- Learn how to care for Asparagus setaceus AKA Common Asparagus Fern, Lace Fern, Plumosa Fern, or even Climbing Fern.
She's an easy care houseplant that needs bright indirect light, consistent moisture without over watering, temperatures between 60-75 degrees F, and average humidity.
I am so glad I found your video...I have mine for about 3 years now, she's been indoors. And now I put her outside in full sun...I noticed she is turning brown...Oh my! I need to move her in the porch then...Great informational video, thanks!
Thank you for sharing! This cleared up so much for me! I had no idea that she was getting too much sun! I thought I was overwatering & not giving her adequate humidity but it was just the sunlight! I moved her a little further from the window so hopefully I will see her thriving now!
I like your knowledge on plants. I just bought four of these to put in hanging planters on my patio.
Thank you so much! I have a new asparagus fern that is growing very happily and I want to keep her that way!
Thks so much ! I will have soon one ! I love how it looks and easy to maintain... this for your tips etc. :) have a good week
This video helped me the most all by the subtitles points, thank you from Israel :)
Oh my gosh thank you for this video! I've been very confused about why my Asparagus Fern's turning brown!! I thought it was because she needed more humidity so I've been misting her/ putting her in a pebble tray but it wasn't working. Right after I took her home I researched a bit and a website said that she'd be happier and grow more shoots the more light I give her. So I put her in direct sunlight. Yikes.
It feels less intuitive for me to care for her bec she shoots out new growth like crazy. I'm glad I researched about it before causing more damage to her
I love your energy girl - your smile 😍
Great video , one of the many uses is by scale modelers, it makes great looking pine branches !
Thank you. I have one and love it! Great info. :)
For some reason these guys and begonias I just can’t keep alive. Mine finally started doing well with 6+ hours of direct sun (he wasn’t stoked about moderate indirect light) but then I had to move and he’s in a sunny spot of the house without direct sun and he seems a bit ruffled about it. Game on Asparagus Fern! Game on :)
Hi, I'm in London, and I keep this fern outdoors and it has surprisingly adapted to the cold weather, its actually thriving.
Whoah Mine was in the kitchen and all brown at the moment but not dead yet. I might move it to the garden. Thanks.
They still alive?
Alive and kicking!
I love the plant
Very helpful video, thanks for sharing ❤
thanks for the tips
lovely presentation kind of .. thanks a lot
thanks i was wondering why my plumosa was starting to yellow at the tips, not enough sun light. i thought it was too much sunlight because she is next to my sliding door. however we have a huge gazibo in the yard that blocks the view of the sky which probably reduces the amount my plants get. i got an indoor light and humidifier on amazon so i hope she will return to her evenly green leaves soon, thanks :)
Hey I have a question. What if I use direct LED aquarium lights? Will it harm the plant?
hi one question do you have an idea for asparagus Coda di volpe if so how to care this plan some leaf become brown sometime.
Can we repot the Asparagus setaceus plant ?
I don’t like mine being leggy. How can I get it more bushy?
I bought my first setaceous fern 2 years ago not knowing its true growing habit. I like it’s soft feathery texture , and put it in an arrangement by front door . This plant grew So Huge and in full sun till 1 or 2 pm! I was amazed at its tenacity. I later moved it and gave it a trellis which it engulfed (: I would be afraid to put this in the garden. It’s a great plant , but be careful with it !
Thanks for the info! What zone do you live in?

My asparagus fern didn't like where I put her and ended up turning yellow on many of the frond tips. Should I cut back the fronds affected or will the green return? I put her in a different room with better light and she seems happier (no spreading of the yellow) but the original yellowing hasn't disappeared (3 weeks later)
I cut mine off and she's a lot happier now
FYI,this is a wonderplant-stops nosebleeding Pronto.good for cuts, wounds and ulcers.clears out boils like no other.
TQ....
Mine plant’s leaves are brown/yellow leaves and falls off with movement or touch I’ve tried moving it around my house less watering and more watering and still nothing 😢 how do I know if it’s time to just let it go
How tall do they grow I wished was stated. Thank you though.
I don't mean to diss your asparagus, but he looks a bit... how do I say... meager and yellowish? My asparagus plants are super fluffy, bushy and lush, and the colour is a deep, intense green; I'd probably be very worried if one of them looked like that.
Mine is lushn GREEN, too. M in tropics.
Yeah, hers is looking a bit leggy and light deprived to me.
I find that asparagus setaceus is usually a bit more light loving than most people think, so that could be it.
I put mine in our bathroom which has a bright window, so it gets humidity from showers and light :)
Does it have to be a 'her'? Can it be a 'him'?
Are they all ‘shes’. ?
All my ferns and fern-like plants are female lol
