Sitting down and eating lunch. Opening my RUclips feed. Seeing Bernie on Colbert. Listening along with the cute jokes and intermittent inflexions of wisdom....And then this: "God, I wish I could give that address." In a flash, my heart was broken. The way his voice trailed off. The sadness and yearning and the dashed aspirations for something that never came to pass. Bernie has always been a man of the people. There have been many missed opportunities and tragedies that have punctuated American history, but there will always be that feeling that Bernie could have helped us. Its that feeling of loss, that for me, will always linger. CET

As a citicen of a very small and insignificant country in the heart of Europe, I don't understand the mindset of the US-Americans stating that they are the "Greatest country in the world". In my country, there is health care for everyone, the kids actually learn something at school, and at elections, the party or person with the most votes wins (we call that "democracy"). Why do Americans have to constantly remind themselves of being the "greatest country on the planet"? Why can't they just say, "Okay, our country is pretty decent, let's make it even better! And while we're at it, let's get rid of some of the really embarressing flaws, please!"?

But you guys automatically pick us as the flag bearer? The "America" of the Americas???

Not only was she just a bad candidate, but no more legacy family candidates. People talk about Michelle Obama. Our framers would not want that. @HOTD108_ 10 месяцев назад +1

@@suomynona4607That would be ideal, but realistically it's going to take some time. An ideology that corrosive is ironically quite hard to dissolve so it won't go suddenly, but with a persistent focus on education, specially in regard to history, will organically dismantle MAGA eventually. We need to teach our children that this yearning for America's past, to be "great again", is nothing more than a mirage of nostalgia, propagated by bigots and sold to the gullible. I mean, do you think it's a coincidence that MAGA is most popular among a certain generation of white Americans who just so happened to grow up at a point in history when minorities had almost no voice?
At worst MAGA is championed by bigots who want to undo decades of progressive progress, and at best it's a bunch of people conflating the objective reality of America's past with the fact their desire for the past is almost entirely fuelled by the fact that they were children back then and of course life is better when you're a child because you have less worries. To be MAGA is to lack the ability to seperate one's nostalgia from reality, and by teaching enough people how to seperate the two, MAGA will eventually cease to exist.

The only politician that moved me and the only one that has received my contributions in support. If only more people understood what he is trying to accomplish would benefit them. He has also shown that age is only one factor as it impacts everyone differently. Bernie is sharp and intelligent... he speaks well and isn't easily sidetracked. We have young members in congress (and local legislatures/judicial/etc) that are some of the dimmest bulbs in the world, on TOP of being the worst people you've ever seen.
