This detailed demonstration and review features the Vax Dual Power Pro upright carpet washer.
The video starts with an overview of the machine and I show all the cleaning tools and solution that's included with the carpet washer.
The demo starts with the carpet being thoroughly vacuumed using a Maytag Windtunnel upright vacuum cleaner.
I then show how to fill the clean water and solution tanks before demonstrating the Vax Dual Power Pro on the living room carpet.
The dirty water that the machine removed from the carpet is shown before the machine is demonstrated on upholstery.
The next part of the demonstration shows the machine cleaning stairs using the hose and small shampoo nozzle. Finally I clean up a stain using the hand held Spinscrub nozzle.
I sum up what I think of this machine at the end of the video.

The best demonstration by far. Beats all other demonstrations which really don't go into enough detail. Thank you very much.
Glad it was helpful!
Really helpful. There is dirty stain on my son's carpet which I have been trying to get rid of for years using various products. Barely noticeable using the additional tool. The rest of the carpets are spotless.
Just wanted to say thank you for this video. We have just picked up a second one of these with no instructions. Your video was perfect to help understand assembly and operation. Thanks again.
Excellent and informative video which helped to educate me on the correct way to clean my carpet and what I needed to do so.
I have this machine and live in a flat it has brought my carpets up like brand-new only fault I would say is I had to keep refilling water as I was doing 2 large rooms
looks like an excellent cleaner! I've actually had excellent results at my mom's house using the kirby carpet cleaner. it does leave the carpet more wet, so it takes a bit extra work but the results were phenomenal.
Top class, Got 1 today. Now what. Never cleaned a carpet. Watched this and I am buzzing. This guy demonstrates this Vax so good, he must work for the company lol, no offence. I was so impresses with the camera angles. This guy deserves a medal for his time. And he explains in easy straight forward detail, just how you would want to hear it.Thx buddy, you really made my day. From the start I thought it was Vickter Meldrews grand child , so I just knew I was in good company. All the best with further videos - I will post how it goes. Thanks
No, I don't work for Vax fortunately.
Thank you for this useful demonstration. I telephoned VAX about the detergent and they confirmed it should be put into the top tank neat and the machine will self mix. Just used the machine for the first time and was really impressed with both the cleaning and drying ability. Thanks again.
Bought one after seeing your vid. Just cleaned my son's flat with it - a couple of lads sharing, little vacuuming ever done in the last two years so pretty grim cream carpets. This vax did amazing job on the dirtiest carpets with one slow pass with shampoo followed by a second rinse pass. Very impressed!
This vacuum is the Hoover power path pro advanced. I just bought one and did a few upgrades that helped with suction. One was the gasket on the dirty water tank. And the nozzle for cleaning furniture.
It does say on a VAX cleaning solution bottle, dilute and pour into clean water tank, but for auto mix machines, pour directly into the solution reservoir
You must have the cleanest carpet of all
Great demo, thanks. I too was wondering about the cleaning solution but you have answered that for me. Many thanks.
Thanks for the video and demo on this vacuum cleaner. I am expecting my new one today.and am confident about how to.use it appropriately.
Well thanks for the very informative video. A real help. Had the Vax Dual Power in the box for nearly 3 years but with lockdown it was on the to do list. Its now on the done list and am very very pleased with the results. Looks like a new carpet. (It is actually 10 years old.) I was very surprised by the amount of carpet fluff it generated but no visual harm done. Also found that it sucked up better on the forward stroke as opposed to the backward stroke.
My Vax Rapide Ultra 2 pet is good. It is quiet and I have washed my carpets many times in these last few weeks and the water is always black but not as black as it was when I first used it
Thanks for the comprehensive review. I just ordered one via the Vax online sale.
Ziggy Sheppard is it good??
Thanks for taking the time to do this. Just had a go with mine - agree it's good. Waiting for carpet to dry now. Should have watched your video first!
Excellent.... thank you
This looks exactly like my Hoover power path max. Same brush system same tanks.
Hoovering can never be boring! or cleaning for that matter!
WON ME OVER !
deffo going to get one of these now !
thank you !
+nicole garner MKe sure you register the guarantee for when it blows up, or get a Bissell Powerwash Deluxe.
+nicole garner Don't waste your money. If your carpets are really dirty, they won't get your carpet clean.
I hope you were joking about the machine blowing up
i agree with what your saying . logic and common sense always seems to be wasted on large companies .
Wish I'd seen this video before I used my vax carpet cleaner. Much more helpful than the slim instruction manual or the Vax videos. I too was confused by the different instructions on the cleaning fluid bottle vs the booklet so I phoned Vax and got even more conflicting advice. Many thanks for getting the information straight. How often do you clean your carpets? I've seen confusing info on this question also. I have 2 cats who go outside and then bring their 'take aways' back in to eat on the Dining Room rug!
I like this machine as it has powerful two cleaning brush spindles. Because, the cleaning solutions was very expensive I had to make my own home solution which costs me few pennies and I found the home made cleaning solution did better job than VAX+ solution. Here is the formula of my carpet cleaning solution. 1. Half cupful of liquid detergent. (do not use washing up liquid, but you could powder detergent but liquid is better). Detergent does not foam but washing up liquid does and can mess your machine. 2. One spoonful of branded fabric softener or lemon juice ( this is for fresh smell)3. One spoonful of Vanish Liquid Stain remover (optional, use this if your carpet is excessively stained) 4. 1/2 piece of dishwasher tablet crushed (optional) Mix altogether with two or three cups of water. and there you have it, inexpensive carpet cleaning solution. Please note most of the cleaning is done by the machine brushes. The cleaning solution only acts as catalyst.
+Raj Hiremath
only add on to this is, I use the proper solution for the first clean.
I used 50/50 with water.
your bang on right with the rinse. I did a second rinse and it could o with another still pulling up dirt but I run out of time.
plus it not a hoover you need patience slow forward slow back.
see the VAX demo.. this guy trying to use a carpet cleaner like a vacuum cleaner, it wont lift the deep seated dirt using it this fast!!!
I bought one of those. Here in the States they are made by "Hoover." I like it, except it is designed to not pick up too much water on the carpet, because the power brush is lower than the suction port on the front.
+Rusty Andres I don't like it much, though this one belongs to my Mum. It is good at cleaning with the spinscrub and rotating agitator, but like you say, it leaves the carpet quite wet.
Great demo, just bought mine & looking forward to using it on my one & only bedroom carpet!
If I only had one carpet I wouldn't buy this Vax. I would go for a compact model.
If you are lending it out then it makes sense. I'm not keen on this model and neither is my Mum who owns it, especially after getting my Bissell Deluxe. I hope you registered it with Vax for the guarantee.
Ok, so I have just tested it out & it is amazing, I've just saved myself a huge amount of money by not replacing my carpet & buying this beauty. Only thing, my spin scrub tool didn't spin, but I have contacted customer services & the lovely lady I spoke to us sending me a new one. Happy days! 😊
love that sunroom.
Ahh you have to tilt the head of the attachment back towards you. I couldn’t understand why the attachment with the round brush was flooding the furniture and the stained water was spitting back out. Can you show how you attached it please? Perhaps mine wasn’t attached properly. 🤷🏽♀️
With the attachment with the rotating head its in contact with the carpet all the time?
Excellent video. Really helpful demonstration.
I can see! What a difference!
This looks very much like my Hoover Smart Wash. I guess the one you're showing here must be the UK version of my Hoover.
I live in a 2story apt. all carpeted so I bought a vax carpet washer. there fantastic. the down side is. how to clean the carpet washer inside. to get all the dirt from 2 yrs out . other than that its a great buy
get mine tomorrow carnt wait xx
I made a mistake and used the bottle instructions and put 40ml into the solution tank ,I should have check the machine instructions first bull in a china shop , interestingly it still brought my ivory white carpets up like brand new even with some long term stains I've been truly surprised at how well it works
Steven Rho It wouldn't have done any harm, but you can't use the rinse function if you do it again.
I have that Vax it's amazing
Thanks for uploading thanks for your time.
Ahh - just bought a vax machine, My dilemma - reading the booklet it says in RED~ pour in the solution (no amount??? - their video shows the demonstrator poring in a much larger amount)) (but on the bottle it says 40ml) and then also in RED - top up with 1 litre of water ie to dilute it?? would like this to be clarified as the cleaning solution is SO expensive, First operation has come up with dirty water so must be doing something right.
Like your video. Have contacted Vax with the same query.
If the Vax has the automix function, you just pour in neat solution into the separate solution tank, do not dilute it as the machine mixes the solution with the water automatically. If your machine doesn’t have the automix, you just dilute the solution according to the dilution rate on the bottle.
Hi. The solution bottle says that you use You use 40ml of solution for each fill. As there is no measurement guide on the cap or the machine, I used a measuring jug to check first.. and it's (based on filling the 250ml bottle cap) One And A Half Capfuls.
You do not need to measure anything on this machine or any Vax with the Automix feature. You pour neat solution into the small solution tank and the cleaner mixes it with the water as you clean. That’s how they can offer the rinse feature as when you turn the dial to rinse, it stops the solution from mixing with the water. The Vax solution bottle I have states 40ml of solution per litre of water when using in models without automix or another brand of carpet washer.
@@ibaisaic Firstly, I just wanted to say that I really liked you tutorial, as It was the best one on youtube that I've found.... And Yes, I see your point, but when VAX suggests pouring the unused solution back into the bottle when finished (if of course you don't use it all up), it's a pain. VAX says not to leave it left in the container when not in use. So I really think that sticking to just 40ml at a time, saves time and hassle, if you are not going to use that amount. It also cleaned my whole lounge carpet really well, with just with that small 40ml amount. So I will respectfully agree to disagree... lol.
Great demonstration on this dual power pro carpet washer Ibaisaic but I wonder if you or some one could help me with an issue I have with vax carpet washers I had a vax all terrain carpet washer model V-125A only had it for a day and the wheel fell off so I sent it back for a replacement . I was surprised that Vax sent me a replacement of the one you have demonstrated above they tell me its an updated version of V-125 first of all the Vax Dual Power Pro Carpet is £100 cheaper has less wattage smaller tanks and doesn't have heated cleaning like the V-125A I'm asking here because you seem to know what your talking about kind Regards John
I love hoovers
Is this easy to take apart and store? Unscrew the handle. I have 2 small children and my rug is is mucky. And I would only use it a few times a year.
Great video, thank you.
Good video spoiled my too many commercials
I note that in your video you used a full 250 bottle in one go of the solution rather than the 2 capfuls recommended. Have just purchased one of these machines & very impressed....however I can say I honestly spent more time cleaning out the debris of carpet 'fluff' from the machine than I did actually cleaning. I do have 3 small dogs but vaccum daily, I am hoping next time there will be less of this.
+Sue Toomer This cleaner mixes the neat solution automatically, so you put as much as you want in the separate solution tank depending on how much carpet you have to clean. I'm not really sure why you think that only two capfuls are needed unless you are looking at the dilution rate on the bottle. This only applies to machines that don't have the auto mix function. You will always get fluff in the machine after use even if you vacuum the carpet thoroughly before washing.
+ibaisaic i have ordered this and get it delivered on wednesday. I had a Vax rapide before and that used 2 capfuls to a full tank. I got an e-mail from Vax with a video telling you how to use it, and it clearly says use 2 capfuls to a full tank of water, then after you have done the capret you rinse, by using a full tank of clear water. And you should only use VAX liquid in it.
+Mistysmudge1 The Vax Rapide doesn't have the automix system that the Dual Power Pro has. The model I demonstrate in this video has a seperate tank inside the clean water tank that holds neat solution which mixes with the water as you use the machine.
If you watch the video you will see that on top of the clean water tank there are two orange screw caps one covers a small container that holds the solution and the over is for the larger portion of the container that holds the water. Having a seperate solution tank means that the cleaner can be used in rinse mode which only uses the water without mixing in the solution. The wash/rinse dial is located at the front of the clean water tank. If you want to only put two capfuls of solution into the solution tank you can, but you will be refilling it many times during the cleaning process.
I know and the vid i got sent was for my new one, and said to use 2 capfulls........
Great vid as always, please help me understand the difference between the pro and the standard version of this machine
Thanks for making this video
Ok found it here, it was hiding from me I guess. I just need to watch a few videos in order to know what carpet washer will be best to get.
Thank you! ⭐️
I am borrowing this from my mum today to do my carpets. Interested to know if the foot stool dried ok without showing any patches?
Great video and explanation 👍 tx a lot
Looks brilliant. Only thing is, when just used as a vacuum, where does the dust go? Look forward to your response.
It is a carpet washer, it can’t be used as a dry vacuum.
@@ibaisaic thanks for that. 👍
I'm pretty sure we have the same model of the vac in America but Hoover makes them but the vax definitely looks like a better quality
Ashton mahan They are both made in the same Chinese factory. Hoover USA and Vax are owned by the same company.
So with this I won't need to take my big area rug and runner rugs outside to clean them? Will this damage my lvp flooring if I clean them inside? Can I use it to clean my lvp flooring too or will I need to buy a separate machine for lvp flooring?
I HAVE VAX CARPET DUAL V using the ext hose for stairs it sucks but does not dispense the detergent can you help thanks Neal
You grossed me out during Easter with the result of this carpet washer.
Did you rinse your carpet? Was it just with water only?
Nice video brother. Thanks for uploding .
got one today
Thanks for your efforts
What carpet shampoo did you use ? Does it dry the carpet after washing?
Hello, please, which one is better Aletta Scrap or Platinum
great videos, thanks for posting these. What would you recommend for a carpet cleaner vaccum? Vax or George Numatic? I'm watching your reviews, but cannot see one where you face-off between George and Vax. thanks again.
If you have to choose b/w Vax 6131t or this one i.e Vax Dual power pro which one you would prefer or go for. Hope to hearing from you soon. Thanks
Neither.

ibaisaic how helpful of you 🙄
Very good video......whats a good carpet stain removal shampoo? If you have any tips please let me know
I'm not sure whether to go for the VAX or Bissell's Heatwave cleaner.
+Mainframe I will be testing a Bissell Deluxe with heatwave soon. I really like it. It dries the carpet far better than the Vax.
ibaisaic Wow thanks so much for replying. Means a lot to people like myself who are looking into buying their first carpet washer. I'm also looking at the Big Green Cleaning Machine instead, though it's around £500. Thanks again and love the channel.
+Mainframe I would like to try the Big Green, but it is too expensive. Bissell sometimes have reconditioned models on their website for £280 but are out of stock at the moment. If you get anything direct from Bissell, put BISS10 into the box on checkout and you'll get 10% off your order.
Good video very informative thankyou.
I like that machine. I wished we had Vax here. I have a Bissel that is terrible. puts too much solution down and is so hard to get out of the carpet. I could rinse all day and never get it all out. Plus, it doesn't do a good job at sucking the water out. I need to find something comparable.
+ShrinkDavid 1982 You do have Vax, it's called Hoover. This model is available under the Hoover brand in the U.S.
I will have to look for it. Thanks
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!! GREAT JOB!!
Hi could you please tell me if this is any good on hard floors / lino? or stick to a mop and bucket? I know there are dedicated vax hard floor cleaners but how does this compare? Many ThanksK
Can someone please tell me how you clean inside of this machine, as the plastic panel gets filled with gunge and the brushes get all clogged up, no where can I find out whether there is a simple way to do this without having to unscrew the bottom unit then remove the wheel holding the belt unit and belt and before removing both the brushes so that you can remove any hair and debris that has fastened around them so that you that you can lift the plastic panel at the front and clean it
There is no easy way of cleaning this machine, you have to undo several screws to remove the brushes. Make sure you vacuum thoroughly before using it which will cut down on the amount of hair and debris that collect on the brushes and nozzle.

I carpet cleaned my living room and the water 💦 was filthy
I'm so glad you used that emoji, I'd never have know what water means had that not been there
Ibaisaic, What about the new platinum model? It doesn't look much different to this one. If i was to spend around £250 on a carpet cleaner, would the vax platinum be a choice? Or would you recommend something else?
vax w86-dd-b vs vax w90-ru-b which is better
I can't see it on the market anymore. What model has it been replaced by?
This: ruclips.net/video/tr2ZuhRVIM8/видео.html
Very helpful video. Thank you!
How long does it take to thoroughly clean a 12m² (3x4m) carpet
That’s like asking how long is a piece of string. It depends on what the carpet is made of and how dirty it is.
This looks exactly like my Hoover machine
I already have a Vax Rapide something or other, I forget the number. It's a real pain to fill with its long shaped water tank and emptying it is just as bad. A good clean for a low price but this pro looked so much easier I ordered one this weekend. The Rapide motor makes so much noise that I have to wear ear plugs....yes, it really is that bad. I wondered how noisy the pro was in use?
+Steve Page If you have the Rapide Ultra 2, this model is far noisier.
Maybe my Rapide is faulty. I have to wear ear plugs with it, the new one is just a noisy vacuum cleaner noise. It did manage to get out old stains which I am very impressed with and dried really quickly.
Thanks for this video
What's the difference between this and the vax duel power?
I want to know too
the duel power is really good.. my carpets are clean... so I'm happy...
norma jean Dual power can clean stairs but normal one can't.
try the Bissell deep clean premier
Nice Video. Can you review the automix function next time. Mine uses one tank Solution per 3 Litres clean water (at max level). e.g 250ml solution in tank all used up by 3 Litre clean water refill. Mix ration. So have to refill both each time. Veeery expensive to run?
Sand Box This Vax is not mine, so I won't be able to do another video for some time, but I found it less solution hungry than the other Vax models with automix. I only pull the trigger on the forward pass and release it when pulling back the cleaner and find that I am not having to refill the solution everytime I put clean water in. If I use this cleaner again, I will take note of how many clean tanks I can use before refilling the solution.
That dude who commented about the solution was 100% from Yorkshire
Our carpet is still quite damp. Have we used too much water? What can we do?
If you have only squeezed the solution trigger on the forward pass and released it when pulling the machine back, you should not have used too much water. After cleaning a section of carpet, it is important to go over it several times using suction only to remove as much of the dirty water as possible. Go slowly on each pass and move onto another section when you can no longer see any water coming up the clear nozzle.
Great videos keep up the good work
hi I am wrighting to you, because I seem to be having a problem that I thinj you can help me with,I have cleaned my carpets with carpet cleaner I used several different types of cleaning products but I still seem to have the urine smell of my dog,I'm wondering for any tips or any suggestions on what I can do or use thanks for takin the time to read&help me
I've got cats, the best method I have found is to use Vinegar and warm Water about 50/50 and Liquid Clothes Detergent just enough to make the water slightly soapy. (The detergent has enzymes in it) I would also recommend rinsing the area with fresh water.
Can you use it as vacuum cleaner only or just carpet washer?
Great machine if you keep them Clogg free of pet hair and fluff strip and clean um they will pick up always
Does it work on tiles too? With the same brushes?
Is this suitable for thick pile rugs?
Yes
We moved everything out of the room
I woke up to this....
Can you power it up and use the brushes to disturb the shag and all the dog hairs in the pile before using the household vacuum cleaner to then hoover up the loose dog hairs on the surface. Then perform and wash the carpets. ? I noticed that when I turned mine on for the very first time the amount of dog hairs it disturbed in the carpet was unreal. Is this safe to run just to disturb the muck in the pile first ?
It's not supposed to be used that way, but it won't do it any harm. Seems to me that you need to replace your vacuum cleaner with one better able to remove the hairs in the first place.
We have we have just bought a very expensive Sebo but I was so impressed with just powering up the vax and how much it scuffed up the dog hairs. Surely I can run it with just the front brushes.rollers turning. p.s many thanks for your comment.
it sorta looks like a Bissell Revolution 2x.
it's the Hoover Dual Power Pro
No it's the Vax dual power pro
hi ibaisaic great demonstration as usual, however i live in a small 2 bedroom flat and its just myself and my partner no kids or pets and think this cleaner will be too big for us, just wondering if you could possibly recommend a suitable cleaner for our needs something maybe around £70-£80 thank you
+louise stirton I can't think of any carpet washer in that price bracket I would recommend.
+louise stirton You need to lower your expectations. You may get a cheap used DIY machine off Ebay for that. However, DIY machines are surface cleaners only. They do not get deep into a carpet pile. Only professional cleaning can do that.
Great review. I've recently bought a Vax Dual Power Pro Advance carpet cleaner. It appears to clean properly and the carpet is left fairly dry but I really don't get much dirty water in the dirty water tank. If I use 2 full tanks of clean water then I might get a couple of inches of dirty water in the waste tank. Do you think this is normal? The suction seems OK, the carpets appear clean and fairly dry - but where is all the water going? I wonder whether you have any experience with your machine, albeit it is a slightly different model I think?
I've replied to you on my channel comments page, but I'd like to add that this Vax wasn't very good at removing the dirty water, but did better than yours seems to.
I have this vax and I am looking through the comments to see what others think of the suction. I think mine gets more water in the tank than yours is which is probably because I push with my foot on the front to get closer contact with the carpet, it is a difficult and awkward process, and even while doing that I am here because I think the suction is poor, and just checking I don't have a fault one or have broken mine.
So does your mum still have this machine and if yes, is it still going?
Hi, just wondered which vax machine would be better the W90-RU-B or the W86-DP-B? Any suggestions as I just can't make up my mind.
Tara Haffenden Highgate
Why doesn't vax send you a new hose
Good video. Could do with a bit less volume for the noisy bits though! :-)
There's a button for that
Does anyone know do we have to use 'Ultra plus" only or can we use other brands?? any suggestions?? thanks
You can use other brands as long as they are designed for carpet washers and are low foaming.
