I like the forming jig. I have some solid copper bar stock, taken from an industrial size transformer, that I cut at 4 inches. Then with annealing and hammering the ends, I drew it out to seven inches. Not sure what I will Stanmore into it, but it will be for my mother. Thanks for the video
@@nickhammer6408Most any oil will work. I prefer Teak oil, for it's hard finish and protective qualities. This method also creates a rich antique color on the surface of the metal.
Hej I never thought of that. I have tried lacquer but alot of ppl have liked all my copper items but do not like their skin turning gree. I dont mind personally, you just wash it off. ppl today want copper that has been treated or looks like copper. Shame as years ago our ancestors all had copper jewlerry etc.
I have stopped making these but yes! If I remember correctly I sold them for maybe $3-$5 each? Maybe? They where a great project to batch out and make a bunch of, Im sure they would sell very well at a farmers market or on Etsy too.
I first made a bracelet that i thought would fit most wrists well, i then traced that shape onto a block of wood but i made it smaller to account for some return flex. The pin is just a bent nail.
Nice, I have lots of copper pieces and lengths from years in the trades...I really liked the idea of using a file to give it some texture...I'm Using 1.25 down to .75 copper pieces...I like a bit of heft...
I have found that either a clear spray lacquer or even some paste finishing wax will help keep the shine and prevent the green oxidation. If you notice the bracelet starting to turn green go over it with some very fine sandpaper (1200+ grit) or give it a good rub with a course fabric like denim or something. If you have a buffing machine that will give the best polish though. After a polish, clean with acetone or warm soapy water and then apply one of the two finishes I mentioned earlier. I hope this helps! Happy crafting!
Fantastic bender jig. Does lacquering effect the so called medicinal properties? I have just bought a cheap bracelet off eBay, I have sanded the copper coating off a small section I don’t think it’s made of copper. The metal has a silver colour.
Oh boy thank you! As far as texture goes I think the world is your oyster! Maybe a rough rock or a ball bearing for something smoother... maybe even the threads on a bolt would work!
I had one of those when I was in hospital (it wasn't copper though... just cheap plastic). It had my name on too... which came in handy when I was coming around from the anaesthetic. I didn't know who the hell I was.
Question!!! You sprayed the inside of the bracelet so your skin doesn't turn green correct!!??? Or was it where you stamped the letters!???? your video is very good! :)
There is no blade guard! And the blade is moving so slowly and the teeth are so small that even when I do make contact with the blade there is hardly if any damage! Dont worry though I always take it slow and devote my concentration to what I am cutting.
Kay Zoretic it’s 1/4” copper tubing that came in a 20’ length! The white box right at the beginning shows the packaging that it comes in from Lowe’s. The length I cut the pieces too is 6 1/2” I believe but really that length depends on the size of the wrist you are making it for:)
@@johneyler8247 Thank you SO much for the quick and complete answer to my question. I will be subscribing to your channel and "thumbs-upping" this video. I look forward to seeing more of them.
I made one bracelet originally and wore it and adjusted it until it was comfortable on my wrist. I then took my bracelet off and traced the interior of the bracelet on a piece of wood and cut the shape out... that gave me the shape of the bracelets. I then bent a nail and impeded it into the wood shape where one of the bracelet ends would be.
You don't need an anvil! If you can get a piece of copper, some heavy-duty shears/scissors, and a bit of sandpaper you can make just as good if not even better of a bracelet. I make videos not so people can copy exactly what I do, but so they can see what I make with what I have, in hopes of them being inspired to make things with what they have.
For "therapy," the copper wide surface area type bracelet must be overlapping with out touching, with a type of closure to hold its position as insulated, in a SPIRAL. The original health benefits came from science research a long time ago, which you probably never studied. 98% of users have it wrong. The vibrational energy in the air has frequencies, many from cosmic radiation. The cellular living tissue within the spiral gets absorbed energy at a low amplification. (Antenna) This works on people, animals and plants. I used this many years ago on my old dog with arthritis. Twice it worked.( Animals and plants don't have "BIAS"- Gee I think I feel better.) See - study the data published about the work of George Lakhovski and the booklet "The Waves That Heal" Cancer eliminated in potted plants, and use of the electrically active type, or passive type copper spirals. So now you know.
What did you buff them with to make the black letters. I tried this but the letters did not get black. Thanks for sharing this video. I have been making copper critters for years but i want to cut back and start making smaller pieces. you can see my work on my Fb page facebook.com/search/top/?q=freaky%20frogs%20by%20vicki%20bangs
It just happens with the buffing wheel, however you could try using black spray paint and then buffing and that would probably give a pretty good effect!
Hello. How do you ensure the bracelets dont get corroded/blacken very quickly? I ordered a copper strip, cleaned it sparkling new, stamped a name and filled the ink. Kept those strips as it is in my drawer and in 3-4 days it already got corroded. Maybe its something to do with my environment humidity. But since I am planning to sell them I find it risky my customers open packet and find a blackened copper bracelet. Can you suggest something ?
It's not corrosion! It's oxidation and it's not harmful. In fact that is what helps you absorb the benefits of wearing copper. If you don't like that, watch the video again and see what he does to prevent it
Doesn't copper have healing properties for rheumatism for example? Yet you have put a barrier between the bracelet and skin by using that spray!? Defeats the object surely
I cant say for certain the healing properties are a fact. I know some people who wear them for that and some people who have tried and it didn't really do much:/ The spray is optional of course, I just did it because the person buying them wanted it!
@Mike Owczarzakgo get your GED. I wouldn't trust anything you make. You can't even spell correctly even with autocorrect. Let me put it in words you'll understand. Um, duh, der, um, pooped my pants, duh.

You should try heating them with a torch and dunking them in oil. it creates an antique finish that also protects the metal from turning green.
