Started my own beard journey 5 months ago and already love this community! I feel so lucky to discover your channel and i believe that every little detail can make a difference! Thanks for covering basics Dan :)
hey Dan, Thanks for the tip last night.... I really thought I had to literally put a few drops directly on my skin underneath my beard with the dropper and then massage it in....but now i see that making sure the oil is on my finger tips is a better way of applying it
I was planning on making the exact same video this week myself ready for movember! Mad ! Another clear, concise and easy to watch video Dan ! I trust you with every aspect of my beard and love the positivity! 💪
The oil will actually do a better job of staying on your fingertips as compared to the teeth of the comb. As the comb goes through your hair to get to the skin, it has a smaller surface area, so less likely to stay attached
For the beginners, if I gave some pieces of advice, those would be: 1. make sure your beard is damp; 2. damp your palms also; 3. point 1 and 2 are essential, those are game changers; try it and you’ll see 4. shake the oil bottle thoroughly, in order to help mix all the oils in there together very well; 5. concentrate the oil as much as you can on your fingers; 6. wash your hands after applying the oil.. you don’t want to oil anything, but your beard. 7. After washing your hands, use a brush or a comb for two reasons: to get your beard back in shape and help distribute the oil evenly;
I have used a few beard oils, every jack man seems to be doing better of the oils that I have purchased so far. Can I get thoughts on oils I could use the guidance.
So I like to put it as well on my skin and all through my beard, but you say it’s not for the beard well, my wife would beg to differ because when my beard is short and stubbly, if I use beard oil on it, it makes it much softerand does not poke her. If I do not use beard oil, it is very abrasive, so I think that it does soften the hair.
I am not. I do not recommend that method because it is almost impossible to spread the product out evenly when applying to specific spots. You can use that as a sort of treatment method, but I would not recommend for the daily routine and certinaly not for a beginner
No beginner here ! I’ve had facial hair for over 24y ! Just the way I do it , but will try your method and if it’s better I will definitely use it !! Thanks D !..
Well Dan I tried your method last night and I have to say it worked very well ! 9 months to the day . because of you I started growing a long beard I didn’t trim it for eight months .. now I have a glorious Viking beard ( style ) with gray brown red and white hair .. my favorite band growing up in the 80s was ZZ Top go figure now , being a drummer for 34 years since I was 10 years old maybe I can join the band lol🤣 Thanks brother 👍🏻👍🏻 Ps. Thank you! First day on beard oil (the first beard product ever used). So much of the itchiness is reduced! Having the beard *damp* and not just lightly sprayed was key. My face finally feels hydrated! I wonder if ill actually feel no itch at all after a while. The biggest feel good factor is that my mustache finally does not feel sharp at the ends like spikes on my lips. My poor beard was so bone dry its hard to gauge what over oiling would feel like. Would it actually make my fingers have a wet shine and oily slippery 30 minutes later?

Hey man, I love all your videos. I just had a question, and I don't know if you'll see this, but I was wondering if you could tell me the difference between beard cream and beard oil
Hello mister C, This time I tried to do some (lightning quick search engine) research before bothering you with a question, but here I am, good sir. I would like to know your opinion on applying beard oil to the beard by applying it to the comb (spreading it on the comb) instead of spreading it on and with one's hands. Personally I'm too new to the game to be able to tell how good this method spreads the oil throughout the hairs; perhaps you have experimented with it? A few drops on the fingers to get to the skin can't be avoided I guess, but I wonder if this method might have the advantage of spreading the product better and with that perhaps be less wasteful? I'm not sure but I have the feeling I'm just not subtle enough when oiling the beard with my hands, causing quite a bit of curly/wavy hairs (with "white bulbs") to shed a bit faster than needed in an already sparse beard. Yet again I thank you for your time. Kind regards and good luck Keep up the good work please!
Hey Dan , First off I wanted to say thanks for the information in your videos. I was wondering if your have already made, or planing on making a comprehensive list of the different viscosity of beard oils. So someone new to the beard game such as my self will know when to use a thin oil, or a medium.
Love your channel Dan C. Content and information is the best. Do you have any tips for whitening a silver beard. My beard is an awesome silver colour and stains. Thoughts and tips?
Hey brotha, that is no one I have solid advice on. I would honestly day rock what you have! Use a really good stripping wash and follow with a conditioner and that should help get out stains. I would not recommend bleaching or doing anything harsh
Dan C Bearded Wicked Dan thanks for the advice. Will give it a go and let you know how it turns out. Thanks to you I have started making my own beard oil. Your info/videos reference what carrier oils are good convinced me to start making oil. Thanks my man Dan. Keep up the good work and stay bearded.
I need some help. My beard is more like the hair I once had on my head. It doesn’t look like long curly pubic hair which I actually think styles better but I have what God gave me. It’s getting down to almost my nipples if stretched. I really don’t want to cut it off but just not sure how to style it. It’s all gray to white with a little sway or curl but basically straight hair. When it was shorter I blow dried it straight down and it curled under at the bottom. Was a very clean look. Now it’s too long for that. It’s not thick like yours being more like hair from my scalp. I wash it and conditioner it then after just apply butter and shake my head and leave it looking like UN brushed hair 🤷🏼♂️. Any recommendations. Thanks
Dan love the content brother. Quick question I apply live bearded oil and right after apply beard butter than come through. Is that okay. Also noting some split ends on the mustache. So going to have to start applying more oil and beard butter to the mustache. I stopped doing it so much because than my mustache wax doesn’t hold at all. Let me know thank you brother. Always keep up the great work.
Beginner here, great video I appreciate ya dan and all the help. My beard is very wavy and hard to style even with a good product regimen with quality stuff (mostly from Husky). I don’t know how to get the style game right and I’m not sure about exactly how often and when to apply products? Any help is appreciated and again thanks for the great videos
Hey Dan. Really liking how your beard looks. Thanks for the tips. I have a question? Do applying beard products like beard oil or beard butter, give any benefits to my hair or scalp?
I know your beard should be 90-95% dry before applying butter but what about oil?. I know that water and oil don't mix so does that mean to only apply when beard is 100% dry?
Hey Dan, i apply oil after showering and when i get up in the morning after rinsing my face/beard with cold water. Is it okay to use beard oil on my face with the excess after applying it to my beard? Or should i just stick to lotion?
New to the channel. Have been growing my beard for a year and 7 months. It seems to have stopped growing. Is it normal for beards to stop growing and what can I do to continue growth?
How often do you apply? And is it important to apply both at night and in the morning? 4 month beard here, and I get seriously dry flaky skin underneath. I have only been washing and conditioning, about to get some oil.
Thanks for this video. Do I need to make sure my beard is completely dry before applying beard oil, if I'm just getting out of the shower? Or, how wet can a beard still be before you can apply it?
@@DanCBearded thanks man! And then one other question. Which type of product is going to most beenfit me if my gf is always complaining that my very short breard pokes her when we kiss? I've been watching some of your videos on balms, butters, and oils, but wasn't sure which one would make the biggest difference for this specific issue
Dan I have a quick question, does the beard soften after a while when you use the oil? Been using it for a few days and it still seems really sort of stiff.

Dan the man! My beard is like a #2 which is 1/4 length. Have you heard any good things about the Honest Amish heavy duty beard balm, I use the wax but wanted to leave the balm at night, what are your thoughts. You answered my question on the mustache area. What do you think of that combination, I do also have the oil but seems a bit messy.
I'm not Dan but I use the regular balm as a butter at night in my routine. It is a conditioner balm and honestly I love it. Dan C told me about the heavy duty balm. But I have stuck with the regular because it is perfect for my beard.

Since it says y9u4 in dalllas. Is there a chance you are a dallas cowboys fan?
I am not in Dallas or a cowboys fan, sorry brotha!
Thanks for this video. Do I need to make sure my beard is completely dry before applying beard oil, if I'm just getting out of the shower? Or, how wet can a beard still be before you can apply it?
You want to apply to a damp but not dripping beard. I say 75% dry
@@adamthewoodworker2571 Oil and butter for sure
Your beard is magnificent!
Thank you!
Dan I have a quick question, does the beard soften after a while when you use the oil? Been using it for a few days and it still seems really sort of stiff.
Is it alright to brush the beard oil using a beard brush? Or just stick with a comb? Thanks!
Brush is totally fine!
@@DanCBearded hell yeah. Thanks Dan. Just subscribed and am digging down the rabbit hole.
Trying to find the best oil and balm now through your vids! Lol
When i use beard oil? After or before using beardwash? Can i keep all day long?
Out of the after after washing your beard. And yes, it should last all day
Didn't know I had to wait 5mins after beard oil to style. I go str8 into the balm. 😲😲😲
Give that a shot! It can be a game changing switch. Really was a breakthrough for me. Allow those products to soak in
On another video you advised to add oil and wait 5mins to comb through. What’s the best method to add oil and comb through or wait 5mins then comb?
@Dan C Bearded - have you tried the new Villain Black by Heroes and Legends? Do you like it better than the original ?
I like the original more, but it is pretty dang good!
Great video 👍🏾
Thanks Derrick!
Great video! So do you apply beard butter or beard balm to style after you let the oil sit for about 10 minutes?
Exactly!
@@DanCBearded great thank you!
Should I water my beard and moisten it before applying oil or is it just fine to apply it on a dry beard?
Apply products to a damp beard
@@DanCBearded Thank you so much! It's amazing to have you answering personally!
My brother! Do you have a recommendation for a quality made in the USA ox horn comb? I don’t want to get a cheap knock off that may not be real ox horn. Thank you kindly !
Beard octane supplies the best one I have ever used! I’m not sure where it is made though. It is for sure real though
@@DanCBearded thank you! I’ll be ordering one today.
Just watching this as a refresher. Did you dampen and dry your beard before applying?
Damp, always!
Mike Ghost That’s awesome, so do you use the wax during the day, or anything?
@@matthewnowak3222 I use balms about half the time, if I use HA, it's extra grit for me. But If you really want hold I don't recommend them. Sorry. Watch Dan C Bearded stuff on balms such. He's the teacher lol!! Beard on brotha!!
Mike Ghost Thanks brother
Hey brotha, I agree with Mike! HA balm and heavy duty balms act more as a butter, and are decent options to use at night 👊
Do beard brushes work too or combs are just better?
They serve different purposes: ruclips.net/video/pOMtIOc-xGM/видео.html
How often should you change your ox horn comb, since they break down over time?
Just whenever they break. I have had my favorite for two years now
Thanks
Welcome!
A what comb? Oxhorn? Thanks for the video, this was helpful.
Ox horn
@@DanCBearded Thank you. I'm enjoying your channel.
Perfect! Probably the most important video for a newbie wanting to grow a beard out... And just in time for no shave November! 30+ likes from me! 👍
Thank you so much buddy!
Hey Dan , just wondering if you had any advice for my bear hair growing longer on one side than the other ? I have a longer almost two year beard sir.
Hey Aaron, have you checked out this video: ruclips.net/video/EUhqoTBcg68/видео.html
My main advice would be to trim even along the way
