I didn't know at the time how special these stars were and how much the world would change. I count my blessings to have grown up being a baby boomer. They don't make them like the used to, and the word Star has lost a lot of its meaning, just my .02...........
I found that very endearing, he obviously respected him very much. I noticed that also in other roasts, when Brooks performs Rickles seem to be having a ball. A truly great performer and, from everything I have read about him, a true gentleman.
God bless Don Rickles, who has made us all aware of laughing at ourselves, and for making this world wake up to the humor that each of us human characters possess.I cherish this man!Thank you,Don,for all the wonderful times on TV,all these years and counting!.....
As you can see Don Rickles didn't insult Foster Brooks but only compliments been given really shows how underrated Brooks is as a comedian. Rare gem indeed.
Ah, but Rickles insulted best the ones he was closest to. He insulted Sinatra often, and Sinatra would go see Rickles perform regularly for the privilege of being insulted.
Those were the day's when comedians were really funny with their side-splitting gags. It is so sad to think so many of them are no longer with us. RIP.
people must understand that Don Rickles could get away with roasting on everyone, every race, every religion, with no political correctness. Stars of the time flocked to his Las Vegas shows with the hope of being insulted by him, much like South Park today, it was a way to know they had made it in show business.
I think part of what allowed Don to get away with it is because people in the entertainment word knew that behind his entertainment persona, he was a class guy who loved people of all types ... the real fun for some of the was seeing this heartfelt guy transform into someone who could be "insulting", and transform back again. Just like no one thinks Ralph Fiennes is a nazi just because he convincingly played one in a movie once, this was the act. For some reason, too many people get offended if you make fun of people because of their race, or that they come from the South, or whatever.
Not politically correct and everyone respected and loved each other. ..and yet had class making fun without using disgusting language they really had talent ...it doesn't take talent to ues the f word every other word....we live in such a pathetic time now....at least we can look back and say those were the days.

@@albertpeterson5585 If I'm not mistaken, everyone roasts Don Rickles, then he gets the last word. So, his graciousness towards Foster Brooks was after Brooks roasted him good.
@@RoninTXBR549 ...Don said: "everyone was simply awful, except for the drunk, who was simply charming."; Don had no way of upstageing Foster, so he didn't even try; and, from Don, that is the ultimate respect.
You couldn't get away with this wit in today's PC-corrupt, humorless culture. Ah well, we'll keeping laughing anyway, eh "Jew Boy?" (Rickles is THE 'Merchant of Venom').
yea,,the comment Rickles made to Nipsy Russel about watermelons would have set these thin Skinned young'uns,,and Pc er on fire,,they are too damn serious,,chill out and laugh
Ok boomer
Michael Coatney the problem is their were very few people like rickles but there are a lot of racists in this world. It’s not humourless at all now a days. It’s just different.
Alas the Don is dead, God rest his soul.
Rickles' humor requires some level of intelligence, which is of course lost on many in America today.
Hi
Don R. Mueller, Ph.D
True
Here here!! BTW, Don R. Mueller got his Ph.D the day after the school learned Clint
Eastwood landed on the shores of Grenada.
You called it Doc, 100% correct.
Note that Don just paid Foster Brooks a compliment, all the other members of the dais he torched.
THAT's how good Foster is.
THAT's how much Don respected Foster.
I'm a little bit comedian in .y mind, but Don Rickles & Foster Brooks on the same stage are the greatest @ it bar NONE!!
@@davethompson6201 I absolutely agree with you, Dave. Those two men on the same stage was a force to be reckoned! Unmatchable talent!
I didn't know at the time how special these stars were and how much the world would change. I count my blessings to have grown up being a baby boomer. They don't make them like the used to, and the word Star has lost a lot of its meaning, just my .02...........
+85points85 they, oops...........
no comment
85points85 totally agree 👍🏾
A great man and comedian from a time when people had a sense of humor and weren't constantly offended by everything.
Amen
The fact was, he was a genuine, kind, sweet and humble man , the total opposite of his comedy schict.
Don offended everybody equally.
Wow, lotta respect for Foster Brooks here. Just a sincere compliment; no roast whatsoever.
I found that very endearing, he obviously respected him very much. I noticed that also in other roasts, when Brooks performs Rickles seem to be having a ball. A truly great performer and, from everything I have read about him, a true gentleman.
Rickles was hilarious.Dean Martin was so handsome and sang like a dream. Now days they wouldn't be allowed to smoke while doing the program.
This is the most laid back version of don I've seen but he's still great.
God bless Don Rickles, who has made us all aware of laughing at ourselves, and for making this world wake up to the humor that each of us human characters possess.I cherish this man!Thank you,Don,for all the wonderful times on TV,all these years and counting!.....

Loved Don Rickles.
Saw him in person at the Oakdale theater in Wallingford Ct

And he could STILL Destroy somebody in 10 seconds right up until the end. 😆😂🤣
As you can see Don Rickles didn't insult Foster Brooks but only compliments been given really shows how underrated Brooks is as a comedian. Rare gem indeed.
I relate to that. Fosters Brooks had a gift for humour
Wow
Ah, but Rickles insulted best the ones he was closest to. He insulted Sinatra often, and Sinatra would go see Rickles perform regularly for the privilege of being insulted.
Don Rickles always ends his routine with humility and many humble thank yous.
Those were the day's when comedians were really funny with their side-splitting gags. It is so sad to think so many of them are no longer with us. RIP.
We miss you, Mr. Warmth.....
great great stuff. In this era, would never work, everyone so sue-happy and thin skinned. A great era gone-by
Ok boomer
people must understand that Don Rickles could get away with roasting on everyone, every race, every religion, with no political correctness.

TeganX7 it was because of his tone. just like Andrew Dice clay he was so absurd you just couldn't take it as insulting or racist or attacking.
You are a disgusting piece of trash
I agree with Cid. Great stuff.
Not politically correct and everyone respected and loved each other. ..and yet had class making fun without using disgusting language they really had talent ...it doesn't take talent to ues the f word every other word....we live in such a pathetic time now....at least we can look back and say those were the days.
MUCH LIKE SP..???...HELL NO...;;-(,,,,,,
Not one person was safe. All jokes, celebrity and spectator alike, Don roasted EVERYBODY even himself😂😂😂😂😂😂
R.I.P. Don
Don rickles what a legend
David erris elvis barrett YES!!!
Don Rickles, may you live forever.
Dean Martin was one of my favorite actors and singers. The talent on this show is amazing. Telly Savalas and Don Rickels were in the wild ass move Kelly's Heroes with Clint Eastwood too. Rickles....the merchant of venom! LOL!
The best. It's a shame there is no humor these days. These guys had it right, love, laugh and respect.
Don is great and still working! I saw him at Mike Bane, the clothing store on Hollywood Blvd. He was doing shtick with the salesman. His wife had no expression and it was all really funny!!
"I never knew you had that much hair - you can't even tell." There's something brilliant about that line that I cannot put in words.
When I feel down I pull up a Rickles video and feel better . May he Rest In Peace
"Oh we have a seal in the crowd"lmfaooo 😂😂😂😂
Rickles is hilarious. The master of the insult.
Amazing, great comedy without dirty jokes and profanity. It's called, "talent."
Back when TV was good.....
dean martin's face is the funniest thing about this video hahaha
Man miss those days real entrainment unlike the crap of today.
