      Overrated. One of the worst draws in WCW (and only got the belt because of the racism lawsuit) and Bottom 10 worst drawing WWE Champions all time. He couldn't cut a promo to save his life (never forget his infamous Nitro promo on Hogan) and was extremely mediocre in the ring. Just no redeeming qualities. If he was white, he would've been a undercard guy.

    It took a long time for Booker to get his shot; literally when WCW was ending. Even WWE did him wrong at first by bringing him in and putting him up against Rock when Rock was super over. Yet during the match, Booker started winning the crowd over. You can hear it happen partway through.
    WWE has since done him right with two different Hall of Fame inductions, he gets to do the commentary for PPV events, and is widely regarded as one of the best workers of all-time.

      Taker & Austin both stepped up big for Booker in the locker room/behind the scenes when he first got there. That was huge for Book and his reputation with the rest of the boys and with Vince. Those two knew Book had "it," and made sure he got the respect he deserved.

    What frustrates me so much with these podcast that talk about Booker is they put him over 25 years later when they could have done it back in 1998 or 1999 in the ring. You all are full of shit! To me all those top guys fucked all those WCW fans out of some potentially good matches and storylines . Also Booker was playing video games in the locker room instead of politicking because he knew he was never going to really get to the top in the good ol boys club anyways and it wasn't because of his skills. Booker is so smart and played the political game so well, which is why he is still involved in WWE to this day. I can't think of anyone outside of maybe Rey Mysterio that went to WWE after it acquired WCW and had a great career. Everyone else either was jobbed out and left to look like a fool. Lastly, everyone knows including Triple H, that Booker T should have been bigger than he was but for some reason that never happened and it had nothing to do with his talent or performance in the ring.

    Booker is fantastic as a person and a performer. Hogan was the Big 🧀 with creative control in his contract. If you have it, you use it. No one else did. So Hogan has heat during his WCW years by most of the boys over it including Booker T. Nash and Hall understood it. Like the famous line in the movie Chinatown, but "It's Hulk Hogan."

    • @leesmith813
      @leesmith813 11 дней назад

      True, I recall a few things which happened which I doubt other WCW guys would NOT have agreed to do:
      1. His debut in WWE, when Rock was like 'who in the blue hell are you?'
      2. Taking an absolute beating from Austin all through a grocery store.
      3. Joining the nWo then being instantly kicked out.
      4. Having a racist angle with HHH.
      I think Vince M loved comedy, so Booker proving himself through all of it probably won him over in WWE.

    Hogan had creative control, sure, and an argument can be made he should and could look out for himself, but the stuff he did ultimately hurt WCW which in turn, obviously, would damage everyone else there. So in essence, Hulk did ultimately contribute to WCWs downfall. That Hogan/Sting debacle at SC97 is prime example of this. The biggest match in the history of the company ended being a joke and what we learned of Hulk’s role massively contributed to it

    Triple H screwed Booker over in that Wrestlemania.. Booker had so much momentum on his side leading up to that match... and he gets pinned clean... thats crazy... if anything, it should have been at least a disqualification... I hate Triple H for that.. LOL

    This is exactly why Maven's channel is head and shoulder above other wrestling podcast. The title is false. They spend time talking about Hogan (how original)

    Nash was already the starving artist. By the 2nd WCW run, he was well-fed and chilled out. Booker T still had something to prove.
