    MRIs show up tumours more clearly in dense breasts than it does in mammograms. If you are told you have dense breasts, you can ask for a MRI if there is a concern re breast cancer. Too many women who have dense breasts are not told this.

    Thank you for clearing this very important difference and significance of being on the proper HRT vs no HRT and having dense breasts. I understand now why dense breasts are associated with cancer. I have very dense breasts, have been on estradiol patch and oral Prometrium since menopause, 13 years. I have a mother and sister who both had breast cancer but neither were on HRT. After my sister's diagnosis, I became very concerned I would be next. She also never had children, whereas I've had three and breast-fed each for 2-1/2 years, 2-3/4 years and 2 years. People thought I was crazy. I read books, (library back then) on importance of breast-feeding for baby and mom. I will discuss with my GYN before next mammogram, I don't want one anymore, but I'm fairly certain she will stop writing my script for HRT if I refuse mammograms. I love your videos, I'm subscribed, thank you very much!

    Mammo suggested suspicious growth. Underwent biopsy. Thankfully, negative. Ob gyn told me I had to do mammograms 2x a year. Years later, PCP told me it was way too much radiation exposure. I was confused then became upset by the conflicting opinions!

    I'm 72, always had fibrocystic breasts (since puberty, probably), breastfed 3 babies, and have never taken hormones of any kind, nor do I ever want to. I have dense breasts, Stage 3. Never had cancer. Ever since age 40, have had numerous unnecessary breast biopsies due to having mammograms, and now it's due to having calcifications on the mammograms. I'm ready to quit the mammograms, but I guess that's a separate issue. I want to thank you for explaining clearly that dense breasts do not CAUSE breast cancer, they simply cause existing breast cancers to grow. I appreciate knowing this, and my plan going forward will be to lose a few pounds and also get more exercise, which are other ways to reduce inflammation other than taking hormones. But that's just me. You do you!😊

I had to go back for an MRI. Your explanation of the relationship between inflammation and breast density was very helpful. Now I can put 2 in 2 together and see what I think is been going on. My past 10 years have been very difficult in the result in a diet and decides and what they need to be. I'm trying to. I'm mediterrane Diet and eliminating sugar which is very hard for me. I’ve had to hunt down a doctor who is willing to work with what I ask of him/her, not them telling me what to do. I’ve now been through enough trauma due to this misinformed “health care” culture to start being willing to demand what I KNOW my female body needs!

After 4 months I waited for another mammogram since the lump was growing. My second mammogram should malignant but more showed in ultrasound then I was send for biopsy. My surgeon refused to do the surgery and question why I was not send for biopsy and MRI. I was diagnosed stage 3 cancer and have to through 6 sessions of Chemo , radiation and hormone therapy.

I am post menopausal with dense breast tissue, just been diagnosed with lobular cancer tumour, obviously stopped the HRT which I had been on for over ten years. Since stopped the HRT the area feels a little calmer as my boobs sometimes used to feel as though they were exploding! This explanation about inflammation makes a lot of sense though as I understand this seems so be related to many disease states, or contributory, but I don't quite understand what is causing this, though perhaps linked to adrenal glands?

      In Australia I think we need a referral from a breast specialist to get an MRI. The GP cannot do this I believe. Least ways that’s what has just happened to me. I am on HRT, 60 and the breast ultrasound showed two suspicious lumps (not detected on the mammogram done the same day). I have refused to have a biopsy at this stage so have a referral to see a breast surgeon who the GP says can organize for me to have a mammogram. In the meantime I have been told by my GP to go off my HRT. I wasn’t happy so she said cut back the patches to one a week, not two. After listening to this video I think I’ll continue to have the two patches a week until I see the surgeon. It’s so confusing and stressful.

    Hi Felice.If someone has had breast cancer post menopause and has been told at the time they have dense breasts ,what can they do to improve the risk of further breast cancers if they cannot have HRT as contra indicated due to the cancer being driven by oestrogen?

    • @melissaculpepper7663

      She already said that E-1(Estrone) is the culprit, not E-2(Estradiol), which is vital to a female’s overall health. You must be informed and insist on. The hormones you need. A diabetic needs insulin(a hormone) to have better health.

  • @apriljohnson6191
    @apriljohnson6191 10 месяцев назад +4

    Thank you for that information and explanation. Given that estrone is a (or the) cause if I understand that right, then HRT for post menopausal women doesn't exactly fix the estrone problem; it just fixes the (lack of) estrogen issue. That means there is high estrone in the bloodstream. Is there any way to reduce estrone levels in blood?
    Thank you. 🙂

      Reduce overall inflammation, for starters, since that is the precursor for all diseases, as Felice stated. Lots of veggies, berries, Whole Foods, limited fatty foods, lean proteins, very limited processed foods, sunshine, vitaminD-3+K2, regular exercise that’s not too strenuous, limited, if no alcohol, and limited sugar. This will greatly improve your health and reduce inflammation in your body. Being on Estradiol and progesterone e(if you have a uterus) will reduce your inflammation because you will sleep better and your body will have the God-given hormones it needs to thrive!

That shouldn't in itself cause inflammation. Eating a poor diet, not exercising and being under stress causes inflammation, not a lack of estrogen. Am I missing something?

      If you still have a uterus you need to balance the estradiol with progesterone(oral). I take the estradiol patch(.075mg) and 200 mg. Progesterone(oral). Both are generic brands and I now have my vitality back! I’m 58, finally lost a good amount of weight, and feel like my younger self again! The vaginal estrogen is only for the vagina’s health; it doesn’t coarse throughout the body. Your vagina can’t have too much estrogen so use it!
