It’s been a couple years since I’ve watched this and I’m really noticing how Adaline‘s age shows through in her decision to date Ellis in modern day. You guys are completely right, Ellis’ behaviour raises major red flags but to Adaline, he could possibly be the first attractive boy in decades that really fulfils her outdated version of romance.
That's an interesting way of seeing it. Makes a lot of sense. Her ideas on what a perfect man would be like, and act like are completely different than modern women would be. I mean she married a guy after about 3 months because he was nice enough to pick up her hat. that's all it took back in the day, a guy with a job... if he was handsome, and nice and didn't abuse his wife, that was a plus.
I'm sorry. I scrolled through the comments to see if anyone caught what Bryce said at 1:19 and didn't find anything. Go Piss Girl is wild! I thought I lost my mind for a second. That was hilarious.
@@itsbrittfutch9396 this is exactly what I thought. Although reel time hasn't committed to all 8 of tvd though. I loved gg even more and no one reacts to it! Unless they are doing those annoying first and last vids
I thought this was an interesting concept with not ageing but Ellis as the love interest just turned me off he was creepy could have been better if they had chemistry at least
@@daisuki718 what else would've worked on her? Please tell me. With how closed off she was to everything, a guy who WASN'T forward stood no chance. There's no way she was gonna pursue anyone. So the only way for her to let her walls down and be open to a relationship again was for someone to pursue HER. Someone who's still able to surprise her and someone who actually took an interest in her off of little details. Could he have eased off a little bit? Yes. But this is one of those rare times when persitence was the only way the story could happen.
They really didn't need the exposition about Adeline aging again. Most people don't need to be spoon fed the plot. There's a reason why good movies show not tell. 49:23

Since y’all did this one I’m gonna start petitioning for A Winter’s Tale. It would be perfect for a December movie watch. It’s certainly more magical realism than sci fi but extended time period and romantic atmospheres feel very similar!
This is my favorite movie ever 😍🎥 it’s No. 1 on all my lists. I relate to Adaline so much for reasons I cannot disclose. So happy to see my fav boys reacting! 🙌
The whole dating father and son plotline definitely wasn't needed. They could have had the one she left in the sixties be a friend of the family that just happened to be at their house when Ellis and Adeline arrived. This is just too creepy.
@@oliviarogers2808 first it was because i felt really sad abt him and Adaline not being able to be together but now, after watching the movie, i feel like they truly loved each other and unfortunately they were separated because of Adaline's fear, which idk i feel like thats a shame and its sad and you can tell how much it affected him and her.

I have this ritual of watching the Age of Adaline every new year’s eve. I really like this movie. The first scene between Adaline and Harrison Ford’s character was so intense to a point I felt gutted along with Harrison Ford.
And America Ferrara and Alexis Bledel and Amber Tamblyn. AND FRIENDSHIP. But that may be better saved for when Zuff is back and ready (with them forewarned about the cancer storyline).

This movie reminds of a tv show called “the forever” same concept a man never ages, his son is old. But he works as medical examiner it’s more like criminal show he works with a detective on solving murder cases, at same time figuring out why he doesn’t age. So good!!!
“That’s not a real sentence.” You know, telomeres do exist. Obviously, the fake science here is fake, the pliability or whatever they said changed by what happened to her (temperature shock followed by electric shock and then oxygenation) is a invention, but it’s based on real science. Some movies do go way off base, but I like when movies use actual science and things we can’t explain yet and then go for poetic license. I don’t know if you all watched Interstellar, but they do a similar thing. There’s actually a video with Neil Degrasse Tyson fact checking the science behind it and he usually is mad about astronomy inaccuracies in movies, but they get all the science right. But then comes a part where not even science can explain and that’s where fantasy enters. Telomeres are essentially sequences of nucleotide repetitions at the terminal end of the chromosomes and they protect the DNA from getting damaged. But as we age, they get shorter, and they trigger DNA damage and cell aging. When they are gone, cells stop diving. Their size and shortening rate vary from species to species. Some have longer but they shorten faster. It basically lifespan of a species. So if we were to find out how to delay this shortening, maybe we can figure out how to age slower or live forever even. Perhaps this movie will do a Simpsons and something will be discovered by 2035. Immortality is a topic science always obsessed over. Alchemists were always looking for the Elixir of Life. I think it’s human nature to find ways to deny the natural order of things. It it were possible, I think I’d be like this, a chain of events, not manipulated. As for Aang, since it has a lot based of eastern concepts, I’d say it has to do with his qi. Of course, the avatar state is not real, but the ancestral energy that constitutes life is called Yuan Qi, and maybe it protected him?
