Not many times in my life have I gotten chills from a metric/rhythm change but Altered State is so full of great stuff and without using a lot of notes, just the groove keeps you hooked
@@MirkoFustinoni i reckon Exile takes the cake for that but yeah, most of Altered State outside of Of Matter and Nocturne is ironically underrated as hell (funny considering it's their most acclaimed album)
@@sirdo946 Agreed, the groove at the end of Exile (starting 7:11) is one of the best on the album (and therefore another one of the best grooves ever written, as Altered State is one of the best albums ever written in the genre). But the one that does it the most for me is that one groove in Eclipse (starting 2:37). THAT is singlehandedly the best groove on the album.
Tesseract really do have their own sound/style and Jay's playing is a big part of that. In a genre where a lot of guys tend to sound the same, he stands out and you can recognize his style.
Absolutely monstrous playing! Love that whether you're smacking the crap out of it, or just playing dynamically quieter parts on it, your snare always has a killer tone!
And lead erosion to it ALLLLLL…. Ashe delivered a vocal masterclass. Altered State is one of my top 5 recordings. Jay is a monster player. So underrated.
Wow finally a playtrough of this masterpiece! The entire album is a blind journey for the prog world of Tesseract, and now my eyes can see the way and learn the drum parts of the author’s first hand ! Thank you Jay and Meinl ❤
Finally Jays talent comes to light in a major way. Congrats on the success from mainstream although your validation has always been exeplified in your playing. Great work as always!
Man, this is such a cool mix of the instrumentals. They sound a little more dialed back and clear, even without accounting for Ashe being gone from the mix.
Esta es mi canción favorita del disco altered state, me parece que es una de las canciones mas complejas, excelente que hayas hecho el video tocando este tema, maravilloso.
I have been a Tesseract fan and Jay Postones has been a HUGE inspiration for me. His snare ghost notes are haunting! When did he get endorsed by Meinl cymbals? I know he sounded killer with HH Sabians and DW endorsed on the Sonder album. Gotta say those Byzance cut good in his playing!
IIRC peoples' ears are naturally drawn to melodies, so it can be distracting even to someone actively listening for the drum parts. Also these promotional playthroughs are advertisements at the end of the day, so they want people to clearly hear the cymbals. My 2c anyway
im just here for the drum HONEYYY
that's hardcore tesseract fan!!
i bought them because of him 😂 Drum honeyyy😏

Singularity/Embers is probably one of the most underrated songs in Tesseract discography... Pure perfection from start to finish

Nobody naturally showcases cymbals during their playing better than Jay Postones
When you are flexing this hard on your kit.. you cant help but smile. Dude is a legend among drummers.
TesseracT is one of thee top bands period. And Jay's drumming is phenomenal. The energy and excitement in his playing is just awesome.

I love this album so much. Thanks for choosing to record a play-through for this tune, Jay.

His enthusiasm for playing this music is infectious.
@ 7:41 is how I feel watching Jay drum.
One decade being a masterpiece composition. Thanks, Jay ❤️
This is the most beautiful set of cymbals I've ever seen in my life.
Aye it’s a good advert init

Jay has a video on his personal channel playing this song with a click track, I think it would be very useful for you ☺️
Incredible Playing - no matter what you're doing around the kit, you're always pumping steady 4s or 8s on the hi-hat pedal. World class independance.
I feel like there's a number of levels you go through as a drummer, beginner, intermediate, advanced, expert, GOD. Jay has reached GOD.
The musical quality of that band is just phenomenal. Every song is a masterpiece. Awesome drum parts
such a complex track!! amazing playing!! loving every bit of this!
FINALLY something on youtube that El Siberiano Estepario cant do a one handed cover of. 🤘🤣 Awesome work!
Brilliant. Loved the comments at the end too. I laughed out loud!!
In LOVE with that 22" Vintage crash.
The 22 inch Byzance Vintage on his right will be on my set in about five days.❤
Hell yeah! I remember becoming a TesseracT fan 10 years ago, after hearing the first 2 minutes of this song.
The cymbal work and ghost note variation is unreal. 🤘 And that tom part is so melodic
Finally Jays talent comes to light in a major way. Congrats on the success from mainstream although your validation has always been exeplified in your playing.
Great work as always!
The snare has no business sounding THAT good. Well done @meinl
My favorite era of TesseracT ❤

Cymbals and drums sound amazing. Cool track
Jay is so wonderfully consistent, he´s so awesome... by the way, that 22" vintage crash sounds amazing!
These drum-centric mixes should be on Spotify or something!!!
Oh my god the cymbal choices are so damn good.
Transitions are insane, omg...
Phenomenal !!!! I thoroughly enjoy listening to my favorite Tesseract songs through a drum centric perspective.
Come for the drumming, stay for the "drum honey".
NO WAY 😭😭 THIS IS MY FAVOURITE SONG OF THEIRS omg thabk you Meinl
Goated album. Still probably your best work in terms of sheer djent brilliance. Exile is still my favorite all time TesseracT track.
Man, this sounds incredibly good! Love the snare especially much!
You can tell he likes that 22" Vintage crash. 😂 Great sounding cymbals, and great drummer.
everyone's already said it but that 22" vintage crash is so sexy
It’s insane that he kept that left foot going for so long.
He’s having so much fun!
So glad this song was selected
Love this song and it's nice to see full drum playthrough here🤟
Jay always killing it with groove on the Drums
Holy metric modulation, Batman!
Another incredible vid made extra special by the inclusion of Jay. Love TesseracT 🤘
The polyrhythm he starts at 7:18 is a gem
Absolutely love this vids from Jay. Please keep them coming!
Truly next level
Meinl Drum Honey is clearly the most loved cymbals among Meinl drummers
8:55 is in my top 10 fills ever
8:02 The time signature's so intricate, it unleashes Stevie Wonder vibes within
One of my favorite song from Tesseract! Lets fucking gooo!!!!!
What a tasty tune, you can really feel it
I wish i can play like this some day 😍💪🏽
Came because some guy said "Jay Postones' snare is haunted af" with all the ghost notes, and I'm definitely pretty spooked by this vid ngl.

LOOK HOW FUCKING HAPPY HE IS ❤️😄
one of my fav songs! so sick!
killer snare sound bro

I think he’s been with them a few years by now!😅
NO WAY he played Embers too? Fuck yeah
THAT SNARE IS FUCKING AMAZING
I'm here mainly to listen to the end bit about Drum Honey.
Him and Bryce from Shadow Of Intent have to be the two happiest looking drummers 😂
Love that one of his lugs on the floor is completely loose
I love this channel 🤘🤘🤘
super cool
Goddamn Jay. Goddamn it.
The album version of this song with the ekit sounds good but this song with real drums is just amazing.
Alright so i might have a new favorite drummer.
Yesss I love the drums in this song so much. Y'all seen the music video tho? 👀😳
Meinl drum honey 😏 but also... TWENTY TWO INCH CRASH?!! 😱🤯
Yeah, this is amazing! Jay, you're a beast, even if you can't say Meinl Drum Honey properly lol!
That floor tom is tuned on the floor ! XD
Running a marathon is easier than drumming a 10 minutes song.
Epic!!!!
Let’s get some sungazrrrr in here
The drum honey, though :'D
Beast ❤
The dynamics and techniques in his playing is astonishing. 👀🖤🫡
Yes!!!!!!!!!
nice video
The only drummer I know that can make drums sound sexy @02:01
Ya-ya-ya i like
The cymbals are great, but what Snare is that? 😮💨
Wow😮😮😮😮😮😮😮🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
hbomberguy can really play!
Tyson Fury, amazing drummer!
God damn
Sick video. Why didn't they use the actual song's instrumental version though? This mix sounds weird as hell.
Hot pockets
why no lyrics tho? (I mean, I get it, it's a drum playthrough, but still, I'm curious)
