    well done. I wanted to share something I saw a few days ago. To quickly clean our oxidized copper. another method is to put a teaspoon of salt into 1/4 cup of vinegar...drop the piece into the bowl , it works super fast to restore colour.That citric acid worked super well too.Thankyou.

    Love the finished product! I have a suggestion though.. you should reface your anvil and give it a mirror polish, or as close as you can get. This will help the finished product have a much better shine after flattening 🤙🏻I’m a blacksmith so it’s a bit hard to see an anvil that coarse and rusty

    Very nice. Never thought of using citrus/citric acid for a cleaning. Very interesting pattern after final filing and polish. Thank you for making and sharing this video.
    For shaping bracelets I usually use an oval instead of a round mandrel, or the horn of my 68kg farrier anvil (long story how I acquired it) or both. An oval fits better to the wrist if it is for arthritis.
    (Folk medicine that seems to work, some wear copper to help ease pain of arthritis. It seems to change body chemistry. When one first starts wearing the copper, their skin may turn greenish at the spot. Over time that stops and maximum benefit is obtained.)

    Nice idea twisting thinner gauge wire around thick gauge.
    You need to work on the evenness though, the loops are quite uneven throughout the whole length. I suggest clamping a single wire into vice and the other end into a cordless drill and spin it until it's completely straight, when you make all your material straight then twist them together. It's better to start with all your stock material straight.

    • @user-ml3hl6vr4t
      @user-ml3hl6vr4t 2 года назад +8

      I find the slight uneven twisting and such to be more attractive. It is a genuinely handcrafted original. On the very first wire twisting there was a little wild loop that was a minor bit that could have easily been avoided. It looks like it disappeared during twist though.

  • @bmac406
    @bmac406 Год назад +13

    Great job , I use a drill to twist my copper which gives perfect twists everytime especially with bigger gauge wire but I agree with what you said about keeping it authentically hand made and your end result is beautiful , thanks for the video and btw i found your instructions easy to follow much appreciation from Perth Australia P.S. hang onto your silver it'll be worth a fortune soon :)

    No need to rush to quench when annealing copper. Also better to leave wire straight to do the next stages of annealing. Copper work hardens so bending after annealing produces local hardening at the positions where the bends are straightened.

    This is a very substantial cuff bracelet... very cool! ❤ Beautiful craftsmanship on the bracelet and I like your manual wire twisting technique. It's quite clever to use an allen wrench as a crank (I wish I'd thought of it! 😄). I already have twisted wire waiting for a project like this but not sure my kitchen torch will provide sufficient heat. I may have to practice making a less substantial cuff instead... or use silver. Thanks so much for sharing! 😊

    Wow!! I am a collector of jewellery by far. But completely new to jewellery making! Why do you heat the copper the. Submerge to cool then hammer then repeat ? I would assume heating it would harden it. But then hitting with hammer will soften it again. I'm confused. I'm about to do my first wire wrapp this weekend with a huge amber piece with 1.5mm pure copper wire. So trying to learn as much as I can ready

    • @trollfot
      @trollfot Месяц назад

      It's the other way around. Copper, Brass, Silver, Gold... They will soften when heated. It "relaxes" the metal. Working it (twisting, hammering...) will harden and stiffen it.

    Wearing copper bracelets will draw out all the cryptotrons from your body. Cryptotrons are necessary to maintain proper production of your hair follicles in your ears which help to filter out things you don’t want to hear. Anyway that’s what I was told by a “doctor” with a sack full of chicken feathers,bones, the beak of an owl and a bottle of Wild Turkey. 😜

    Looks awesome dude! I have a couple suggestions that are very minimal but would help out a ton. When your about to start twisting the wires give it a slight tug with the pully wheel and Allen wrench enough to stretch the wire a little bit so you start at the end of each wire and they twist evenly. The next suggestion after twisting, wrap them around a wood dowel or something instead on putting tight bends in them but you can anil them quickly still and unraveling them would be easier and more evenly work hardened. Just suggestions because you achieved a nice bracelet doing it your way. Keep on keeping on!

      Copper work hardens (gets hard as you work with it) heating and quickly quenching, ''softens'' the copper to make it easier to work with

      It's called annealing... it releases any work hardening and makes the copper softer and more easily workable ..

    Why would you need to constantly heat the copper wire, when I made mine, i didn't use any heat, other than soldering the ends,it saves a lot of time, ..

    How do you get the “bubble” out of the wire when you’re twisting it up? Does it just come out naturally? Also great video keep it up!

      Always stretch the wire first to remove kinks before they become a problem...not after.
