- In this video I show you how to remove and clean both sets of brushes on a Vax Dual Power Pro carpet washer. I also show you the internal hose with instructions on removal and replacement.

Thank you , this video was incredibly helpful. Easy to follow and straightforward. I’ve had this machine for around five years . It was only releasing a little solution and, and the suction had stopped working. It was filthy inside, the holes that released the solution were blocked. It’s works perfectly now, just like new!

Great video, I stripped this model down in summer at my parents as their patio gets the sun, which helped dry everything out! This machine is away at a static caravan at the moment, looking forward to using it
! One thing I have found with vax cleaners is the screws rust, which can make them a lot harder to remove. I always dry my carpet cleaners as best I can, but rust seems to get in!
Many thanks for demystifying the taking apart of this machine. I had only dared going halfway on previous occasions! I do think the Vax design team could have applied themselves better in the number of screws needed (!). One bit of advice I'd add to your instructions, use a manual screwdriver when re-assembling. It's very easy to over-tighten screws and crack the plastic parts if you use an electric one.

Very helpful. Worth adding that a chopstick or equivalent can be used to prise hair clumps out of the brush head so that they don't dry and build up. After a year and a dog, the vax is grubby but not clogged and works well. I'll do the full tear down when the belt goes. Thanks.
I stripped mine down last summer, washed, dried in the sun and put back together!

really great video cieaned up my machine lovely. but now i need a new belt but can't seem too get a replacement any where. any idea please.
Thank goodness for this video. The Vax Platinum brochure has miniscule black and white out-of-focus pics that are lit in the style of a German Expressionist film (ie not). 🙄

The belt may have snapped. I hope to show a video of how to replace the belt soon.
@@ibaisaic I can see a rubber belt intact underneath but it did smell like burnt rubber when i was using it so perhaps I need a new belt. Thanks so much for your reply.

Hi I would like to know what do you have to do if these spinscrub brushes and a normal brush does not work I really need some help and love your videos
I have this machine. It works fine in upright hose hose. However, when I recline it to clean carpets smoke and a burning rubber smell comes from the recline pedal. The middle cog and spindle is missing from the spin scrub brush so this needs replacing. Would that solve it or do you think it needs a new belt too? Do you have a video on changing the belt?
Hi, just followed ur video to clean my vax pro. These 2 bits fell out when I turned it over and I'm clueless where they came from. Can u help? It's like a plastic nut and a metal bold with a round bit in the middle.
Hi Roger, i have got this model vax dual power pro W85 PPT Im glad you shown the cleaning instructions very interesting and handy to watch learn to know what to do, thank you for showing us, there is a question i would like to ask you please, with the nozzle right in the middle next to the wrighting, duel poer pro, there is a round or oval shape peace there in the middle, I have tryed to clean rinse inside of it utterly impossible to remove any dirt inside of it, as i rinse the nozzle, so how do i clean this round or oval shape peace on the nozzle or what does it do what is it please ?
I couldn't get mine totally clean, but you could try soaking it overnight in some biological washing powder and rinse it clean in the morning.
Great video, thanks! Do you know how to clean the mess inside the hand hose? I saw your other video to put it under hot water and run the machine, but it does not work for me as there is a lot of hair inside and there is no way I can remove the transparent plastic cover :(

Are there any air filters on the suction side of these machines? i know you're supposed to hoover the carpets well before using one, and the washer i just bought (Vax Rapid Power) has a foam sock inside the dirty water tank, but is there anything else? Maybe hidden inside? Cheers, Josh .
I have cleaned everything like shown (great video by the way) but my problem is it will wash carpets normally but when i attach the hose accessory no water will come out. I can feel the suction but no water, do you have any idea's as i have checked pipe work all ok and all clean everywhere. Thank you

Hi, did you struggle getting the nozzle assembly out? Mine seems really stuck and all I can think of is that it's the way the two bottom screws are done. But it basically looks like I am going to break it just trying to remove it.
Is the wash solution pump driven or just gravity fed? Have a lot of trouble getting solution onto carpet. Have tried all cleaning as per video
Hi, the little washer between the clean water tank and the machine came out without that I noticed, so all the water immediately poured out from the clean water tank, all over the machine and then the floor. I dried it up and it still worked, then tripped the switch. Dried it some more and it did start to work, so isn't completed broken, but tripped the switch again, so now I am just leaving it. Any advice 🙏
Hello, thanks for the video... I was wondering how to clean the pick up pipe? My machine isnt sucking up the waste water. I have cleaned everything I can see but don't know where the pick up is.

Hi did you manage to get your problem sorted as I have the same problem and don’t know what else to try.
On the nozzle there is a centrally located compartment that has a tiny hole. This has been clogged up with dirt and possible dog hairs. So I soaked it and all of the nozzle has cleaned up really nicely except from this central compartment. Do you have any tips on how to clean this part out?
Don't know if someone can help me. I have the same carpet cleaner shown in this video and every time I go to use it the clean water with shampoo dispenses to quickly and is empty in minutes. Wasn't like this when I first brought it. I think I may have caused the damage by first using washing up liquid on a stubborn stain then using the carpet cleaner to get it up :( the foam was thick white. Is they a part i need to order? And replace. Help would be much appreciated as I can't afford to buy another
This has save my day! haha. I have a similar model and now after hours it is clean again, thank you. I would like to know though which make/model of carpet cleaner is the easiest machine to clean because basically this is far to time consuming to clean!
My favourite is the Bissell Big Green. It has two large easy to clean tanks but it may be too large and expensive for some people.

Hi. I have a similar model but unfortunately out of warranty. I can't remove the nozzle assembly despite removing all the screws and unfortunately you did not show that bit in the video. I'm trying to investigate why it's smoking when I switch it on. Don't know if the belt needs replacing

First rate video - you thought about what you were going to say, you said it, you filmed it and you edited it. You could/should give lessons on making instructional videos to the thousands who haven't got the faintest....you were a great help when I gave my Platinum a "de-fluff/de- gunk" after its first trip today....

Thread resurrection warning: My spin scrub no longer spins, the actual brushes are mechanically sound, they spin if you manually turn the spindle, it appears the bit the orange spindle plugs into is not rotating, this I believe to be powered by suction but have no idea where to check to see if is blocked.

How do I change the internal belt, not the one that you can see. I've just followed your video as mine was jammed. Then noticed the internal wide belt was stripped on the side and jamming. I've cut away the stripped part and it's working again but for how long I'm not sure
I will make a video on that one day, but Vax don’t tell you how to do it in the instructions. I seem to remember you have to remove an awful lot of screws.
Mine has a different problem. The brushes stopped spinning! Motor, soaking and everything is OK but the brushes! Any help please? Thanks 😊
Thanks for this video, very useful. One of my spin brushes keeps falling off (the one with the long stick at the back). Any ideas on how to fix this please? Do i need to order a new spin brush? Many thanks.
If it keeps falling off it sounds like the part that holds it in has snapped. If so, you will probably need to order a new spinscrub assembly.

Followed all your very clear instructions however when assembled the brushes do not rotate. I have checked the belt is in place which it is but still no joy. Any ideas?

How do you replace a cable on a vax pro dual carpet cleaner?
HELP..... have one bought a few years ago (more newer than you show but the same as i have striped to cleaner) when power on, my hand against it the rubber seal is strong and very excellent suction (on your video 8.20 looks as good a mine), a click to the head cleaner area But that power suction does not touch at all , the head is cleaned, clear no bits and no suction at all. I am so puzzled totally, the click to connected looks fine .....WHAT THE HELL I AM DOING WRONG. HELP !
you may already know this but if you use you best vacuum with a motorized brush head and you have pets I would vacuum the carpets much longer than usually and I would use the pet model if available just so there wont be so much pet hair in the cleaner

Consider a magnetic components tray (Mainly for screws, since the bars may be stainless) It helps to prevent losing small parts in the dirt.
You should have put the screws and bars in vinegar to de-rust them.
I’m getting no suction from the front section, any advice?
Check the nozzle is properly seated, the internal hose isn’t split and you have the dirty water tank properly in place. Also make sure the cover for the attachment hose is closed.
I have a much older Vax. At least 15 yrs old. Dont know model number. Any idea how to find it out? Just been cleaning it out.
The model number should be located somewhere on the machine.
Great video but how do I change the belt. Nothing on that at all.
Vax do not provide instructions for changing the belt but you can find printed instructions online for the Hoover branded version sold in the USA which does include instructions for changing the belt.
