- Greetings, "Equator" channel viewers! The story of humanity is shaped by remarkable individuals, some of whom influenced entire eras, guiding history like a compass. We're accustomed to seeing their static images in paintings and statues, but these were real people, with faces that expressed a range of emotions. Today, we offer you a unique opportunity to witness how some of these historical figures might have appeared in real life, bringing the past to life in a way you've never seen before!
AI is making them all 20 per cent better looking
AI learns from photos on the internet. Beautiful people are more likely to appear in mass media. AI thinks that’s what average looks like.
@Gamba_with_Cigarette or could it be that more symmetrical and defined features we find attractive are simply easier for the a.i to compute. I'd imagine a stranger looking person with more unique asymmetries and strange head shapes would be harder to arrange than the standard views of beauty given there's more imperfections to articulate
Yes, I noticed that. Considering that most of these portraits would have flattered the sitter, it should err in the other direction.
@@Gamba_with_Cigarette I'll put a picture of myself up there. That should bring the average down!
On top of the original artist that probably had to make them 80% more beautiful.
Thanks, this makes it a lot easier to identify the people on my time travels
What! You too?
Damn!
Are you the one met on the slipstream in 1234 AD? Good times!
If you meet my 11th great grandfather a you tell him tomorrow stop impregnating Italian servant girls, it’s making my 9th grand nephews task impossible to re-assimilate my DNA.
Before you go, be sure to watch the video on tips for medieval time travel. Just type it in, it'll pop right up.
🤣🤣🤣
Even when the resemblance is extraordinary, the difference between a painted likeness and a 3D representation is like day and night.
Thank you for making some fascinating historical people seem real again, I'm sure they would love it.
This is so amazing to see these historical figures come to life.
Not so amazing though when some feel the need to act like an ass for no other reason to be one.
I enjoyed the entire video; we need more like it. The music was perfectly suited for the video, though it evoked a melancholic feeling. This feeling is commonly known as post-series depression or post-movie depression syndrome, which is a sense of sadness, emptiness, or grief that people may feel after concluding a movie, TV series, or book in which they were deeply engrossed.
The emotional impact of a story can be heightened by melancholic music or poignant scenes that highlight the characters' fates after pivotal events. It's a common emotional response as audiences form deep connections with the characters and the narrative, making it difficult to part with the story upon its conclusion. Although I realize stories cannot continue indefinitely, I often struggle with their endings. This is just who I am; it was difficult to bid farewell to the "Lost" TV series, and it's why I repeatedly watch the original "Dark Shadows" TV series whenever possible.
I think these renditions are amazing and beautiful artwork. I could watch your work for hrs
This was nice right up to Elizabeth Bathory. Then I got a chill down my spine.
Elizabeth Báthory, also known as the 'Blood Countess,' is a figure enveloped in a mix of historical fact and myth. The charges against her are serious, but it's vital to examine the context and the available evidence, or its absence, that surrounds her story.
First, many testimonies against her were extracted under torture, which casts doubt on their veracity. Furthermore, there was no solid physical evidence to directly connect her to the purported crimes.
The political environment of the era is also key. As a wealthy and influential noblewoman, Báthory was vulnerable to attacks from political adversaries who could benefit from her misfortune. Some scholars suggest that the charges were the result of a politically charged defamation campaign.
Additionally, the trial was notably unconventional, with Báthory being denied essential legal rights, including the use of torture to force confessions from her servants.
Recent scholarly work has added layers of complexity to her story, indicating that many tales about Báthory, like her alleged virgin blood baths, are more mythic than factual.
These considerations don't exonerate her but offer a more layered perspective on her case. Distinguishing between the established facts and the myths is crucial, taking into account the wider historical and political milieu.
And she looked so pleasant and dignified.
Elizabeth Bathory was probably wrongfully accused. She was a wealthy land-owner who refused to give up her land to men who wanted it, so they found a way to take it from her.
@@helbraheals I knew I would find "women did not do evil things; it was men's fault' comments like yours regarding Bethory, as women in the comment section always do about historical women. So modern women are capable of serial killing, but historical women are not? It's always the men's fault, huh?
Makes a lovely collection and ends it on an alleged serial killer.
When replicating portraits, we need to remember they didn't have cosmetics in common use until the 1600s, and then, mostly in the French court. Elizabeth I wore makeup to cover her smallpox scars, but it wasn't used by members of her court.
Would be more interesting if the women weren't automatically given modern mascara and eye shadow... and were made up with more authentic white makeup of the period. This is just pointless.
Quite well done. Keep ‘em coming!
How come animated versions are always much more beautiful than their portraits?
AI can generate more lifelike versions than paintings.
Artists historically followed popular trends in schools of painting by more prominent artists in different countries depending on which one was most popular at the time. Artists also depicted their subjects according to their personal perspective and not as they actually were. That's why portraits painted by diffrrent artists at different time periods can look very different
Because those portraits r mostly paintings, tools of the time weren't offering fidelity.
The women in particular are generally given more generous mouths, reflective of more contemporary beauty ideals?
More uncanny, you mean
Crazy, I always thought Donatello looked like a turtle
Brilliant! and the music sets the mood. Thank you!
I've always liked Mary of Guise. My wife looks just like her. The resemblance is uncanny 😊
Absolutely amazing, seeing these people come to life. I thoroughly enjoyed watching, so beautiful to see !
I always enjoy watching these. The only negative comment I have is that the recreations all have thicker and longer eyebrows.
These really are a stunning achievement. Mary of Guise’s lips are a bit thinner and more pursed and not so full and pretty as you have made them…but I’m sure she wouldn’t complain! Please please do Lettice Knollys, Countess of Essex and Elizabeth the 1st’s hated love rival and also Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, the man they fell-out over.
You brought Renaissance Master Donatello to life. The resemblance is amazing.
Doesn’t take into account for skin shade, pimples, uneven skin colouration, or other imperfections that would be present but the painter politely left out. Most of the women painted in ancient times were teenagers. And a painter who wanted favour would flatter his subject.
Wow, just WOW!
Not bad, but they look like Hollywood actors rather than real people. Its too styliszed and pretty.
💯
probably because the painting are also stylized and sanitized . Also they are the elite so they have access to beautification products and services. They are the equivalent of Hollywood stars of that time as they are the elite and famous.
They’re literal royalty. Of course they were beautified more than the average citizen.
This is probably what they really look like since portraits rarely do them justice.
Yeah the women have got modern western makeup.
I think a lot of renaissance European women had very pale makeup and heavily plucked eyebrows.
Truly outstanding work, and very lifelike. AI has come a long way in the last few years, but it takes someone with aesthetic awareness to produce this kind of art. Thank you!
Very good, though could I suggest that next time you don't reverse the motion, as it breaks the illusion. Great, though!
Your historical figures brought to life are the best! Please do Henry VIII and his wifes.
From what I read apparently many portraits of the past painted a flattering picture of their subjects. Not sure how glamorous they looked in real life.
I find it beautiful to see those characters almost like living, thank you!
Can't believe my eyes. Looks wonderful.
The women don’t resemble the portraits, they’re too glamorized
Why does AI insist on making the women smile but not the men, when most were not smiling in the painting? It feeds the rhetoric that women need to be seen as pleasing and welcoming. Even the serial killer was made to smile at the end!! Women do not have to smile to be acceptable.
AI is imitating who we are; “women should always smile”. We are a reflection of AI.
You should smile more sweetheart. No one likes a sour lady
So you’re a sourpuss feminist then?
WOW ❤😊 Bravo 👏 Bravo 👏 on this 👏 you did an excellent job 👏 👍 on this. Words cannot do this post justice ❤ Wow Thanks for posting this 👏 ❤
Pretty sure Donatello was a turtle
I love Botticelli's art, I think I would have really fallen for him as a man.
He looks like the sort whom a man might fall for
I'll be honest.
None of them look like their portraits, the AI only makes similar faces, and sometimes it doesn't respect skin color or lighting.
Nicely done, BRAVO!💖
Queen Henrietta Maria is reported to have had severe buck teeth never shown in any her portraits which were sympathetic to say the least!
Bravo ! . Keep going the good work , mighty . Nice AI program ! .
Pretty good! You should try to work in the Countess Barbara Rimsky-Korsakova, whose husband has the exact same name as the famous composer, but was not the composer. She scandalized the French Imperial Court with her raw beauty that Empress Eugenie had her kicked out of a ball. She was a stunning beauty.
Wow! AWESOME! That was so good I thot they found real people to model until I started reading all the negative comments. Haters sure love to hate.
Wow Thanks for this amazing video!! 😍📸❤❤❤❤❤ It was really good. The peoples was looking like they was really live in now!!
Super fun to watch and learn something about each of them.
This is great. Of course it is not perfect and everybody looks a lot better than the probably looked like, but it nevertheless brings them to life and pushes them closer to us today. Although being an artist myself, I always find it hard to relate to painted people (I hope this somehow makes sense). Beautiful music as well, not too distracting.
If you allow me one question: what AI do you use for the different tasks of creating and animating these portraits? I would love to try that with some old photos of my long dead grandparents.
3:30 Kublai Khan's eyes and cheeks seem wrong. Notice the distance between the lower edges of his eyebrows and upper fold of eyelids. Also, the AI version has his cheeks as shrunken vs the rather plumb cheeks in the painted version.

You haven't seen anything like this before
Meanwhile the youtube/social media AI apps advertisement:
Beautiful recreation of historical figures... except for Agnès Sorel, unfortunately, because you 're wrongly based on a Fantasy portrait made in the XIXth century...Yet we have real paintings from her time and a 3D scientific work from her bones...
Agnès Sorel était blonde...aux yeux bleus...
Too beautiful and too clean but nice.
Incredible, it give a good general idea of what they very well could looked like.
Rather impressive!! Thanks for animating the people too! Can other paintings, say, of battles or other events "come to life"? The music you are using almost sounds like Lantz & Speers!
Looks great
The last one: serial killer? Whoa!
She bathed in the blood of virgins.
Brilliant, really enjoyed that
You have done very well with this video...Thank you.
The recreations should stay onscreen and moving longer. Great work!
такое впечатление, что как 20 лет назад на компьютере рисовали динозавров 😀 живьем их никто не видел, но нарисовали как они могли бы выглядеть, основываясь на ящерицах. тоже самое тут по нарисованным портретам
Incredible! More please.
Thanks for it
Beautiful Creations!🥰
Wow! This is amazing! 🤩It's like magic to me. Thank you for your hard work! I don't want to be presumptuous, but if you're still looking for insperation for future videos: I would love to see my idol Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz in such a way. She was a mexican scholar, nun and poet. Today she is seen as a symbol of women's rights and sexual diversity, but nobody speaks of her in the west. There are also many high-quality paintings of her online.
Truly wonderful
Amazing
In my opinion, Donatello’s was the closest resemblance.
The other’s had slight nuances that didn’t quite match precisely.
This is great, thanks!
Very interesting ❤
They changed the skin color and added make up, which would've not been worn. How was this realistic?
Donatello went a little wall-eyed there in the middle…
Excellent video.
Excellent work.
That "Elizabeth Bathory" looks happy, I'm sure she was a nice person!
Something to remember is that these are recreations of what the painter sees and paints which is not necessarily a perfect rendition. If you have multiple paintings from different artists of the same person maybe you could arrive at a truer photographic recreation by using AI to combine them.
It is like bringing them back to life!
REALLY INCREDIBLE!!!
THEIR STARES ARE KINDA SCARY BUT A MARVELOUS WORK OF LIVE AI
Whoa, Boticelli! 🌶
This is brillant 🙌🏻
..Strange and Mysterious..Hail Yeah!..
Absolutely amazing. Especially Marie de Guise and Agnes Sorel were so gorgeous ❤❤
How do we know these women didn’t have zits, uneven skin tone, dark or yellow complexions? Skin is essential for true beauty. No painter who cared about his career wouldn’t flatter his subjects by making them appear better than they were. Queen Elizabeth 1 had horrible small pox scars, yet not one painting shows this. Not much different than the tic toc filters heh ..?
@@LisaG442 In public they likely covered impurities up with lots of plaster.
Absolutely Awesome
Wow! Spectacular
Great job!!!
Wspaniałe!👍 Agnes Sorel jest przepiękna 👁️👁️✨
How did you do this? It’s amazing
They need to include this for the new Civilization 7 game coming out in 2025. Including this technology in the leader scenes would be epic af.
WOOOW 😮😮😮❤
Do all the king lous 14 and 15 mistress.
4:52 lol 😂no. No! 🤣
Reducing the noise to almost zero, only then is this watchable.
Wow, that’s incredible! Is the background also AI generated?
This was awesome
fantastic job
Absolutely fascinating, even the ones i hadn't heard of. By the way, Maey of Guise was not Queen of Scoland. Monarchs of that country were known as Kings, and Queens, of Scots.
Could you make one about Napoleon and the Napoleonic Wars?
Awesome
This is truly great..❤
A.I and Real life never be the same....
These are very good.
They're great fugure on the past, today we can see them life but they couldn't see us 😊 thank god we life today
Very clever video. Congratulations to the costume and make up artists.
👏👏👏 Excelente.
I like Donatello!
Beautiful!
