      How’ that ? Carrying a single shot empty cost him a lot of missed opportunity to get game. A loaded single shot such as his is perfectly safe. Know your firearm being used.

    • @randaman7098
      @randaman7098 Год назад

      A loaded firearm is never safe. I know of an instance where the hammer got tangled in thick brush and discharged. Is a grouse worth the risk ?

    Man I had a Marlin lever action .410 bought new. Had to sell it and the dealer who bought it from me lowballed. Those guns are $1500 if you can find one. Henry makes a sweet version. We used to hire a guide with beagles up in the Adirondacks fir snowshoes

      Not responding to the video as much as the comment about not loading a gun.
      I’ve hunted over 45 years and I never load my gun til I’m set up and ready to shoot if I was stand hunting something.
      Rabbits I’d be using beagles and anyone hunts with me knows they need to circle the rabbit at least once before we
      load.
      Bird dog goes on point before gun gets shut. I use stack barreled guns. Even turkey when I get up to move the gun gets opened, unloaded. They must be responding to a call and ducks are never pass shot. Wings set, feet down. 15 yard shots the rule. Be advised I killed 147 puddle ducks (I was doing surveys for the state, only reason I know number) in one season.
      It’s not so much about targets of opportunity. One, two more means nothing. Sports hunting is supposed to be sporting and accomplishment is key. Just a random lucky circumstance adds nothing to our ability as a hunter. In fact doing it the more sporting way, makes it harder, the hunter better. Hope that made sense and If a guy walked near me loaded I’d excuse myself to another woods. Safety first, sporting second

      I’m not a big fan of carrying any gun through the woods with a live round in the chamber. Because this is a single shot .410, there is no magazine so if I were to carry a round in the chamber, I would have to rely on the mechanical safety to make sure the gun doesn’t accidentally go off, and that is not a safe practice in my opinion.
