Looks to me the last section of the video indicated a failure to extract the spent case prior to chambering the new shell. I think Henry is aware of the extraction issue and has made improvements. I have a Chinese copy of the 1887 Winchester lever action, I got into those because I got hurt on my job and screwed up the left arm and can't use a pump shotgun like I used to. I can tell you right now that .410 00 or 000 buckshot might not have the number of pellets but I'm sure the three or four of those that hit at 7 yards will be effective.
Great review a good honest opinion and straight to the point. Thanks. I was thinking of this as a home defense weapon for my wife but just can’t justify the price.
The last time i was in North Carolina I visited a gun shop and the owner showed me his 410 hand gun, It was just an over sized hand gun, Sadly i didn't get to see him use the gun so I don't know how good they are, but i would imagine it would be a great way to stop a home invasion especially in close quarters.

I think 410 is an under appreciated home defense weapon. If you live in a house with kids or an apartment the chance of wall penetration with a 410 is substantially lower than say 12 gauge or any self defense pistol cartridges.
.223 is still a substantially better option than slugs or buck at the velocity thrown by .410 shotguns. Both in terminal ballistics and over penetration risks
???? They Say? Who said? Going through an interior wall is no problem! Any way your supposed to shoot the intruder not the WALL!!!!!! Smaller buck shot or a slug! There is a lot of difference in penetration power!!
I wouldnt want to be standing where that camera is, and I hope there's nobody down the line beyond the camera. Especially when it jammed...he clears the jam, puts the live shell in the chamber, closes the action, and then starts moving the bore around the room with his fingers in front of it trying to load 5 more... there's some odd video cutting around that too.
Nice piece. I have chronic arthritis in my spine and been looking for a good all around shooter in .410. Even .20 gauge wrecks me. I wonder if Henry offers lever and trigger mods. Smooth out that 'clunky' spot in the action and set the trigger at about 3 pounds. Perfect. Thank you for the feature.
@Kamril Sounds like a great piece. At that price point who could argue! Certainly much more affordable than the Henry and semi-auto holding 10 .410 shells would be a lot of fun to shoot. I still have concerns regarding the .410 cartridge itself though. I have yet to try firing one since the accident that crippled my spine. What's the recoil like on your Saiga? I'm a die hard AR fan. I've been this way since first firing the M16 A1 in Marine Corps boot camp in 1984. Now with arthritis in my lower spine, It's the only rifle that doesn't hurt when I shoot it. I've tried other rifles that claim to have recoil buffering. But, only the AR's buffer works well enough to shoot it pain free. My Ruger 10-22 kicks harder than my AR. :)
Nice lil shotgun...I always loved a .410, just hate the fact the ammo is outrageously priced. More folks would shoot em if the shells were a bit cheaper.
@Travis Thacker idk about all that...they were high even before the dual cartridge guns even came about. Even way back in the 70s they were far higher than 12 and 20ga...I still think that it would be a more popular load if the price were offset a bit, at least within a dollar or two difference, the .410 has always been my favorite small game cartridge. I have even used it for ducks and doves a few times, I think the novelty part is the home defense rounds for those snake charmer pistols and such, which you are right that does hurt the overall cost of the shells in the long run, but you do make some valid points.
My mother had a Remington bolt action 410 shotgun. Same type of tube magazine. She lived in Minnesota before moving to Dakota. It may have been used for hunting deer also.
@@ragimundvonwallat8961 Why I like .410 shotguns 1 gets the job done 2 powerful, without thumping recoil. 3 I like lever - action guns 4 I like shotguns This is the perfect gun for me. Not to mention the amount of fun my son has shooting jackrabbits around the ranch.
I have good collection of various kind of firearms, but then bought a lever action Henry 22 for one of my kids as a first firearm to train on. I've been jealous of it ever since. Henry lever actions are just fun to shoot. (And a lever action is just pure Americana.) This .410 lever action looks like it could be that experience all over again but with something a bit different than 22 ammo (though more spendy on cost per round)
So this gun is heavily based on the marlin designs, not just in general, but specifically the Marlin 410 from the early 2000s (the shareholder 1920s guns are rather different). In fact, I want to say the bolts are interchangeable if that gives you a good idea on the receiver shapes and whatnot. The main difference is refinement, and the marlin uses a traditional loading gate. I have a marlin, buddy recently got a henry. His is a better build quality gun, but I bought mine a little used and abused too. He's 100% right on it being so heavy the little 410 generates no recoil. Even the heavier slugs feel like 22s. It does still balance and point nicely, but the Henry system for loading which makes sense with a lot of 22s isn't ideal for a 410 as you have to manipulate it in weird ways if you don't want to flag yourself or others, and 5 rounds in the tube don't last all to long while at the range. Biggest issue I've seen is people assuming it's a rifle. Walk up to a clay stand with one and the RSO is going to be rather concerned. I want to say Henry has a newer model 410 with a loading gate now, which would be the ideal take of this platform.

Many years ago, the first squirrel I have shot was with a .410...that said, this would be a really nice 'first shotgun' for a kid...BUT for the problems of it being 2-1/2" chambered (3" have MUCH better patterning...far more noticeable than in a 12-gauge), and that cylinder choke just makes 2-1/2" chambering worse. The $895 price tag also really tortures this as a 'first gun' for most kids, as a result...no one usually drops almost a grand on a first firearm for a kid (I think my old H&R set my parents back around $41...new...in the day). Pretty...and it's a Henry...but priced out of its own market, and not featured enough to compete...sorry.

Reload 'em for 10c.
Nice review Paul. Nice gun too. One of these days ill get me a Henry.
Muzzle everywhere nice🤔
Bought one about a year ago... love it. Awesome little gun.
O'Henry...my guy✊Like that last round👍im down with the lever action
My mother had a Remington bolt action 410 shotgun. Same type of tube magazine. She lived in Minnesota before moving to Dakota. It may have been used for hunting deer also.
Really... interesting
Oh, I am in love with that gun!
Nice little .410 but the fella demonstrating had too much coffee before making the upload.
I saw one of these in a local gun shop yesterday,I should had got it.
Go back and get it
Absolutely would like to buy one 410 hendry lever action . Also with the 22 lever action.
nice little gun like to have one, have a 410 pump that my son has now
id love to have a 410 pump...i dont know why but i always loved 410, i think its just because the little shells are so cute haha

Why I like .410 shotguns
1 gets the job done
2 powerful, without thumping recoil.
3 I like lever - action guns
4 I like shotguns
This is the perfect gun for me. Not to mention the amount of fun my son has shooting jackrabbits around the ranch.
Henry…fine weapons!
I would buy one if it had a loading gate, I hate the muzzle-loader style of reloading. I'll just keep my 30-30 Winchester
I have 1at hom
Yes, if they made a marlin style loading gate, where you can top it off while shooting (unlike the win 94).
this looks like a sweet shotgun
Great vid
I have a serious want for a lever action rifle, these look like fun also
I have good collection of various kind of firearms, but then bought a lever action Henry 22 for one of my kids as a first firearm to train on. I've been jealous of it ever since. Henry lever actions are just fun to shoot. (And a lever action is just pure Americana.) This .410 lever action looks like it could be that experience all over again but with something a bit different than 22 ammo (though more spendy on cost per round)
You right, man! Thanks
Not a fan of the tub magazine, other than that Henry makes a great gun
I want to say Henry has a newer model 410 with a loading gate now, which would be the ideal take of this platform.
liked you presentation. (explained what you going to talk about, good overview about the subject, your pace, your video editing, and debrief) well done.
The channel name. Legally armed is what the Constitution provides. It is not the views of some narcissistic politician(s). If you are an American citizen then if you're armed legal.
I know this will start a debate but It just what our Constitution provides.
Correct. You get it. The CONSTITUTION makes me a Legally Armed American, not the government.
Did the clunk ever smooth out? I was thinking the tube caused it, i was really glad when henry came out with the side gate lever gun
The longer barrel version, which I have, uses a choke. Slugs are not recommended. Guess I will have to buy one of the shorter models also!
Wish Henry would make a 35 Remington.
You and one other person.....nobody cares about this obscure round.
Sweet. Thanks buddy.
It would be nice if it came with a rifled barrel for slugs.
Johnny Roberts. its called a 45/70.
it was a good video tums upp beatiful gun i like the wood and the looks of it
Many years ago, the first squirrel I have shot was with a .410...that said, this would be a really nice 'first shotgun' for a kid...BUT for the problems of it being 2-1/2" chambered (3" have MUCH better patterning...far more noticeable than in a 12-gauge), and that cylinder choke just makes 2-1/2" chambering worse.
Checker, checked, checking checkering oh boy the checkering on this gun ,king me !
I don’t worry about me I’m on a tablet..... but you’re at a Range there’s other people around.......... it’s always loaded .... Muzzle always down range
Would that be good for home defense and apocalypse as well
There is a lot of better options for what this costs
When old school meets modern style you get a Sweet gun .. 👏 🔫
I don't think you meant to say you had 1 1/2 oz slugs.
Awesome piece
I wish we could shoot steel on the other side of that fence. Is there any other range I can join where we can shoot steel targets ?
LateNite not sure, man. Maybe members should petition Mr Lee to allow steel to be shot
