That Vario strap on the BLP looks really cool and fitting to that style watch! Thanks for posting this review, Vario turns our a quality strap, and very well done!
My ‘watch’ budget has now become a ‘strap’ budget....Gonna have to stick with the ridiculous amount of watches that I already have for some time to come. That’s okay though I’m gonna dress them up with a robust strap collection! Thanks for this review I’ll be visiting their website and making a couple of purchases!
Hi Dave, great video as always... I am looking at buying my first watch (around $150 to $180) and wondering what are your recommendations. Been looking at some Seikos but cant make up my mind. Thanks in advance for your reply and more power to your channel.
Depends on your wants/needs. Movement, occasion, size, etc. My advice is keep watching videos, read forums, and search online until you've seen a ton of different watches. When you find one that you like, keep looking. When you find one that you love, bookmark it. Since it's your first watch, I think you'll have to buy a few and gain real-life experience with watches before you figure out what you actually want. Things like weight, size, how it looks on wrist vs on screen must be learned the hard way. When you're ready to buy, make sure it's because you love it!
Oh, first watch, that's exciting. To make that decision you need to consider what sort of watch you'd be wearing most of the time. If you're in a professional environment where you need to wear a suit daily, you probably want a dress watch, but otherwise I'd recommend something more durable like a dive watch or field watch, depending on your style. In your price range, Orient and Seiko are the two brands I'd be looking at first. To get an overview of some good options in your price range, go check out my Watch of the Month Club playlist, where I run through the best watches under $200 in different categories. For dress watches, I'd be looking at the Orient Bambino line, or the Seiko 5s, depending on your wrist size (the Seiko 5 dress watches tend to run small). For something more durable like a dive watch, I'd check out the Orient Ray 2 or Mako 2, which seems to have dropped in price due to the recent release of their newer divers, the Kamasu and Kano. I'd also check out the Seiko SNZH53/55. For field watches your best choice I think is either the Orient Defender or the Seiko SNZG series (I like the SNZG17 the best because it has lumed numerals instead of just the hour markers). Hope that helps!
Also, in addition to the above, if you prefer a quartz watch, I'd recommend looking at a Citizen Eco Drive. They have a diver, and a number of field watches, chronographs, dress watches and dress watches all in your price range.
The buckle does use a spring bar to attach on all three straps. I think a solid one piece buckle would be an upgrade on the NATO strap where ensuring the security of the watch is the highest priority, but for dressier straps like the Harris Tweed and Italian leather I actually prefer the spring bar buckle as that gives you the option to install a deployant clasp if desired.
Great video Dave! Every time I jump on your channel I see the sub growth keeps getting higher and higher!
Thanks for the feature and love that water resistant test!

Just ordered a Nato from Vario can’t wait to put it on my Seiko.
I've tried a couple of their straps and they've all been great. Nice video and great strap pairings for the watches.
Thanks! And welcome back!

So glad you did this review. I've been thinking about the tweed strap. 👍 👍
You l know I could see it working on that Hamilton Navy...
@@JusttheWatch Exactly what I was thinking! Great minds! 😁👌
Keep posting!
Love that Harris Tweed Strap nice Look!
I know this was about straps...
...but just added that Bulova Moonwatch to my wishlist.
:D
Lovely Bulova!
Watch straps... but the channel is named Just the Watch...
I'm confused but also like the review. :)
I like to keep people guessing. Next week I'll review a lawn mower.
They look too short for my 7-3/4 inch wrist... it’s a shame, unless they have a choice if length. I will check them out. Thx
I have a 7.5 " wrist if that helps. Probably would just barely fit you.
You are correct. Too bad. They have some nice straps. Thx
Nice Laco
Thanks man, it's a pretty recent acquisition. One of my first real "enthusiast" level choices, but still a pretty good value.
@@JusttheWatch Love that combo of black case and white dial. Looking forward to the review, if you are doing one.
Definitely will be doing a review if it, but it's still a few weeks out!
For $38 need to have solid one piece Buckle , those are Spring Bar ya ?
That comment does not make sense.
