Love that MaryCarl she is a blessing. She definitely needs 22 pairs of shoes y'all. She is a growing girl and needs to be able to coordinate her Chicken, Pidgeon, Duck and Goose outfits with the appropriate footwear. A young Aviary Queen needs to have the right shoes for daily duties.....
Shoes are everything‼️❣️😉
I agree 😍
Ok but, what is a blessing? Is that American slang for something? You said, she is a blessing? You lost me there.
Funny story. I had to fly to Texas from Kentucky and so I took a Dramamine. Well when we got ready to land, the man next to me woke me up to tell me😂. I had fallen asleep on that poor man’s shoulder😂😂😂😂
My friend has 9 miniature donkeys and one full-sized. The miniature ones do not protect themselves from prey. The large one does though.
Yes, and I have heard the miniature donkeys have more health problems than a standard donkey. Never had a mini myself, only small and medium standards. Also really need to have at least 2 donkeys together, as they are such a social animal and will be lonely if you have only one.
My son-in-law's dad use to have a huge bee operation. He even had an 18 wheeler that he would take bees to different places. But he sold his farm a few years ago. He even had honey in stores. It was called Johnson Honey
Jason, Why not call it "The Cog Cast", You say it all the time , It's a perfect name
"Picken and a Grinnen" is also used in the North, we also called it a HOOTINANNY. Love your podcasts, y'all are GREAT!!!!
I saw on one homesteading video where they got a greenhouse for free in exchange for letting the company set it up and film it for their website. Cool company 👍.
Pam Mansfield here. The bees are so great for your fruit orchard to help pollinate! Great idea with the Bee Keeper. Benefits without the work!
Hi 👋 Y'all ...I LOVE 💘 your pages....I so look forward to every update and being WITH y'all on your journeys....I'm Almost as excited as you are every time I watch your videos...love Love LOVE ALL of you!
Have you seen Lesters' Father's Ivan? He is a sweetie. Also DJ Arms has a new miniature spotted Donkey that she has named Phoebe? That cutie is adorable.
Yep
Lester Ivan w bottle fed and djs donkeys are not friendly... that's why bottle feeding is the way to go with them
Absolutely love your podcasts. So excited to see the notification that you had published one. The picture of Snow White and Brooke was brilliant. I can say that your podcasts are like meeting up and having coffee with family or friends. You have me laughing out loud at times. Keep it up
Would love to meet you guys!!
One of Daniel's donkey is expecting. You should talk to them next week at the Okie festival. Their regular donkeys do fine with the dogs.
I would only trust a donky if it's a bottle fed donkey or bought as a baby
Daniel doesn't have regular donkeys. Only minis.
@@scottfindley7284 DJ has one mini one. I didn't know the others were mini too
@@KellyWatts1302 they're both mini's
Those bee s will be so good at your farm, they will pollinate your flowers and your fruit trees as well as your veggies. I’m glad to hear that someone will be doing that at your farm. So nice
we saw Brook’s mom in a video once with MaryCarl and thought MaryCarl looked so much like her grandma, so very pretty all of you Cog Hill ladies are 💜
Whitch video is that, , love to see grandmother.
My cousin has a tree farm in Georgia, and the company called "The Bees Knees" brought hives to her property. They maintained them them completely, and would leave a big jug of fresh honey on her front porch for the family after they left each time they came. She still loves having them there!
Donkeys are very protective animals. They will alert if any danger is in the area.
I ordered your Cog Hill Sunflower Collection from Hoss as a gift. They were wonderful, shipped immediately and the recipient was thrilled with the box they came in and of course were thrilled with the variety of seeds. Thank you. Love your podcast and YT channel. ♥️☮️🌻
I have 2 hives at my place that belong to someone else. Nice to have them here and nice not to have to take care of them. The best honey!!
Hi Coghill. I thought you might like what I did while camping. I got two rectangle tubs with lids. We put our shoes in one and the other was jackets . Then I'd slide them under the trailer. Hope this helps you. Take care.
Excellent idea
I love pickin' & grinnin' . Everyone brings a dish and usually the guys cook meat. Anyone that can play music does the pickin'
I like the greenhouses you make out of old windows.
Good Afternoon Cog Family & Squad good to see!
Hi guys. It's always a WONDERFUL DAY 😊 when you can hear and see you guys. But, please listen to the weather carefully. I hear we're in for two more storms headed across the country this March. Praying 🙏 everyone stays safe. G-D Bless.
Just add Mildred's formula to her grain. Don't put as much water in it and stir it into her grain. That way she gets the added nutrition but doesn't have to take the bottle.
Happy Sunday Cog Squad! God’s blessing on you!
Brooke and Jason you are both great people. Loved the Pod Cast. Thanks 🇨🇦
I would ask my mom what's for dessert, and she would answer with , wind pudding and walk around sauce. Which means talking and walking around.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE consider getting a donkey from your local auction house and save a life! So many get shipped to slaughter for their hides. Most are perfectly lovely who have just been neglected! Rescue a life in need?
Oh I can't wait till y'all get a donkey! For sure once you put Moody and Mildred in a pasture you should think about making sure you have a grown donkey to add in there. They really are great at helping keep the cattle safe. They are really good at protecting.. but I'd get it early enough so as to it can bond to them and be grown enough to be able to handle a predators. I love the one Daniel got over at Arms.. so freaking CUTE!!!
Loved the bone meal, daffodils and Petey story 😊 It's really hard to imagine you upset and fussing Jason but that was sure a good reason to!
Very entertaining podcast today. Lots of good stories. 😂. Ya all are the salt of the earth. 💞
Glad your alright and everyone is safe
Your Cogcast was enjoyable and informative once again. Thank you both and may God continue to bless you and yours.
contact Horse Plus rescue they get lots of donkey and mini horses too!! They have a youtube channel and also a website to look at whats available for adoption They do so many good things for them. They are located in Tennesee. Love what you're doin with the farm so far... luv your videos
As always, I really enjoyed the podcast. I always know what you're talking about when you use southern words. I've been in Tennessee all my life and talk just like you do. It's nice to hear some of the old sayings I don't hear as much any more. I enjoyed the questions and answers. I'm hoping Brooke's mom will let us have a little peek at her sometime. I totally understand though. I don't like my picture taken. Thank you for sharing your family and animals. You always make me smile.
Good thang I speak fluent country slang. Like, "my mama get's on to me like white on rice!" and I could go on and on with funny southern terms we use...it just is natural to speak that way, and I love it.
Hello my friends this is me Darrell from Victorville California
Hey 👋 ya'll from a grateful 🙏 great grandma 👵 in Toledo Ohio ( chilly here too ) but Spring is in 7 days..hope Brooke and Marycarl are wearing the warm socks I sent..I still need a size for Marycarl in a long sleeve sun shirts??
Stay safe 🙏 and warm..
I would get her a med in teens if I was going to get a shirt for MaryCarl if that helps you any. I have 3 girls, grown now and this is when they all fit 14-16 for a few years now in teens or a small in ladies. Good luck 👍🍀❤️💐🙏🏻😃
@@donnamumm2701 thank you ,I have 11 grands and 3 greats lol but do ya know, not 1 girl is close to Mary Carl's age ..lol 😄 so I appreciate it. I figured about a Small in ladies too. My granddaughters in Florida wear them at the beach and o their boat..
Wind got us here in Ms also... Lost our 10x26 greenhouse and all our seedlings but all still safe and healthy so guess we'll just get a later start than usual in the garden
It must have been so hard to see the dead little sprouts.
What a wonderful day with. Our Cog Hill Family. Sunday afternoon in S.E. Tex. 19 degrees wow! Cold. 28 here.last night. Brook you guys are so funny 😂🤣 💕💕💕💕💕
I love southern talk, I was raised in Ky and had a lot more of southern things like that. I lived in Ohio for 44 years and retired and came back to Georgetown Ky. You can take me out of Ky, but you can’t take Ky out of me🙏❤️👍
I’ve always been “happier than a hog in a slop bucket”! Born & raised in So. California but my dad raised pigs in Oregon when he was young, hence the saying came down to me.
About twenty years when we were literally paycheck to paycheck I just had to have this special plant that had a different flower. It was 12.99! I got it and put bone meal in the hole and planted that special plant. The next morning I looked out and it looked different!! My small rat terrier had dug it up for the bone meal and it looked like he had planted it back, except that it was upside down. Lucky for my dog I saw it early and the plant survived but it took awhile. Then on a more sober topic, when my husband died he was cremated. I sprinkled a small bit of his ashes, without permission, at a local public landscaped area between some Azaleas. I told family if they wanted a place to walk and remember him they could go walk that park. I sprinkled a teaspoon around his parent’s grave. Then I buried the rest in the green strip of land I can see out my kitchen window, also no permission. Actually I had no idea that it was not allowed. I was not thinking real clearly. But the coyotes dug it up. I had to decide it was God allowing Bobby’s ashes to go all over that area and benefit the whole area😳
I am thrilled to death to hear you will be assisting pollination. Having beekeepers as your friends is a win/win for the future of your flower farm.
Pickin' and grinnin' is an old country saying meaning there was gonna be a party with live music. Anyone who played an instrument would bring it along and there would be food, dancing as ND d lots of music. Or sometimes musicians would get together at someone's house on a Saturday night, sit around with food and music.
Hello, hope you are doing great. It was 14 degrees last night, and so far my peas have made it. 7b Tennessee
A heated hoop green house, it holds up to high winds, Aaron on @gardenanswer has one.
If y'all are going to get a donkey, as a guardian, it's got to be a full size, as mini's are too small.
That said, I would love to have to have donkeys!
Great podcast!
❤️🌵☀️⛈️🌈🐎🐐
I agree mini's are too small for guardians but if you got a mini, maybe you could tie it to Joe and teach him some manners. HaHa. They are good trainers.
@@gaylepowers3981 😂😂😂
That pic of Brooke and the donkey is just sooo sweet! I love donkeys.
"The Big Moo" I love it
A donkey or two would fit right in with you all ♥️, I've just had my sister and brother in-law put a greenhouse up today what they gave me a while ago, it's plastic panels and I'm worried about the wind breaking it already 🤦♀️🤷♀️I can't wait to see all the lovely flowers and trees to start growing,I'm surprised Mary Carl hasn't tried putting any eggs under some of the silkies as they make good broodies and momma's, I love watching your new adventure ♥️ love from UK ♥️
Wooohoooo!! Cog Hill!
I think a HIGH TUNNEL green house is necessary with the heat you have in the summer.....Living Traditions has a really nice one, but, I REALLY like the job that Deep South Homestead did to the ones the have. I think that both places got there's from Growers Solution....I THINK.......I...
Regarding Brooke's Mom.....there is a picture of Brooke, Brooke's Mom and MaryCarl "sonewhere" that I had seen. The three "girls" look SOOOO MUCH alike!
Would a high tunnel hold up to the high winds?
I came to say the same thing. High tunnel from growers solutions would probably be a good option. I live pretty close to to Living Traditions Homestead and we get plenty of wind here(tornado took my house 2yrs ago). Also I believe the one Roots and Refuge installed in their Arkansas farm(now Whispering Willows Farm) is from Growers too and they get lots of wind there.
@@AkinsFamilyHomestead I'm so very sorry to hear that you lost your house to a tornado two years ago. I can't imagine how devastating that must be.
Thanks. Yes it was. We are currently rebuilding. It's a long process but we are better prepared for bad weather now.
Hi ya, greetings from Australia….I do love these podcasts as it feels like you are just across the table from me and we are having a “chin wag” (a chat)…love to Nugget, my Aussie mate…🇦🇺🇦🇺🦘🦘🦘🇦🇺🇦🇺
Y'all will have it all figured out about the time the house is finished. We lived 5 months in our 22 ft trailer in 2020.
Hello Jason and Brooke and Mary Carl glad I caught this podcast yay thank you for all your videos love them and yous
Hello. Love your podcast! I am 85 years young! You brighten my days love Mary Carl she is so Sweet and smart . Gods blessings
Hello guys,
You are awesome to watch.
I enjoy every podcast and show
Please keep it up and God bless you all

This was another great podcast. I lived by St Louis Mo & grew beautiful peonies. I wondered about Mary Carl's name , so now I know. I did not know that Brooke's name is Olivia which is one of my favorite girls name. I know your Southern phrases & pronunciations because my Granny was from Arkansas & my father grew up in Southern Mo. & I heard those phrases all of the time. I just love when Jason says "you'll come on now., & get you some" Granny said that when she called us to supper. My Granny was born in 1888 & lived to be almost 100. I also know & have eaten the foods you all talk about. Granny also said lunch was dinner & your evening meal was supper.
In California Beekeeping is a thriving industry. When we visited in Fresno, CA it was a common sight to see trailer trucks loaded with hives going down the highway transporting Bees to another farm. The beekeepers produced several different tasting Honey and it was sold at the side of the orchards. When we lived in Illinois we had three puppies and on the first day every month the puppies got their Heart Guard. In Illinois we raised goats and we had a donkey because of the dogs and Coyotes, the donkey will chase the dogs, and Coyotes. We kept him in the pasture with the goats and our puppies ignored him. I had several neighbors who walked on our road and they would bring a Apple for him.
Try giving Mildred her milk in a bucket. Love you guys!
That’s how Lester’s dad Paw Paw got Ivan to drink his milk. He didn’t like the bottle but he would drink it from the bucket every time. Good idea Caroline I had forgotten that.

Trying to stay warm in Ohio.
you can plant buckwheat as a cover crop. we do and the insects LOVE it! also another great beneficial attractor is garlic chives! not only are they great to eat but attracts amazing beneficials!! they are perennial and you can divide them to plant other places.
The blooms are MANY and it is a short cover crop. approx 30 days. Have a blessed day!
Good afternoon Cog Hill and all of the Cog Squad. Lovely to hear from y’all. Love your videos and podcasts.
I was watching Iowa dairy farmer's channel. He said their calves wean at 6 to 8 weeks. They start eating grain and hay at around 4 weeks and progress to the point that they stop going to the robot milk feeder for milk. Also baby pigions are called squabs.
Roy Clark and Buck Owens were pickin' and grinnin' on Hee Haw.
Cogcast sounds like a good name! Ask your Petals guy Jason where they buy their greenhouse supplies.

Hi Y'all. I work with Life Safety Systems (fire alarms, cameras, security systems) so I wanted to make a suggestion. Since you're using combustible fuel for heating, get yourselves a carbon monoxide detector. Plug it in as close to the floor as you can because that's a very light gas; it starts at the floor and then moves upward. There's absolutely no smell, and that's what the problem is. You don't realize there's gas that could kill you. And of course, make sure you've got working smoke detectors in the bedrooms and know your points of egress for the camper.
A lot of people out here love you. We want to make sure everything is good for your family
You need a high tower like Arms family homestead has.
I don’t know for sure if their camper is like ours, but everyone we’ve had came with smoke alarms and gas and CO2 detectors. I think it’s an industry wide standard now, but every new one I’ve seen in the last five years has been equipped with them.
We had the same thing here in NW Fl. The wind was atrocious. Didn't rain much, and didn't destroy anything. I was so thankful. God bless Y'all.
Mildred is probably a freemartin. She is so small, so the odds is pretty high. We got one 30 y ago, and tried breeding her, but it did not stick. She was the most loving and funny pet heifer in a small body anybody could wish for.
I'm happy to see a brand new podcast for me to listen to.
This Sunday podcast was a real treat! Thank you!❤️😃
GOOD AFTERNOON FARM FAM! Roger in Pierre South Dakota
My Irish Grandma lived in West Virginia in her youth. She always said, "Bless your pea pickin' heart."
Hi there, glad you are safe! When we had our RV, I had 2 storage bins that were used for shoes, slippers, and the other was used for jackets, raincoats, etc. they were placed under our rig with their lids in tact! Great storage!
After the blooms, the radishes will form tons of gorgeous little green pods that taste DELICIOUS! Don't miss out on the radish pod munch!
We had a green house exactly like that one from Harbor Freight. It made it thru about 3 years. Many times we had to patch it up from high wind storms until the "Big One" finally did it in. We built a new one onto the side of our big outdoor shop. It works good with this one MAJOR exception. We put the clear polycarbonate panels on the top and sides. We also put a fan in one end and a vent in the other end. The problem is by the time late April - May gets here it is so hot that no plants will survive in there (North Georgia). So I WISH that we had built it with sides that could be rolled up to get more ventilation. Just remember that polycarbonate gets HOT early in the season and on the other hand it gets really cold in the winter time so forget housing plants in there from the cold. If we weren't as old as we are (75 & 78), we would tear off the polycarbonate on the side and redo it some way. With health issues, we will be doing a much smaller garden this year. The greenhouse we built is 8 x20 which gives shelves on each side and end that are 2 feet wide. That leaves plenty of space in the middle for buckets of potting soil etc.
I'm fixin ta tell y'all that we understand every word y'all say cuz we're from the South, too. We hope that the toad stranglers will hold off for a while til the building gets done and you can settle into the houses. Got me a Peaches shirt and I've done started campaignin. Love your show.
“Toad stranglers”‼️❣️😂Had to look it up- and I’m from MO‼️ Haven’t heard that one yet🤗❣️
Jason, my favorite, Green house is visit by Hoss Tools. Title "Garden Envy". If you haven't saw the video. please go watch. I thought about You when you live at the Little Cog..😊💜
ALWAYS LOVE YOUR PODCAST. IT IS THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY DAY
I live in North Carolina and picking and a grinning here is good food and music. I love watching y'all and wish you the best. Alabama is beautiful I lived in Greenville Ala. for about 6 years?
Garden Answers is the lady in the desert of Oregon. She doesn't just have the Hartleys, she's got a huge variety. She promotes Proven Winners, and is in the business. She does cut flowers, some plants for a University and has a huge nursery in the family. I watch her videos over and over again, she really knows her stuff.
Ooh, and I used to make a simple refrigerator pickle with dykons- super easy. They are so yummy!
2 nights in the past week our power was taken out by severe 35+mph winds. Last night it went out at 7:15pm & not on until 9:30am this morning. I’ve been in a camper w/o heat, there is no amt of blankets to keep you warm. That was our house last night, it just kept getting colder. Outside temp w/ wc was well below zero. Last night was the worst. I’m sooo ready for this winter to be over! We live in western NY. Fortunately the 2 horses are handling the weather fine. But I’m tired, flooded basement, trees coming down & when it thaws the mud is yet another issue. We lost a 60+ yo maple tree in Dec w/ 70mph winds, we are still dealing getting that cleared. It’s always something & I am praying for God to give me the strength to deal with all these issues.
Hello, All. So glad you were north of the Big Winds earlier last week. I was praying for you while watching RyanHallY’All. I think he is the best I’ve ever found for following storms and alerting people when its time to get in your safe place.
He is "Right on Spot" were I live in SC on every storm that we have had these past weeks !!!! Better than the Weather Channel,by far !!!👍😊
Hi Brooke and Jason,
I think MaryCarl is a pretty name for a lovely young lady! I also enjoy your podcast.
it was 19 this morning March 13. on the Southeast Coast of N.C.
We enjoy you guys too 😊
Love Mary Carl name, my grand niece was born 6 months after her grandfather father John passed her name is Lily John ! I love different names
Yes you did answered three of mine questions thank you ,I don't think I asked them but was wondering ,about the pigs, Brooke's mom,and the ducks....
I can't wait to see your greenhouse choice. I was wondering Jason, if it might help to feed the goats first, and then Moody? Anyway we just love seeing all that you're doing at Cog Hill. It's truly inspirational.
That was a super fun podcast, love hearing about what’s happening on the farm. You guys make me chuckle every time I watch you. Love you all, until next time😀👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love y’all channel!!!!
@36:35 Donkeys are amazing creatures and there is a huge need for Donkeys who need loving homes!
Do you know if any of your goats are pregnant ?? Thank goodness y’all all chip in to clean, feed, etc. It takes time but with you 2( or 3) maybe not not quite as long . I enjoy watching and listening to y’all talk . I’m fixing to keep on watching too .❤️
Love the pic! Thx for sharing. So cute
Blessings, julie
yes yesterday i sat and listened to the bees in the weeping willow they are so great
The is an Alaskan show where Jewel's family is the star of it. They built one, it was great and it seemed like a simple build.
Hi I just want to say I never miss a video
This was such a fun podcast. I loved every minute. Couldn't put my phone down. Thank you.
I agree wind storms are scary at times.. I live in Edmonton Alberta near Big Lake/ Lois Hole nature reserve.. one day it went from “a little wind” one minute to “ stronger wind with rain “ to “monsoon wind and down-pouring rain and full sky lightning ” it was so bad we had water trucks trying to pumping up the flooding ditches .🇨🇦
Love you guys! Again another way to end a great Sunday spending time with my Smith family. Glad to see you weathered the storms. I know Peaches and Nugget had everything under control during the drastic weather (actually Peaches probably dropped butt in the back of Quonset Hut and Nugget took a dive under the school bus). But all is good. Keep Calm and Cog Hill Farm on!!!!
Loved todays podcast, new viewer here and this the best one I have seen so far. Thanks for answering viewer questions!
Also: I grew up in Seattle. They spray everywhere to eliminate mosquitoes. People demand it. So got to go to the mountains of the state to find those little buggers.
A poly tunnel will be far more cost effective, in the long run than a green house. They are also known as hoop houses. There are videos on RUclips on how to build them too
Another great day at the Cog Hill 40. Love ya❤🐮🐦🐔🐷🌄🤗
