Me too, he came outside before a show in a small club in Philly and handed out a couple of cassettes 😂, they were a 3 song sample of Staight Up the tribute to Lynne Straight . I didn’t know him as the new guitarist for Soulfly, just some random guy handing out cassettes 🤣😂 Imagine my surprise when I saw him on stage 🤯🤘
And shity things I said and did 0 I feel so privileged to have had a front-row seat as I watched a man hell-bent on realizing his dream as you did you are such an inspiration to me Mikey I love you
Music 0 it's supposed to be a bridge and bring people together not divide them and I tell everybody who'll listen you guys were the greatest bunch of musicians I ever played with I told him hell not one of you had professional training that I know of but you just felt it you guys had the magic Man you also taught me a lot as did Sonny and tumor and Lynn turn me on to a whole new way of approaching the drum set I finally figured out what you meant by the term shriekback I have a lot of beautiful things I'd like to say to you that's if you will speak to me if you don't want to speak to me I totally understand respect I just have so much stuff I would love to tell you and some projects I'm working on I'm not really a social media guy I don't even do Facebook but I was hoping if you had some time and willing to receive my communication maybe we could get a phone call in have you ever thought about using your talents in a motivational speaking realm and helping your community the world and humanity you're living proof that dreams do come true I've dedicated the rest of my time on this planet to giving back and helping people the only way I can think of to show God how grateful I am for all the blessings that he has bestowed upon me and the talents he is giving me in my life sorry for babbling on I pray you will receive my words to yourear, sincerely James Robert Carroll
Yea I agree with Mikey as much as I luv all Soulfly albums, “3” is my least favorite and would go on as last on a list of many Soulfly records. It had some killer songs like Downstroy and One with Cristian guests vocals, and Seek N Strike which is obviously a Metallica rip in my eyes cough cough seek n destroy ha but is just Max displaying his influences, but yea I lost it when Mikey was like we had kids from the ally rapping on it and shxt etc. Haha we hear you Mikey haha knowing exactly what you are talking about. I actually like that females vocals on Tree of Pain, but where she also shines was on album Primitive with song FlyHigh, and thought ok well Max is a reggae fan and big Bad Brains fan like so many of us that I always liked when he brings on guitar the reggae skanks (chucks) and different world elements and having that female vocalist was outside the box back during that time, considering what was going around in the Nu Metal world etc. Max has been through many phases of hard rock and metal and always is able to stay current with the times. Their latest single ‘Filth Upon Filth’ are you kiddn me?!! That track is so killer. That is Soulfly. Prophecy is my favorite album probably which hard to say with so many killer albums such as Dark Ages, Conquer, Enslaved, Omen etc etc. Max will always be Lord of Riffs to me. Though I still think he needs to find a way to bring Rizzo back. Rizzo to Max is like Randy Rhodes to Ozzy. Anyway the new Demon Hunter single Max is on called Defense Mechanism is killer also 🤘🎸🤘. Great Interview!
@@deafworldstudios8644 yea I listened to 3” all the way through again last night been awhile and I do like it but was just saying it is probably my least favorite IF I had to have a least favorite. Primitive still has its heavy but more groove nu metal and yes I agree 3” way heavier though Primitive has some gems such as the ones I primarily listen to from it are Bring It The Prophet and BTTP. Pain will get thrown in there at times or even the one with Corey or with Slayer but yea maybe I should have made it known how much more I appreciate 3” then originally led on. Forgetting almost tracks again such as Call to Arms etc. Album Prophecy and on is primarily the Soulfly albums I gravitate to more. Max was in my headphones during my time in the military and released killer albums starting with my time in while they released 3”, Prophecy, Dark Ages, and Conquer. Perfects soundtracks to those times in life and still jammn those albums. Been listening to Totem a lot riffn along to tracks like Filth Upon Filth. Killer shxt. 🤘🎸
I met him in 2000 when he was with soulfly…super nice guy!
Lucky you! That Ozzfest line up was the best!

Thanks a lot for watching dude! Cheers!
Are you kidding me? "3" is way heavier and more Thrashier than "Primitive" if anything, Primitive is my least favorite.
