been talking with Yonk on some of the minor gaps of info here: - start up set up is very very very important. before you start you really do have to make sure the proper 'frames' collection is selected in the modifier like the vid says. otherwise the finalize step motion instance object might shift around or dissapear - the preview modifier is basically the 'way' you get the frames in the add-on window to show up on the timeline. without the modifier in your project, you cant apply the instances correctly - so on that note-- if you want to use this add on in a new or existing file, you currently have to APPEND the start up file to that new file, or a current project. currently the add on does NOT add a modifier. only the start up file has it. so i reccomend NOT messing with the og files and/or making a copy of the og project file i hope this helps anyone having issues!! and thanks dude for being so responsive
yep yep! it works very well. i really miss this tool in each 3d software i used. maybe an interpolation option could be useful too, as in the grease pencil.
I love the look of this!!! I’m currently learning blender and unreal, is there a way to transfer all of your animations to unreal once you finish in blender?
Hi thanks for this awesome add-on, I ran into trouble now trying to add a new object which is more than just a geometry. how did you add the clay figure (which have three geometries) as one frame? I try to create it within the file and make it a collection, but when I select the collection and click add object, it seems only to add one geometry (the body or the face) as a frame. Another question is that is it possible to change materials for each frame? I tried to click the "+" in an individual frame and it's not responding, could it be because I am running blender 4.0.1?
Awesome tool! Can I add for example a frame in between frame2 and frame3, an automaticly rename the new frame to frame3 and the previous frame3 into frame4?
Yes for sure! With v1.1 you can place in between frames. If you have any frame selected that’s not the latest frame and press new/duplicate frame you’ll get prompted to select its frame position. All other frames will automatically be renamed accordingly (:
The frames collection should be there when Create Step Motion is pressed, the animation is played through the Step Motion Preview object, this will be there if you open the Blender file we supplied or append it from there
At the end of the tutorial your questions gets answered (: but in short: yes. Rigging I’m not sure, armatures are not really recommended with this setup
Hi! I'm currently playing around with step motion. Is it possible to create an inbetween between two keyframes? Right now it looks like it's only possible to work in straight ahead rather than Pose to Pose.
Hey! Currently you could for example create a duplicate frame and rename it Frame6A so it places in between 6 and 7. We want to fix this in an update so it’ll do this automatically
I don’t know what rendering via command line changes in comparison to regulars rendering so I’m not sure. If you can render instances with command line it should work just normal
How important is the blender version? I see 3.6 and 4.0 in the DL, I'm on 3.4 and for some reason I can't get the timeline preview object to work no matter what I do. I'm going to try 3.6 (4.0 is just way too buggy for me) I love this so far! Super intuitive, and this is a great explanation. Love your work BTW big fan! Edit: I've switched to 3.6 and honestly I still can't get playback to work. I keep trying to commit my frames to the timeline in some way but nothing works. The modifier window wont allow me to playback anything, the 'set position' method here wont do it either. So I have a bunch of frames but no playback. I also tried to use the clay material in the modifier window but it didn't do anything. When I try to do it in materials the materials texture just says 'current frame' and I can't do anything with that as well. IDK what I'm doing wrong. :(
The 3.6 Blender file should work with all blender version lower than 4.0 until 3.4 (some nodes are changed after that). Please PM us so we can see what’s going wrong (:

This is going to change 3D forever.
I'm working on a project using this add on. This video is embedded in my eyes forever🙃
WOOOOOO! SO excited to use this! Love yall Yonk!
Wow this looks very neat. Thanks for releasing it!
Love the cool music you have playing

This looks like an awesome plugin, I'll have to grab it! Also I love how this tutorial look with the grid :))
I bought this addon. Despite my noob level - i've manage it.
This looks absolutely amazing 😍
I love the look of this!!! I’m currently learning blender and unreal, is there a way to transfer all of your animations to unreal once you finish in blender?
Yes you can, unreal supports .abc and you can export your animations as that!
@@yonk.onlineawesome! Are you able to also export the texture over?
@@Nick-cg5hi materials would transfer I believe, I think for textures would have to individually export image textures for every frame
Game changer
Great addon❤
how can i make my animation be set on twos and ones ( combined ) with this tool?

It’s explained in the tutorial at 4:00 !
i was wondering if there is a way for bringing a file so i can put the clay motion shader?

@@yonk.onlineGreat, Im really loving the new approach in animation that the addon has
Can this plugin work with camera animation?
hi,I would like to ask if the frames collection in step motion preview is not displayed. Where can I open it
The frames collection should be there when Create Step Motion is pressed, the animation is played through the Step Motion Preview object, this will be there if you open the Blender file we supplied or append it from there
Does bringing in a new object add the clay texture to it and retain the color of the original material? Is it possible to rig a character this way?

When just updated Step Motion, you can now create frames in between two frames with version 1.1!
