Not a bad laptop considering that they lowered the price, so that’s a good thing. I like that the display has 400 nits of brightness and that you can upgrade the SSD. I appreciate that you can hide the Stylus pen within the chassis of the laptop so you don’t lose it. The quality of the built-in 1080p webcam and mic are okay. It has great port selection, quad speakers and I’m glad that it comes with the latest DDR5 RAM technology. Just make sure you configure and go with the 32GB of RAM when ordering it if you so choose. Great job once again Andrew and thank you as always!
Nice PC. Camera and mics are good. Keyboard layout is good. The original price was a fantasy number. The new price is more realistic. Overall a good PC for those who want this type of unit. Great review as always.
As there aren't any full-reviews of the gen-8 version (yet), I really liked to watch this review of it's predecessor. Curious to know if you will get a gen-8 OLED for review...and if the gen-8 is worth the upgrade...? Many sites show the available specs of the gen-8 with a max of 64 Gb of RAM but on the Lenovo site you won't find it...maybe you can 😃😉 Keep the reviews coming! 👍
The big battery draw is that they went with the P series processors for the 2022 lineup, later offering the U series. In 2023 they have the U series processors as the primary, so battery life and thermals should be better. However, I think it is time for some updates to the design and thermals. Maybe for the new 14th Gen Intel next year we will see some changes with PCIE 5 and the supposed new AI coprocessors coming from AMD and Intel. I would also like to see this move to a 2.5k display vs the 4K. I know OLED is great but a good 2.5k panel would save battery and still give you a crisp image, just not as much pop as OLED
Great Review as always Andrew--- Super Professional and smooth production👌👌 If anyone is thinking about using any of these "Lenovo" products in a Corporate Environment, Forget that right now. Most all Airline, Government, and major companies have banned all Chinese Tech [specifically these Laptops] from their networks. Soon Lenovo will be banned as well, I am sorry to say. Samsung is the way to go to replace these Lenovo products.
Great review, I understand this i snot a gaming computer but how will it handle AUTOCAD software? I don 't run 3D rendering but I do use AUTOCAD 2D for my job. If this not meant for graphic in tense AUTOCAD, which ThinkPad do you recommend? Thank you.
where did you take this price from? ours, for this model starts from £2100 that is fully not equal to $1180 Hated the most trackpoint since my very first IBM ThinkPad T60
Why does the yoga 9i performs better by a huge difference ? I really can't decide between these two, the yoga 9i performs better, but I love thinkpad keyboards, please help me decide
Just got it a week ago, top-config with 4K OLED, 32GB RAM, i7 1260p, and what can I say... hot and loud, even with some basic tasks like youtube video or a zoom call... The only mode it doesn't get hot and loud is power efficiency, which makes everything buggy and slow. And even in this mode the battery life is like 3hr top. Is there something wrong with my unit?
Thanks, Andrew. What do you think about the TP X1 Yoga gen 7 vs Yoga 9i. Is this a bit of a more expensive (corporate) version of a lesser expensive (home) convertible? What features (aside from the TrackPoint) are over-and-above the Yoga 9i?
The durability on the thinkpad will be better because of the MIL-STD 810H Rating. But the Yoga 9i is built really well so it comes down to whether you need consumer features such as the rotating sound bar etc.

@@timb6985 No, it does not. They are not required , like Lenovo, to send all user data to a Communist government for the intent of using that data against the USA. Actually, Lenovo is 26% owned by the CCP, Not sure if your aware.
hii do u think theres a huge difference between the 6th gen and 7th? Im coming from a 3rd gen and i'm just a med student so im wondering if i should have paid 300 more for the 7th gen?
Gen 6 has worse Webcam, sharper edges that can get uncomfortable, and older ddr ram and wifi technology. However it is cooler to the touch and has slightly better battery life.
I just bought an 8th gen, and the trackpad is horrible. When my fingers get a bit sweaty, the friction is high, and the pointer is sometimes not moving, and I need to press my finger really hard against it to force it to react. It's really disappointing for a supposedly premium laptop. Lenovo just has too many product lines to keep each one of them reliable. Also, the pen is too thin to use.
I just bought an X1 Yoga G7, i5-1240P, vPro, 16/512/ same screen as in this review, and 1YR premier (NBD on-site) warranty for my wife. $1044 w/$31 rewards cash. I think the current sale ends 22JUNE.23. Closing out the G7 models.
@@gabrielbuatois6951 A bit late (Had troubles w/RUclips sign in after a Windows reload). The i5/16/512 is more than enough for my wife's needs. As always, it depends on your use case. There aren't any G6, i7s currently listed so I don't know what screen was available. Personally, I think that the 4K screen is too much for the 14" form factor--again, depends on your use case (and eyes!).
@@jf7445 We love it. For the usual Office 365 tasks (Email, Word, Excel), browsing, RUclips, it doesn't even get warm. We are in no way taxing the system.
@danieloherrick6332 Ya im mostly using it for my masters. Would be pretty basic programs like word, one note etc so I think it should be fine. I love the look of the Lenovo yoga 9i tho so I'm trying to decide
Im getting about 4-5 hrs of real world use off this battery. 1250p i5 chip, 1920x1200 IPS screen. Top left gets warm and fans are on (but pretty quiet) half of the time with typical daily use. Got a pretty good deal on it and I like everything else about it, but the above two issues are pretty disappointing, especially the battery life.
I have this very laptop for work. It was an upgrade from the Gen 4. Compared to the G4, this Gen 7 has absolutely atrocious battery life. It’s an i5 with 16GB of RAM, but it would last half as long as the G4. The fan is constantly spinning when I’m doing emails and Word documents and it gets unbelievably hot to touch. Avoid this model altogether. I hope the newer models are better.
I just noticed Lenovo also has the ThinkPad x13 Yoga Gen3. Looks like THAT is going to be my next laptop and will be returning the X1 Yoga Gen7. Those sharp edges on the keyboard deck is unbearable
60hz with a stylus? Baaaad.. and the camera is also too bad to be a proper business device in 2023.. this product will fail .. who should be the customer here? Thinkpad are mit meant to be for consumers that’s the ideapads

Great Review - thorough..... answered everything I needed to know.

Hi Andrew, great review 🙂👍
Any chance you can make a video comparing this laptop against Lenovo Yoga 9i?

3000 Euro for the 4k model. This is far too much for a machine without dedicated graphics.
