Trains at Ipswich - 23/12/2023

Filmed on 23/12/2023. So, this is it the final trainspotting session of 2023. Whilst away seeing relatives and animal sitting business and before the long journey home, we return to the town of Ipswich. (Season 10 Episode 41)
Since our previous visit to Suffolk and to Ipswich, Greater Anglia increased their hourly London to Norwich services to now running every 30 minutes. Oddly though, 3 class 755/4 units coupled together were substituted to work on a Norwich to London Liverpool Street service in place of the class 745. It's all Flirt train territory with mostly class 745 for their express Norwich to London Liverpool Street services and the class 755's used for their regional services linking to: Lowestoft, Cambridge, Peterborough and to the busy seaside town of Felixstowe.
Ipswich is also home to Freightliner where various class 66 and 90 locomotives are stored and maintained. On certain Intermodal trains, the class 90's would come off and would be replaced with a class 66 would take the train onwards through to Felixstowe docks. Which is worked by Freightliner and GBRF trains. The East Suffolk Line is very busy for its intermodal traffic to and from Felixstowe running to the regions of: Trafford Park, London Gateway and Crewe.

Thanks very much my friend. Ah nice one, Ipswich is an interesting place to visit for the town, the gateway for Felixstowe via the East Suffolk Line and plenty of intermodal traffic. Neat, personally I'm not a football fan but hopefully Ipswich Town are doing well for their home town :-)
