He has quickly become one of my favorite drummers. Very technical but everything he plays also seems attainable. And by god his cymbal choice is ridiculous. They all compliment each other and his playing so well.
@vonbeaver99 umm I think your definition of straightforward is a bit off mate. Don't tell other drummers trying to learn Jays pieces they're straightforward and get their hopes up. Its opposite of straightforward and its a challenge to Jay too. You can learn but it will take dedication, discipline, and time... and magical limb independence 🤣
Damn... Jay's ability to come up with such tasty ghost and tom fills between every gaps of the guitar riff never cease to amaze me! Such an inspiration! 👏
What I find phenomenal about Jay, other than his mind bending grooves, is the space he leaves between cymbal hits. Even though every snare and bass drum hits are precise and calculated, his cymbal sweeps are left to feeling and it lets the song breathe. He's a true master of his art.
For me it's the insane Time keeping on that hi hat pedal while just traveling the rest of the kit so masterfully! Jay is truly one of the most incredible modern drummers.
I will never get over the little dance between the drums and bass halfway through the song. To me it's more than a groovy beat, it feels like it fits between the context of the song / ending of the album. 10/10 performance! Love seeing how excited Jay is behind the kit!
This song is so bloody hard to play! Been trying to dissect that part at 3:08 - The stack is playing in 7 over the top of whatever the hell that bass part is in. Blows my mind every time, incredible 😵💫
This guy is the king of ghost notes and backbeat... his drum line is almost never a "straight line" and it's not boring to listen to, it's creative, he brings harmony to the cymbals! Esse cara é o rei das notas fantasmas e do contra tempo... a linha de bateria dele quase nunca é uma "linha reta" e não é chato de ouvir, é criativo, ele tira harmonia dos pratos!
God damn! Jay is absolutelly fantastic! These cymbals are fantastic. But how flow he looks like during the play. The focus since 3:14 is so impressive! This is one of the best song of the WoB Album, better choice to close this amazing job! What a song!
Such a great song. Jay has this unique ability to just push and pull. Be powerful and then pull back. I had no idea there was a new album out until yesterday. It’s beautiful.
As a fellow drummer all these videos are pure awesomeness. Just saw them in Atlanta and of course an awesome show and Jay is absolutely one of my faves. One of the best in the world alongside Garstka, Halpern, Haake, Duplantier, Dailor, Carey, Harrison, Hoglan, Lombardo. Met Dan and Amos after and was hoping to meet Jay, but didn't want to be the irritating nuisance. Trying to cover War of Being now and what an absolute epic and incredibly hard to learn. 4 4 6 7. Thats what I wanted to say to him 😂
Saw Tesseract in Tampa, and can't help but feel Jay and Amos may well be one of the best rhythm sections in all of metal. And as a fellow drum nerd, I too know how challenging trying to learn and perform Tesseract can be. BTW, I don't think I would put Dailor in the same stratosphere as Garstka and Gavin Harrison and the others you mentioned. Dailor's vocabulary of fills is limited and overly repetitive in my eyes and ears, although I do enjoy Mastodon.
Very true. I love playing some of Brans stuff when feeling Mastodon like and getting in a good cardio workout, but nowhere near as mind bending to learn. I've been thinking about even taking some of Jay's classes I saw he has. He seems to be a great teacher too and helps with not making it feel so overwhelming at times.
i love watching Jay play! 🖤 Extremely artistic and beautiful style of drumming and Sacrifice just became my favorite TesseracT Song. 🔥 Listening to this instumental version on repeat for hours already. Just wow! 🖤
Yet another perfect example of a drummer playing his role perfectly. This is so pleasing in every aspect. Sonically, rhythmically, and he is a stud to boot. LOL. Only complaint. No duck footage.
I agree Daniel Tompkins absolutely nailed his part. As much as I love the vocals on the album, a version where the drums are able to shine in all their glory is something I really appreciate as well.
Just sublime. I'd be happy to just play the song on drums minus the fills... just nail the timing and grooves. So much going on. The song is killer too.
Yr a bad ass dude. As if ya didn't already know... Yr doing Burden next right..?😁 If you guys do a 2nd leg in the states, I'd 💩my pants if y'all added this and Burden to the setlist. Those 2 tunes jst kinda stand out above the rest in my book. Not to say WOB isn't over the top, and likely my fav. "Tess" to date..But thr just sooo damn good..!!

0 chance I attain this
@@audiophizile13 Not with that attitude! Go get it, man!
It’s pretty straightforward, dont be intimidated

@@vonbeaver99 The majority of people wouldn't be able to keep time with the hi-hat
Jay really has managed to carve out a distinct style among the sea of great djent drummers and that's very impressive.
Damn... Jay's ability to come up with such tasty ghost and tom fills between every gaps of the guitar riff never cease to amaze me! Such an inspiration! 👏
Goodness. The best thing on the internet today. And no vocals and just feeling the song. Oh maaan thank youuuu.

I never anticipated a drumming video this much before.

Beautiful blend of melodic, musical, and technical playing.
It really is

I’m always looking forward for the drum honey, never gets old
Same here! 😂
DrUm honey 😏
Not a single hesitation or "oops was my hand supposed to go here" this video gets better every time I watch it.
Such elegantly written parts! Beautiful to watch.
Jay is an artist in the true sense of the word.
Loved those post tones
Totally agree. His drumming abilities cymbals.
Most uplifting closer to an album I've heard in forever. Bravo!
Lots of things to love about TesseracT, but Jay might be the top one.
I just love it. Insanely groovy, everything just fits perfectly.
I just want playthroughs of this quality for the entire album at this point.
Yay, Jay Postones posts tones :D

Nobody does it like you, man, the Jedi Master of Drumming!
Amazed by your talent, as much as the writing of this masterpiece... Thank you for sharing
Besides Jay's playing can everyone appreciate the beautiful sounds they cymbals produce! 🤘🤘
Groovy and filled with emotions, this song is a masterpiece. I love the timbre of this drumset, sounds so round and tasty.
Keep these coming!
Phenomenal cymbal work. So melodic!
One of my fav thing about his play style
Simply outstanding. There's a great layered swing to this tune!
Such a great song. Jay has this unique ability to just push and pull. Be powerful and then pull back. I had no idea there was a new album out until yesterday. It’s beautiful.
Every note is exactly where it's meant to be.
What a beautiful drum set, specially seen from above

So, so good. Beautiful creative parts, precision playing and production is gorgeous. Great work.

This song brings tears to my eyes
Absolutely amazing drumming and amazing song
You are a beast seriously. I love the song but I never realised how complex and thorough the drums are.
Jay was getting it in! Love his drumming!
Best song on the album.
The vocals missing seem almost criminal for this album. Daniel Tompkins really nailed the vocals. Really just a fantastic album all around.

@@Herbert. Fair enough. Great track.
Absolutely superb Jay
🥰🥰🥰 Thanks Meinl Cymbals!
My favourite track off the new album, Drums sound incredible!
Fav tune off the new LP just saw them live last month awesome show!
favorite song from the album
The meinl drum honey bit always gets me hahah
The sound of Equilibrium China, eargasmic af!
great seeing you in Tampa. First time seeing Cymbal reflectors/barriers on a live kit too. Flawless performance from what I could hear!
That show was so awesome! I'm super looking forward to them coming back! 🤘😁
Jay Postones has the most intense drumface ever, I love it
Wow, this is AMAZING! 😮
So beautiful
Can we just applaud the time keeping of his left foot on the hi hat
Legend as always
TREMENDO PELAOOOOO! un duro tocando la bataca, muy buenos los temas que tiene siempre tocando con TESSERACT. La mayoría son muy muy buenos.
when he play cymbals his hands is ocean waves
Again Jay killing it!!! Such a pleasure to watch ! Thank you for this 🙏🙏🙏
Flawless victory
Cymbal selection is fucking Grade A my guy. Just dark enough to not get lost, just explosive enough to get out of the way.
The amount of fun Jay is visibly having is infectious. His facial expressions are on par with Michael League's stank face.
Man this makes me want a 22" Vintage crash so bad. Jay alone selling me on em.
Fav song 🎧
Great performance, wish I could leave this guy a tip.
Não curto quando o batera é "abobadão" tocando, mas é inegável o groove do cara. Muito bom.
I demand a conversation with him explaining this madness and how it was created!
eres el mejor lejos !!!!
effortless 🤘
I always imagine that his drums smile back at him.
i demand a jay postones vs matt halpern drum-off
The best!!
Sooooo sick
Unreal
Just sublime. I'd be happy to just play the song on drums minus the fills... just nail the timing and grooves. So much going on. The song is killer too.
I love this dude so much that when they recorded that live show with another drummer I couldn't even watch it
Monuments' drummer Mike Malyan's performance on P O R T A L S was outstanding and graceful. Watch it!
Yeah bro I love Jay too but you gotta watch that shit the whole things is a masterpiece
@@mantistoboggan6977 I tried and couldn't get into it. For me Jay is too much of a fundamental piece for the band. I can't dig it without him.
Nice drumming...
Beast
EPIC!
lets fucking go
My God Jay, your'e an octopus!
I wanna see drummers react to this and his concealing fate play through 🔥
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
those sexy little snare rolls hiding in the 4:00 section..
Best band, best drummer!
7:30 🤣lol
Saw this comment, I knew what it was 👌🏻🤣
feel the rythm
Now he's older, stronger, wiser...

Not Human
such a perfect cymbal setup. If I had the cash I would go for exactly the same. Sadly I got bills to pay :')
👍👍👌
@ 06:03 to the end just send me on a fuckin journey!
Why does he have 2 behringer P16s?
one is for an ears mix and the other was for an output to a tactile monitoring throne
Can anyone hear the hi-hat when he's playing it with his foot?
It's more about keeping time than it's sound
