I was just a kid when I first saw Dave Allen, and that sign-off line of his ['and may your God go with you'] was pretty amazing for the time. Thanks for reminding me of it.
I agree with your comments and the amazing thing about this great master that is Mr Dave Allen is that a lot of what he says is still true to this very day
My brother and I saw Dave Allen live - both left the theatre in pain from laughing. He did this segment about planes and since then any time we fly we both draw little black fins on the safety cards.
Without doubt, Dave wasTHE greatest stand up/sit down comedian of all time in my opinion. Dave made hilarious skits, too. The guy was nothing short of a stellar comedian and the best storyteller ever born. Wow, what a talent he was...and what a terrible loss.
This was actually right at the end of his career, when he made a comeback at the end of the 1980s. His most popular period was during the 1970s, which ironically was a time when very few comedians were funny or clever (although Dave Allen was).
He is still bloody funny despite having seen most of his shows. Really took the Mickey out of anything and everything. Pity there are not more of hil ilk around.
dont know how many times I have watched this, and others from him, but they never fail to make me laugh. He was one of a kind, not been anything like him since.
A true gentleman, a creative genius, a pleasure to listen to.. . So genuinely funny. Brought so much happiness and humanity to the world... the world loved him, I hope he realized how much his audiences loved him.
My first flight as a 9 yr old I can still remember asking grandma if anything was to happen at 35,000 ft why we had a lifejacket instead of a parachute.
*A parachute!? HA!* What, because with all the panicking that'd be going on, you think you could properly strap on a 'chute? (It's a harness, not a rucksack.) Especially if it was your first time? I'm guessing some people still wouldn't have the guts to jump anyway, even with their life on the line. Then there's the weather: you don't want to be parachuting when it's too windy. Even without bad weather, you could still find yourself in a region that's inappropriate to land... Hey, like, water! Hope you included the lifejacket as well. You didn't? Oh... Hope you have a knife to quickly cut the 'chute loose and take/cut off your clothes and that you're a good swimmer... Sounds like the kind of thing a nine-year-old and grandma could "easily" handle... :) So, really, you're much better off waiting for the plane to be flown/glided down, pop the lifejacket on, get yourself in the brace position, land (if gear still works) or hit the land/water, and get out when instructed (inflate lifejacket if appropriate of course). Legit question (especially if you're a youngster), but parachutes in planes is not going to happen! Unless you're going skydiving...
@@bluesfall3265 Parachutes are fundamentally not practical as emergency devices (in the context of passenger airliners, of course). Now quit worrying and enjoy your flight!
