"For the first track, I have attempted to musically capture the journey of the character Frog from young knight, to his transformation, his quest for vengeance and his ultimate victory. To anyone who has played the game, the cues should be easily recognizable. The original tracks that I have taken as inspiration include Frog’s Theme, Courage and Pride, Zeal Palace, and Battle with Magus. They were all composed by Yasunori Mitsuda.
For this track, I have used the EWQLSO library of orchestral samples as well as a few custom guitar recordings of my own."

The inclusion of Castle Guardia's theme and Magus' theme really tied this all together. Really conveys the feeling of his "journey" as Dan was aiming for.
Fellow Chrono music remixer here, I really like how you approached this in a sort of chronological order, telling Frog's whole story arc. Very cool idea and very nice arrangements.

I went through a Chrono Trigger phase recently (and will do again) when I completed the game for the first time. I then listened to a range of music covers from the game. This is the one I always come back to.
It just breathes life into an already incredible game, and honours the outstanding soundtrack for Chrono Trigger. This is a masterpiece.

Speaking of which, I would say that money could be equated to magic in the kingdom of Zeal, there was a class division where there were those who could have magic and those who could not. Perhaps it was ambition that drove Zeal mad. But still I don't think this could be the best way to compare both things, "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely". I could extend this paragraph more, but it have been a while since I spoke in English to make text more complex than saying hello and chat 😂.

This remix is, was, and will forever be my favorite. So many moments I'm forced to cry with joy. So many powerful moments I feel like I'm the composer of an orchestra right in front of me igniting the band to play harder and harder with heart and soul put into every note.
This song is the dream that Chrono Trigger inspires. It encompasses so much without even touching the rest of the perfection that is the full OST.
Bravo Dan Goodale. You accomplished everything I sought after many years ago when I began hunting for the perfect versions of these melodies.
Time cannot alter our love for this character, nor words express the emotional pull this arrangement incurs. Thank you.

I'm one of those gamers that loves video game music every bit as much as the video games. I am also very wary of remixes, because sometimes they are remixed in such a way that disconnects me from it.
But this right here is like, I guess you could call this a remix, but it's more like a reimagined original composition. I mean I know the tracks are from the game, but to put all the music together, like how it fades into Magus' themes too, that is really amazing.
Look to the genius of this games creators. The masterminds of dragonquest, dragon ball, and final fantasy came together for this masterpiece of a game that still has no equal to this day
@@justinellenbecker3057 I know people that don't care for the game that much, but I whole-heartedly agree. I feel like even the extra content in the DS version fit in so well, and I 100% agree with you on the music. The way the music fits in, and the callbacks to certain musical themes and certain times, I think that is detail that goes unnoticed.
I had both the original SNES version and the original Playstation version that came in Final Fantasy Chronicles. I heard they redid a lot of stuff for the DS version. Like renaming the "Dark Ages" to "Antiquity" and a bunch of other changes. I currently have it on my phone via play store. Thinking about rebuying it on console if they offer a version for one of my 3. Or if Nintendo online would add it to their SNES list
@@justinellenbecker3057 there are some wording changes in the DS version, you are right. I feel like it didn't take away too much from the original. And there's like a beefed up version of Lavos in one of the extra dungeons, not gonna say anything else about it just in case, but it's very intriguing and worth a look in my opinion.

Well done, I was just searching the web for versions of Frogs themes and I really think this was one of the better one! Especially as you chose to begin with the soft quiet version and ended up in the bombastic triumphant one, the melody can do either afterall and it was great seeing both ways being used here. Thank you, I liked this a lot ;)

I like how he basically carries the whole game if you don't go back to revive mc, it's much better to go back and revive mc tho, but if you don't, frog is actually a better mc altogether since well, he speaks lol, but there's kind of a sad atmosphere on the whole team if you don't revive mc, like you win important battles and progress, but you get scenes like all of them looking down or up to the skies and their dialogues are incredibly sad, mc carries 70% of the game up to a point so they're incredibly fond of him and are thankful for everything he did for them since he basically saves and inspires everyone, he's a best friend, a lover, a sworn brother, a father figure, an inspiring leader, and a great rival, if you finish the game without him you will get a final dialogue along these lines "we won the battle but we lost something very dear to us, we shall never forget our friend, we would not have come this far if not for him, you'll always be missed and remembered "insert mc name", and even though you just won one hell of a final battle, everyone is still down for mc's loss and they don't feel like they just got a victory at all

The original Frog theme song sounds whiny and sad; this sounds like a Medieval ballad about a legendary knight who defeated a sorcerer and brought an age of peace and prosperity to his kingdom.
