Is he Asian? Normally in many parts of Asia people do not care about safety. Even when they are provided with eye goggles and ear plugs, the workers would not use them. They would only put them on when the safety inspector come to check.
I looked up Gembol wood. I found mention of teak wood? Those slabs were some of the most beautiful cuts I have ever seen in a wood. I wonder how much it sells for there.
I love Love the colors of that wood. Thank you for filming it. It sucks that they hit a nail. Blades are expensive to replace, time consuming sharpening . What was made with it tables, Big Big Bucks . I worked at a wood shop for a year ,I still love the smell of cut wood.

I'd also use a face shield & some kind of flak jacket chest protector (if using this machine), cause all it takes, is one bad accident to leave you with a lifetime of regrets. Really cool Brother. I am a Lumberman myself, 40 years in a Sawmill. I am currently a Head Sawfiler. Yeah we are more advanced in technology and safety, but the simplicity of your mill is very cool. Thanks for your video.

Amazing work. What was on the stick (lubricant??) that was used against the bandsaw blade please? Was it wax? Also, there was such lovely figure in the wood, what kind of wood was it? ... and such an enormous tree! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much for your response, this wood is gembol mahogany, and the wooden stick functions to help remove the sap that sticks to the band saw.
True, experienced craftsman...(not armchair quarterbacks) don't need or use many "safety" options...like guards, googles, etc. that just get in the way, hinder judgement, slow down the job....fast reflexes, fast decisions come from those who work for a living..
The grain on the wood is beautiful, but the entire time I’m worried that sawdust was going to get into his eyes 👀. Also, in addition to googles, how about some earplugs too.
Beautiful slabs. The nail was quite interesting to me. Not that it was in the tree, but at its' location. I wonder how many years growth were around it. I use to live in a small town in southern Colorado many years ago as a kid. ( I am now 64) There was a sawmill there, and my dad once bought a 1x8 from them that actually had a lead bullet in it that had gone through all the processes of milling. We actually cut a foot out of the board to save it. Somehow, somewhere it disappeared. 😢
Bullets in lumber are not that uncommon. We saw them with some regularity when running lumber through the molders at a window factory I use to work at.

But the saw blade really needs to be reswedged and perhaps the guides are a little loose. Too nice of wood to cut sloppy.
