
I have both. Prefer blow dryer but the brush comes in handy when traveling
Great points!
Hey buddy! I just discovered your videos and am most impressed. I've just joined the beard community and am grateful for your helpful and kind instruction. Looking forward to learning more from you.
That’s awesome to hear! Thank you for the kind comment 🤝
Just like Dan c said it depends how you maneuver the equipment, blow dryer give more volume and straighter hair than a heated brush also use it before I put on the oil or butter after shower
Thank you brotha!
Fantastic video Dan! I can see new beardsmen absolutely loving content like this. Very helpful. And that purple backlight is fire!
Thank you Alan! I hate looking back on videos without the back lights now lol
Thank you for the feedback Nicklas!
If i want a poker straight beard, I use the vikalon beard straightener. If i want a fluffy beard, I use a blow dryer with a 1 inch round brush. I use the straightener for the flyaways
Options are good!
Really good video Dan! I really liked your video where you showcase using the heated brush, and the blow dryer. I really like how my beard looks more natural when using the hair dryer, and then I target the mustache and side burns with the heated brush, for a great overall look.
Thank you! Each tool has a purpose
@@DanCBearded Definitely! Each can be used by itself, but using them together is even better 🙂
Thank you Billy!
Heated brush for me when my beard was short. Blow dryer now except when I have a horrible bed beard then I use both on that day.
Spot on!
Inspired me to try heat again. Feel like heat has never worked for me. But like you said. Trial and error, don’t know how to do it “yet”!!!
I took a few weeks off from heat, and I regret that I did that
I use a hairdryer, only because that is what we have. Thanks Dear. Otherwise I like to use a small round brush to twirl and pull the beard hairs as I heat. I have a wave near the bottom of my 4" (so far) beard that drives me crazy and the round brush is the only thing that allows me to work it out properly.
That is awesome Allan!
I use the heated brush for my 5 inch beard. One technique I use is that I high heat brush it in the opposite direction to be worn. Once the beard is dried, then I brush in the direction to be worn. Beard is nice and straight and lasts all day long.
Sounds like you have it dialed in!
I think so, Dan. Now if I could only get a better understanding about the beard getting in the mouth. Is that normal? I don’t mind the wind blowing around but it can be annoying when it’s in the mouth, especially the longer the beard grows.
I have a medium beard & I use a blow dryer 2 or 3 times a week. I like the result.
That sounds like a good balance!
Sounds like you have it dialed in for your situation!
@@DanCBearded What are your thoughts on the ZERO blade attachment for the Brio Beardscape? I'm thinking just for detailing my cheek line.
I go back and forth. To the the heated brush is easier for me but the longer my beard is getting it’s getting harder to use. Great video Dan. 👊🏻
Very interesting! Thanks for the feedback Josh!
haha blow out video!!
I have a medium to long length beard. My beard is quite thin so I have to use a blow dryer. Heated brushes make my beard look thinner and more see through. But as Dan says with a dryer I get more volume and my beard looks thicker.
Thank you for the feedback!
I've tried both over the years and it really boils down to the situation or time for me. If my kids are sleeping, I'm using the heated brush. If they're up already, I'm using the blow dryer. I can achieve similar results with both. I have a really big beard.
Spot on with me my friend!
We have that same dryer 😁. I prefer dryer over heated brush but like you said the heated brush is quiet for those days the kids are still sleeping when I get up. Great vid man 👊🏻
This dryer was a huge upgrade from the cheap $20 one I had, and it was well worth it!
The biggest tip I can give, is embrace the greys. Truly! Dye is so bad for the beard and just isn’t worth it
I know at one point I will just like I did with my hair
For my goatee the problem is I have a huge grey patch right on one side which at first glance makes it look like there is no goatee there and the whole thing look uneven
So I only use a little dye in places like that - as the grey spreads more and looks more even I will stop
Love the hat. Matt’s a great guy!!!!
Love me some Matt!
See you tonight Bobby!
@@DanCBearded For sure!!!!!
I'm still learning. I'm of mixed race and my beard and hair are complexed.
All about trial and error. Experiment with different ways on days you can
Okie dokie
Thank you for the feedback from experience!
I typical use the heated brush 1-2 times a week but all the other days it’s time for the blow dryer! Great video as always teach!
and it looks awesome!!
As always great info delivered professionally and efficiently. I see your channel booming this year bearded brethren!
Thank you so much! I am loving this journey
10-15 is extremely normal and healthy! Search her on youtube "beard shedding dan c bearded"
I use a heated brush when I want to control or style my beard. I found that if I use the heat and brush from my ear to my chin first I get all the hair going in the same direction and then bush it down in the direction I want it to stay. I always us balm after or else all that work was for nothing.
Awesome feedback, thank you Cody!
After I use the blow dryer, I always make a quick pass with the heated heard brush. I'm not sure why, but that quick hit with the heated beard brush takes the softness of my beard to the next level. It's like running my fingers through air!
Boom, sounds awesome!
Thanks Dan you put your everything into this and it shows my friend
Thank you Ron! I am working my butt off, and loving every bit of it
Awesome video Dan.
Awesome, thank you Donald!
I prefer the blower for my beard, the brush gives me a thin and wispy look. I do use it on my nappy head hair though!
Maybe i ll give it a try with less times and strokes, mine only goes up to 200 but more than enough for me 🤷🏻♂️
Sounds dialed in to me!
I use the blow dryer at home and cordless heated brush when i travel. Not the biggest fan of the heated brush but it gets the job done.
Thanks Chris!
Since I’m back to working and wear a mask practically all day I don’t use either since the mask will cover my beard. When I’m not working I will use the hair dryer and at least once a week I’ll use the heated brush. Hair dryer works great to tame the stache.
We are in unique times with the masks, that's for sure!
I'm probably medium right now, but I've used a blow dryer for everything from a business beard to my yeard. I'm not a fan of the heated brushes. Haven't been able to get a naturally straight beard with it yet.
I appreciate the effort you put into your videos and the detail you put into your explanation thank you sir.
So nice of you, thank you!
I like the name dancey. You are now dancey to me in the most possible affectionate way lol also the blow dryer way is really the way but id add people need to brush their beard in different directions along with the comb
haha I hate the name... alright, I kinda like it
I'm using my wife's dyson airwrap, does the job quickly and efficiently as it can be used with one hand.
Dyson is absolutely top notch! I am hoping to get one of their blow dryers one day
I haven’t used either yet but I think I’m just starting to get into the business beard length
Oh nice! Keep me posted if you try one
I loveee the feedback! Thank you Greg!
Fantastic feedback from experience, thank you Josh!
Sorry I'm late on this one. I use a blow dryer when heat is wanted. But here for the last 2 months I have stayed away to give the face fur a break.
enjoy your video i growing my beard long and its still straight at the moment but i think it could get bushy so i check out your video and read evryone comments i dont want to use a beard straightener brush if i can so i go with the blow dryer first see how i get on if not try the brush thanks love your videos find them helpful i from England
Thanks Paul!
Great video Dan. I use a blow dryer every single day and at my beard length it doesn’t take but 1-2minutes. Not a huge fan of the straighteners for me, I don’t like that stick straight look.
Thanks for the feedback Ben!
I have only ever used a blow dryer for my beard. It's at about 6-7" at any given time. The biggest thing I've learned along the way is to use the bones in my face to stabilize the brush and the hair to get my beard straight.
Super well said, and that beard is looking as epic as ever!
I have a heated brush. I’m still learning how to use it to get what I’m looking for
Keep at it! It will all click one day
I use both depending on the circumstance. Generally though, I use a dryer more.
Spot on same for me!
Beard Advice is so beneficial Daniel
I've been using my heated brush alot and I want to get away from using it and go with the blow dryer styling method because of having a more natural look but if I don't use some kind of heat it looks like a birds nest. The heated brush does give you that needle look and that's something I really hate about using the heated brush. I'll get back with you on how this turns out using the blow dryer. Great videos as always Dan 👊
I love following the growth and changes of that beastly beard!
I find with some B Butter brands you almost have to use heat or else it feels like your going to rip your beard out, until you get it all combed through. Nice video as usual sir!
Yesss, I know exactly what you are talking about
Hey Dan. I have a short beard about 2 to 3 inches and I have pesky curls on the side. Started using a blow dryer. Should you apply a balm after blow drying?
Yes, absolutely!
@@DanCBearded Thanks 👌
I use both, great tools 🛠
I have been using both daily for the last couple weeks too!
I have a medium/long beard and I have good luck by using a heated brush but only on the underside of the beard, it straightens the parts that need it and leaves texture on the top/visible layer. I'm still working on perfecting using a blowdryer but I do see where i think it will be better once I learn it.
I am still working on perfecting it! haha
I like the blow dryer better for sure, but I do use my heated brush to knock out my massive chin wave if I’m in a hurry. Oh, Molly watched this video with me, and she says the cold shot helps lock in style by closing the hair cuticles.
Awesome, thanks Kinsman and Molly!
Anyway you could do a video about trimming side burns for guys who shave their head, it is something I struggle with, the angle and the length

@@DanCBearded my man...thanks
Great video Dan! I use a blow dryer almost daily, I have got it totally dialed in and it works great. I only use my heated brush once in a while to fix my chin dip, but that’s about it. The blow dryer is a must for myself, really changed my whole beard game up to the next level! 👊🤘
And it is looking great!!
For the last couple weeks I have been using both as well! heated brush on my mustache and sideburns area
I bought an Aberlite and it goes from 300 degrees and up 300, 340, 380... I find I mostly only use 300 as 340 even seems a bit much. I only use it a few times a week and hindsight 20/20 I would have gotten a blow dryer.
I see a blow dryer in your future!
Another great and helpful video as always. I have both a blow dryer and a heated brush. I use the heated brush almost daily going in all directions but have a little problem getting it dialed in under the chin neck area.
Thanks Robert for the feedback!
Great video. Practice is such a big help. This was excellent information.
Thank you Walt! That practice part is often overlooked. Many guys try it the first time, but then say it doesn't work
I don't use heat right now but I have used a heated brush before
No need for any, your beard looks great!
Thank you Kindly my friend yours looks phenomenal Dan
Round blow dryer on medium heat does the trick for me.
Awesome, thanks Mike!
Been using a heated brush. Have a long beard.
Thanks Frederick!
I did try a heated brush for a while, but it made my beard... too straight? It also feel like it sacrificed a lot of volume for length so it ended up being very thin and wispy. Now I just use a hair dryer, my curling brush, and my daddy mitts.
It is all about dialing it in! I use my heated brush for select area
I love all of your videos trusted one! Keep rocking more videos!
Glad you like them!
Some days, shower, oil and go. Some days, blow dry, some days I add the straightener brush after blow dry just to get rid of any weird dents. Just depends how I feel that day. I like the options.
Options keep it fresh!
Thank you Scott!!
Each side of my beard grows differently and trying to style it exacerbates the issue rather than making it look better. 😟
Oil before heat, always
I just got a heated brush, using heat for the first time got to figure everything out.
Keep me posted!
@@DanCBearded I been practicing what you said to do and I'm getting better with the brush. The beard is starting to look better to, thanks for the helpful videos and live streams.
Do I have to use the brush every day to tame my beard?
I know not everyone has time in the morning but I find a simple hot shower works best. Apply oil and comb it. Finish getting ready and add either butter or balm and hit with a boar hair brush. Works for me.
Awesome, thanks Derek!
Trusted Teacher=always rocking the advice. Question, does it matter if you wait too long after you put oil in beard to use heat? I use a heated brush due to the blower being too noisy. I have a business to medium beard without heat and more medium with heat due to curls.
I recommend using the heat 5-10 after applying the oil
In the process of blow drying your beard with the oil in there, what happens to the oil as it is being heated by the blow dryer and does it make the hairs softer after blow drying as opposed to just applying oil and leaving it to absorb into the skin without using heat?
The heat speeds up the absorption process. I do not notice the hairs being any softer after heat. Just mainly for style and to help reduce tangles/snags
@@DanCBearded But I experienced something when I'm in my car driving with the air conditioning on. My beard hairs feel much softer when the cold air hits my face.
Interesting!
