15:26 I’m not sure if this is the timestamp to where you referred to “pin and cove joints”, so I did a search on the term. At this timestamp, the bottom drawer shows pin and cove more precisely than the other open drawer. I found an example of pin and cove on the website “harp gallery”. The example they show of pin and cove was from a furniture piece dated from the 1880’s. Apparently, the 1890’s brought on the machined pieces of carpentry made possible during the Industrial age.

To see homes like this through the eyes of a home renovator, I can see the vision of what could be, to imagine the finished product after all the design considerations have been made to preserve the history while giving contemporary comforts. It seems insane that in the richest country on Earth with over 300 million people, not one of us jumps at the chance to restore an old beauty like this. The woodwork alone would cost a small fortune to produce today, and modern wood is inferior to old growth that has twice the density and took three times as long to grow. The mills that produced the trim and spindles had either water or steam powered saws and lathes, remnants of a time that we'll never know except through writings and physical examples like the one you've archived here. It's almost like echoes of that era speak though each detail. Every original piece of that house is part of American history, a legacy that so few people today truly appreciate.

Stunning is the word that comes to mind when describing this house. The details are so rich and refined. A baby grand piano fits in quite nicely and looks right at home in one of the front rooms !! there is so much attention to detail everywhere you look. The built-ins, gorgeous marble fireplaces, woodwork, and staircase are standouts. I even saw a keyhole cover on one of the doors. I know it is a huge stretch and would take bundles of money...what a treasure it would be for it to be restored. The kitchen in the basement was a big surprise as well as the dining room, a first for me to see. Thank you for showcasing this old beauty, which still has a lot of antique furnishings. This one speaks to my heart ❤️! I love the layout of the rooms, the windows (especially the beautiful wood around each and every window!), and the staircase is absolutely stunning! Oh if I had the money, I truly think that this one is worth restoring! It looks very structurally sound, and yes, there's some walls that are in pretty bad shape, but the whole house seems to have solid bones. I loved the very top floor (inside the mansard roof), this house just seems romantic to me. Thanks for sharing these tours Kappy, and I love how you do close ups of the wallpaper in each room that has some still clinging to the walls. You are actually archiving important information for designers and historians by being able to see original wallpaper patterns that were used in different periods! Even if some of these houses gets torn down, or falls in on itself because of time and decay, your videos have the information forever on them for reference! That's wonderful 😊👍

Tears are being shed in Heaven by the original family of this gorgeous home. Breaks my heart what these losers do to the historic properties.

I'll admit this one brought tears. The amount of intentional destruction just made me sick. You went a little fast on this one. So many things you went by without looking at. Like the childs trunk and the little toy cradle on the floor. The antiques just wasting away was so very sad. And the details of the house itself were amazing. I hope and pray this ole gal is miraculously saved! 😢😢

I love that you seem knowledgeable and appreciative about what you're seeing. So many other explorers of abandoned places i've seen often don't seem to know what they're looking at, just think it either "cool" or "spooky". lol
Thanks for letting us tag along.
