    I am a former cocaine addict almost two months deep into sobriety and on psychiatric treatment, untitled #2 felt like the most relatable feeling of being suicidal, mentally ill and addicted at the same time, I used to listen and cry rivers to it after failing my promise of every morning, "tonight I will not get high" "these next lines are my last ones" etc, the pain of simply existing and being a walking wasted chance of a human being who failed his partner and family. Now that all of it is behind, it also feels like a beautiful call to life, the song feels like all my darkness trapped into an isolated place I can revisit to put things in perspective and rejoice in the beauty of life and love, John Frusciante saved my life in big part.

      Pete Townsend's 'Blue, Red, and Grey' broke me down in that same way. Something about an off-the-rails rock God pouring himself out on a ukulele caught me at my most hopless and lost. It was no fairytail from that point on, but that was the emotional toe-hold I needed to start the climb back into life. Here's to the healing powers of music. Hang in there.

      He has come a long way from them days when he was lying on the floor in his house skinny as and high as kite that stuff had to happen I think to create his own strength and use it as torture so he knows what the other side is and he im proud of him he could of been anywhere else but alive if he carried e5 more minutes the ghosts started haunting him telling him hay man you are not finished yet and you still alive go back and you will be amazed with what awaits I believe it to he was to young to be in such a massive band that he wasn't ready to deal with the other things that come with it stuff he through his guitar was all he needed but he needed to grow himself up in himself instead of being outside in he's now able to get in to it not out of it 5 mins away from the end after 11, million spent on drugs he said

    That's so strange and true. Maybe not the exact same concept but yesterday I was on the guitar around 2 hours. Started to get tired. Was about to finish so I just layed on my back, still holding the guitar, I was randomly doing something without trying and not even looking at my hands or the fret board, and found myself play something I liked that I didn't come up with whilst paying attention the previous 2 hours. Ever happen to anyone?

    • @brandonterzic
      @brandonterzic 2 года назад +7

      yes...what happened with you, or so it sounds like to me, is that you entered the realm of "non-striving"...
      It sounds strange, but facility and technique often get in the way of a genuine self expression. When people are "good" at doing something, they end up doing that thing instead of playing from an internal/emotional center. When you get rid of any intention of being "good" or "skillful", you often fall back into the innocence of just feeling sound and tone color. Now, the real trick is to balance mechanics/process with inspiration. That is where you achieve mastery.

    This album is so incredibly unique. For a lot of artists, drugs are part of the creative process. In my opinion, this album encapsulates the surreal, dark and often nonsensical parts of an addiction. It's the most raw an album could ever be. It's like a battle between John's working consciousness and the heroin.
    I'm just glad he got clean and made some of the most memorable songs of all time. If anything, this album is a direct insight into the haunting tribulations of substance abuse.

All ur albums have distinct moods and associations that are very personal to me and have often facilitated emotional healing and awareness. Thanx for bucking the status quo and in being a Tru musician, have made music and sounds scapes that transcend the norm and evoke other dimensions beyond human consciousness and certainly popular musical and artistic culture...
