    This is a very good video, because it highlights some sounds of the K2600 that most people would not think about a Kurzweil. Most of what we can see about the Kurzweil are piano sounds, organ, stage piano sounds...While they are the most powerful digital synths around the world...

      This video it's still showing the kurz as a sample playback machine , not the synth capable side

    incredible! big fan of some deeper and evolving works by T-Power and the MetalHeadz gang, this takes me into a seldom found realm of enjoying the drum play and synth work swirling among some layers of jazz.

      T-Power was a huge early influence. It has to be said. Although I always felt that I don't really know what I am doing when it comes to these types of rhythms and production style. I will keep exploring. Thanks for your kind words.

    What is the vocalesque sound occuring at 1:11 and throughout

    • @frequencymanipulator
      @frequencymanipulator  5 лет назад +3

      This is a friend singing, I took the recording and experimented with pitching it down, and used the ‘Holden Harmoniser’ (which is part of the TAU gallery in Kyma) to create the harmonies. I then loaded the output into the sampler for playback and tweaking/stereo/filtering.

      @@frequencymanipulator it sounds pretty unreal. would you recommend kyma? been holding off cause of $ but if it means making sounds like that...

    • @frequencymanipulator
      @frequencymanipulator  5 лет назад +2

      It is a significant purchase, there is no doubt about it. However, the creators are so welcoming and supportive: it is one investment I definitely do not regret. It can be a little overwhelming when you start, you can drill down in complexity and there are many tools to explore. We have started a weekly hangout where we explore different techniques. You would be welcome to join us. It is not necessary to have any programming experience but synthesis knowledge really helps. Having said that, using Kyma is an education in music and sound within itself, and will inevitably teach you lots of synthesis, and you eventually get drawn into a little programming. If you can scrape the cash together, go for it, they keep their re-sale value extremely well. Beyond the weekly hangout and the forum, there are a few people including myself who offer one to one support, I find a couple of sessions is all that is needed to get people going in the right direction. I hope this helps!

    • @frequencymanipulator
      @frequencymanipulator  3 года назад +1

      @@KrazyRobot Sorry, failed to reply to this somehow. Kyma is almost a way of life. Absolute precision, but incredibly involved once you start peeling back the layers. You can get some great sounds out of the Sound Library and community, but once you have learned enough to articulate your ideas, the gloves are off, and you can really push the boundaries. We formed a weekly online zoom to compare programming notes and create solutions to problems, I found it very helpful. It is a significant investment, but they still support legacy OS's and the support and community is like no other. (I have worked with a huge range of manufacturers as customer, beta tester, contributed to development programs etc). If you, or indeed anyone else wants to chat, do give me a nudge! Happy New Year.

    I want to start by saying that I am a (gurgling, babbling, vomiting breast milk baby to the world of music & synths in particular.) I've been primarily focusing on art, 3D animation and video & audio production and editing up to this point.
    So OF COURSE when you do video, animation & graphics.. it's only a matter of time before you come face to face with - MUSIC!!
    All that graphic stuff and animation especially - needs sounds effects, background music, atmospheric sounds etc...
    So now here I am - pricing keyboards, synths, beat machines... the works!! Like it or not - I gotta become a MUSIC MASTER lol, so I'm in it now! :) That being said - anyone who explores the music world and only deals with TOP SHELF products, will eventually stumble across the word (Cirklon). But I was like - WTF is that? -_-
    Then I came across a video declaring it to be (THE ULTIMATE, MOST LUSTED AFTER, YET HARDEST TO GET SYNTHESIZER - IN THE WORLD!!) So I HAD to SEE this monster for myself and went looking for videos on it. I was expecting something like a big Roland 88-key system, or maybe one of the big Analog Beasts with 100 wires hanging out of it... But then I saw this little rectangular black box. I'm like - WTF?!?! PEOPLE ARE SO FULLA SHYT!! This doesn't even have any keys on it! What can you do with a few buttons & knobs.. and they don't even glow and change colors!!! This is silly! -_-
    (shut up - I TOLD you I was a newbie!) lol
    I watched several videos where people were doing Cirklon demos - which proved me RIGHT. I was again like - (This is bullshit! It sounds like a Casio Beat machine, and they're just pressing buttons! WHERE'S THE MUSIC??? THIS SUCKS!!)
    Right before I was about to write this thing off as a worthless toy - I came across THIS VIDEO....
    THEN IT FINALLY CLICKED HOME... OOOHHHHHHHH...... SO THAT'S WHAT THIS IS FOR!! OMG - THAT'S INSANE!! :-0
    This song had to of taken this guy WEEKS OR MONTHS to get this level of production on this song... adding 1 sound at a time through a cycling pattern - then end up with something that sounds like a whole BAND?? Godamn - that's SERIOUS skill & dedication right there!! Obviously he's got a TON of other hardware patching through it... but Yeah, this video definitely shows how the BIG DOGS get down!!
    Now personally, I think this song could have been done MUCH easier & faster on a Roland keyboard using a DAW... maybe even without DAW, BUT - I DO recognize that this kind of process is it's own form of art. As an artist - I GET IT!! :)
    The point was not to just make the song... the point was to make the song - USING (THIS) PROCESS AND (THIS) SYSTEM!!
    It's like people who do art using airbrush vs oils. Yeah, you can just airbrush an image and get it to look REALLY COOL in half the time it took someone to do that same image in oils.... but you LOSE the essence & personal expression that is only achievable after laboring over an oil painting for weeks or months on end... trying to get a characters eye to glint in the light by adding only a pin-prick of white paint in the corner of it!! That level of detail & precision is not possible with a SPRAY... no matter how fine the airflow is.
    So I get this Cirklon!! It's a musical art form. So - much respect to it and to the people mastering it. Of course it's massive overkill for MY purposes... but I dig it 100%!! :-)
