DAN IS THE MAN!!! I have had a the chin wave since I started growing out my beard and have tried all sorts of things to get rid of it. I have made it 17 weeks without trimming, but was getting to the point of grabbing the trimmer and going back to a short beard. Now that I have had an opportunity to successfully master a routine where I don’t have “The Wave” any longer, I have no desire to trim and will continue to let it grow.
I have even had success with using balm instead of wax. I can only imagine how long it will last. Even if I have to use this method every morning it is worth it. Too bad I can’t show before and after photos because the results are AMAZING. This is the absolute best method for removing the waves.

Thanks a million for all the videos you make. This was the part of my beard that I was self conscious about. I have found that JC Grooming balm works well for this as well. Almost need the microwave to emulsify but I’ve found warm water on the hands and dry them to help emulsify the balm.

Best way to get complete beard straight, but still keep volume. Straightning brush or flat iron just makes it to straight, and lose all the volume. Keep up the good work grtz from belgium

@@DanCBearded ok so it didn't work for me but that's ok. Our beard hair thicknesses are slightly different and I discovered that they weren't caused by the brush. The wave I think was from doing my normal curls with the round brush at the bottom. My hair is slightly lighter so it pushed up and caused the wave. I'm realizing now that as your beard gets longer, you have to change how you style it. So yesterday I did comb and hairdryer and combed down then left then right on each side. The waves are almost gone. It's a constant game to get it right! Did check out some of your reviews so I'm trying new products out. Thanks for the videos!

This is a great video. I do think it is important to differentiate between something caused by your combing versus a "cowlick," which is caused by the direction that your hair folicle actuallly grows. I have two, just to the right and left of my chin. I am hoping that the additional weight of growing out my beard (it is currently about three inches) will help pull it out. On the other hand, my barber (who sees a lot more beards close up than I do) says my beard is pretty awesome looking the way it is just because it is a little indivdualized.

Yes, I've got cowlicks/divots/dents in the exact same place, and beard at 3+ inches too (or maybe cowlicks just mostly from brushing incorrectly like Dan says). I'll try Dan's method soon as I get home today - that's WHY I'm on RUclips today! Even with the 2 crazy dents, my wife loves it and that's the most important thing. Funny, another beard-dude friend of mine told me this morning that my beard is "majestic". That's way over the top, but encouraging 😜. All the @DanCBearded advice must be working really fast haha.

Great video Dan. I'm only 14wks into my yeard. I too have had these problems. As my beard gets longer I'll try this method. With my shorter beard I get by with after applying my oil I apply my balm to the outside then from underneath. I brush from my neckline to my jawline upwards then gently in a straight downward motion. Careful to not push inward. This is working for me so far, but I just don't like how stiff and brittle my beard feels at the end of the day. "Go Blue" thanks brother.

This method worked great for me, one thing I’ll mention that my beard is extremely thick, especially where my wave was, it was right in the center of my beard and although I could not get my beard as straight as yours during the combing/brushing up process I was still able to get the wave out! Also combing/brushing and blow drying up gives your beard so much volume LOL I looked like Santa before I pushed it back down

Great technique! I'm going to try this for sure. I get a wave right under my chin that makes me want to trim, but it's only right in the front and I don't want to lose any length. I don't like the idea of using heat on my beard cause I have dry skin as is, but this looks like its fast and easy.

I have found success with using similar method, but I put the heavy balm in before I’m hitting the hair dryer (helps holds the hair out), then brush down into place. Sometime also do a “back combing” method to get the hair up and out.

Awesome! Now I know I’m not the only one obsessing about my side cheek waves. Will definitely incorporate some of your tricks into my routine. One thing I struggle with is restraining myself from stroking (playing with) my beard during the day which increases chances of waves...any tricks for that besides willpower? Thanks!

Put hot sauce in your beard? Haha just kidding, I have nothing on that one brotha. Just have to develop the habit of keeping off. Part of you needs to enjoy that beard though!

Great video dude. I recently trimmed a good 1.5-2” off the beard to try and get rid of the wave. I thought it was from trimming the sides down and preventing it from laying down over top of the lower part of my beard...below the jaw. I took it all back to the same length to see if that was the problem. I miss the length.
    The damn wave.
My wife just heard the start of the video and goes...”omg he’s talking about your wave!!”

DanC!!! Another informative vid my brother. Not something I've ever struggled with but my beard is what I'd call an afro of beards lol. Really curly and bushy so just a comb and brush for me. I have been thinking about the blow dryer though to get the curls relaxed a bit without brushing or combing so much. Ive just always been terrified of damage. Thanks for all the info man and all you do for us bearded brothers out here. Keep killing it man and as always, stay bearded brother.
