He was an Irishman who had a brilliant TV Show in Britain? Thus it was a loss to British TV when he Died, not Irish TV as per Airzulu’s Comment !!! !! He had his own TV Show in Australia….we saw him ‘Live’ twice….1st time, hilarious - he moved to Britain. He returned to Australia for a 2nd ‘Live’ Show….very disappointing…the witty, clever, subtle humour had gone & replaced with constant swearing….it was boring. Australians loved him, he arrived in Australia as an unknown as he was in Britain. When the Brits saw how successful he was, he was offered a TV SHOW on British TV…so he departed Australia. He abandoned the sunny warm days & hot weather to return to a cold, damp, mouldy, windy UK & seem to age rapidly, & died way too young. My Brother lived in London for awhile…he hated it…the depressing Weather…standing in Line constantly for everything, people everywhere - he found the place very depressing…I know of Brits who have moved to Australia….they love the Weather, the Lifestyle…& No Class System….!!!
When he was at his peak (he is hilarious even in this clip) I never missed a tv show he was in. He was SO funny - he took the mickey out of the Catholic Church, the Pope, The Irish, The British - oh everyone and I always loved his last words on his show "Goodnight - and may your God go with you". You will always live on in our house Dave. :)))
I remember watching this sketch on TV in 1988. Just as hilarious now as it was then, and just as true! How many people will still find today's comedians funny in 30 years time?
So accurate, anyone who can take an ordinary everyday occurence and make it funny, is brilliant. This episode proves he does not need the swear words, he is my favorite.
you know that is so true my son is 18 and strings all his words together so it sounds like one long word and its mumbled, only a mother could understand her son, and dave allen was brilliant ain't nobody today can compare to him
You said it. Comedians such as Dave Allen weren't, well aren't just funny, they had class. As well as that they each had their own style. As you rightly said, they just don't have it any more.
I know what you mean but swearing can be funny as long as it is not the meant to be the sole purpose of the joke but more as a means to for instance show frustration or anger.
This is so true!! Teen men can't speak properly, they start to sound like Ugg the Caveman hahahaha!!!! LAUGHED ALL THE WAY THROUGH THIS SKETCH, NEARLY WET MYSELF!!! HILLARIOUS STUFF!!!
I hear this sort of jabber from the younger generation everywhere I go, in markets, from restaurant waiters, from virtually anyone under 25 who deals with the public in retail. When I hear it I often respond with some nonsense syllable. The tragedy of it is they seem to understand and nod.
It's called deafness and senility. Enjoy it. You don't really want to hear what other people say anyway. Gives you bad dreams and horrific gas, it does.
@ferraridinoman totally agree with you, but when we get to Heaven we want to be entertained by the best and who better than Dave Allen. Good night, God Bless, May your God go with you.......
I feel privileged to have grown up with this great comedian on the TV.
Me too! TV is crap now, well I stopped watching it 20 years ago!
Me too! Our whole family watched him. My mother was expecting him to be excommunicated.
No one has been funnier than this comic. So glad I can watch his work again. Truly timeless humor.
Dave was absolutely top of his skills. A great loss to British comedy left us too soon . RIP Dave
He was Irish not British

This is absolutely superb. It cracks me up every time I see this. Nobody can do stand up comedy like Dave Allen. Brilliant.

It's men like him we need so desperately. I loved him.
Most hilarious thing was I was in a Starbucks today, and a guy was talking to a girl this EXACT same way! I almost lost it.
Utterly brilliant!!! The mouthful of coffee I was drinking went everywhere I laughed so hard!!! Absolute genius!
I remember this sketch when it first aired and have always remembered it and this is the first time I've seen it in all these years. Still great.
He is absolutely spot on and incredibly hilarious. I love him.
Dead or alive. This man is timeless.
Absolutely

@slaine's axe He has always sweared A LOT in his live shows though, and would've sworn more on tv if he could've.
As a father with teenage sons, I can relate to this sketch, hilarious but oh so true!!!!
thanks dave. you really were great.
Laughing me socks off, aye Dave, the divnt make them like you anymore. Bless. X.
Tears down my face all through this!
I loved him then and I love him now. No one comes close.
Edward, Dave Allen's real life son got a rare piss take for this. He said it was nothing like him. His friends said it was!
He was 68 when he died. He should have given us another 15 years at least!
EEL 123 it was his lifestyle if he didn’t have the lifestyle he had we would never have experienced him similar to tommy cooper x

Sudden arrhythmic death syndrome
Well, it appears that skies decided to take him. He is having his shows there, even though he is a practicing atheist :)
If he hadn’t drank and smoked so much he might have might have lived to 73 but I don’t think he would have been as funny.
one of the greatest Comedians of all time... Simples! RIP Dave Allen
I am Irish/Scottish and I think Dave Allen and Billy Connely are the funniest people, clever and gut bustinlgly funny
Allen the best, Connelly very funny too, yes.
What? No Craig Ferguson? Allen Connelly Ferguson are the holy triumvirate of celtic comedy.
He was truly up there with the great comedians of our time !!
My sides are truly hurting after watching this.
True genius.
Damn, I've watched it 7th times already and I am laughing & crying.
I never knew dave allen.. But now he is one of my favorite stand up comedian
Always a class act, one of the greats. .
you know that is so true my son is 18 and strings all his words together so it sounds like one long word and its mumbled, only a mother could understand her son, and dave allen was brilliant ain't nobody today can compare to him

This is the funniest clip I've ever seen, thank you for uploading it!
As a 50 year old fellow Dub' ...David Tynon O'Mahony OR Dave Allen to everyone else was LEGEND
Of all the sketches He did in these specials this was the highlight. Teaching the time and the trip to Mexico with his brother
Excellent! Thank you so much!
You said it. Comedians such as Dave Allen weren't, well aren't just funny, they had class. As well as that they each had their own style. As you rightly said, they just don't have it any more.
Love Dave Allen he was amazing 😉❤️
So funny and a classy man
The best comedian ever ..Dave Allen
Best duo act ...laurel and hardy
Agreed on both counts.
someone who made my father weep with laughter - me too
No stand up comes near without having to shout or swear to be funny, true legend.
I know what you mean but swearing can be funny as long as it is not the meant to be the sole purpose of the joke but more as a means to for instance show frustration or anger.
Another difference is that he isn't wearing a dirty T-shirt.
He said dickhead 😆
Oh shitt...the tears are runnin' down me leg!!
Im dying here lol.
Life gets complicated when we get past 18.
I would have sworn that he asked for 'an onion' ...
I would have answered: 'Sure... with ketchup and mayonnaise?'
This is so true!! Teen men can't speak properly, they start to sound like Ugg the Caveman hahahaha!!!!
LAUGHED ALL THE WAY THROUGH THIS SKETCH, NEARLY WET MYSELF!!!
HILLARIOUS STUFF!!!
I just could not stop laughing

ollbo200010 Takes 1 to know 1 😂 🔫
When Dave Allen did this it was original comedy.... Now comedians just copy it and present it as theirs
Still accurate and relevant today! 😂
@ferraridinoman He may be dead in body, but his hilarious spirit will live for a long time, and we have all these wonderful recorded clips.
He's an absolute legend, dave allen funny as fuck 😂
2.16
The amazing thing about that is
Their teachers understand their mumbling
Hat's off to them.
Dave makes any bad day better .
Dave's so smooth he makes shit-roll look like sandpaper.
The Daily Grenade Jim reeves
i am 79 and he is the best in my life.
I have found him so funny but so educational lol 😂
This is fckng Hilarious!!!!
Kevin and Perry got it right at 13 this mumbling starts usually. Lol
Brilliant
miss you
Totally spot on, but since he did this the age has got younger
The best comedian that ever lived😂😂😂😂😂😂
Simply fabulous, puts the ''comedians'' of today to great shame.
I hear this sort of jabber from the younger generation everywhere I go, in markets, from restaurant waiters, from virtually anyone under 25 who deals with the public in retail. When I hear it I often respond with some nonsense syllable. The tragedy of it is they seem to understand and nod.

Sadly, this happens at the age of twelve these days...
rare man.
he was excellent. todays comics dont match him.
127 thumbs down ? The mind boggles.
And all 18 year olds. 😊
I went to Leeds last week and I would estimate that approx 80% of adolescent/early adult (Cro-Magnon?) men were like this..
Currently, too many BBC announcers and programme presenters speak in a similar 'fashion'!
Genius
The best
1 word classic lol
the wife and I have just wet ourselves and that's only partly our age
too bad it is puberty, I love you show!
this very really funny
true. but ill watch more of his stuff before my final verdict...
My son does this now at 15, I don't remember being like that however at 18.
"Is ed in?"
My nephew is now 19

- No, he's not!
So true.
I don't have kids yet, but my nephew has turned into a Neanderthal
A gem of a wise comedian. RIP.
That was funny 🤣👍
Forgive my ignorance, but when and of what did Dave die from? He was one of the greats in comedy.
Sounds like the beggers close by my house. You can never make out a word
@ferraridinoman totally agree with you, but when we get to Heaven we want to be entertained by the best and who better than Dave Allen. Good night, God Bless, May your God go with you.......
