I have said this before and I will say it again, Bernie Sanders is the first elected official who accurately and almost always expresses my views and opinions. We need more people like him if we are going to move forward together in pursuit of achieving equality for everyone. We could live in a better world for 100% of the world’s populous by working together for our common benefit.
Look at Bernie's history. He has been consistent in his message since the late 80s when he was first elected to Congress (before he was a Senator). He was an early propoment for a national (government provided) healthcare system. When she was First Lady, before she had received any lobbyist money, she made it her focus to try to get Congress to pass a national healthcare system. At the press conference announcing this initiative, she introduced her great ally from the Congress...Representative Bernie Sanders from Vermont.
This actually made me emotional. The way Bernie can go anywhere and speak as well as answer questions and inspire a crowd so amazingly is truly heart warming and validating and I am still so sad that he probably won't ever be the President he and many Americans deserve.

@@Tehhelpfulmincrafter I know what you mean but I'm not sure I agree. Bernie is such a well known and respected individual in leftist communities not only in the U.S. but globally as well. As leftist movements gain more traction, popularity and effectiveness, so will his name and reputation. I think decades down the line Bernie will be the one most people will point to as getting them thinking about these systems when they were younger.
@SD789 It all depends on what happens to his movement & progressivism in the United States. Could be that 4 years from now a younger Bernie-esque politician wins the Dem nomination and becomes a revolutionary president. In that case, Bernie will be viewed as the godfather and beginning of that transformative time in US politics. Either way, I think Bernie has planted more than a few seeds for future progress in the US and among the youngest generations, who will wield incredible power in just another decade or two.
@SD789 Bernie Sanders literally almost won the Dem nomination (twice). He scared the party so bad, they all had to come together at the last moment and pull out every last stop they could. You're vastly underestimating both him and a future pro-worker candidate that adopts his policies. Bernie-style progressives have already won all over the country on the federal level, so he's already accomplished more than Eugene V. Debs according to your own description.
I could see him being viewed similarly to Cato the Younger in Roman classical antiquity, Cato's (for the time) conservative worldview notwithstanding. Especially since "conservatism" in Rome during his lifetime was really just upholding status-quo Roman antipopulism and senatorialism against upstart authoritarians like Caesar. He and Bernie likely may have agreed on this position. I think the respect Bernie garners for his work and unshakable integrity, but mostly just his sense for PEOPLE - his ability to tap into what we're all feeling and what we all need to hear - is the most precious virtue he shares with Cato and one he'll hopefully be looked upon kindly for centuries after we're gone.
Sander's is more a snake oil salesman that, if America ever embraced socialism, would largely be remembered as someone who help popularise an economic system that fails miserably every time. His entire book blames everything on Capitalism, never addresses the shortcomings of his own ideology, doesn't bother explaining why Socialism is superior, and then calls for mass wealth redistribution. What a hero.

This is coming from a european, I'm confused why the American people don't elect bernie. He seems like such an honest politician who wants to help the average person. Do Americans not want free healthcare, education, wealth and income equality?
A large segment of the American population has been brainwashed into believing that Sanders and similar politicians are out to get them in every way imaginable. At the same time, the U.S. electoral college system causes states with lower populations (usually more conservative) to have a disproportionate impact in our presidential elections. This is not to mention the issue of gerrymandering at the state politics level, lowering education standards, difficulty in taking time off of work to vote, etc.
Many Americans don’t want that. They have been systematically programmed to believe in individualism and independence. At the bare bones, they believe life is “survival of the fittest.” It’s a very sad place to be as a society.
Well.... we also have a huge media complex that tells lies people believe. Also, when Bernie was about to win, the democratic party trashed him, and he didn't fight back, at all..... So yes, his words are great, he's a nice guy, and he can't get crap done!!
Unfortunately no we do not. We’ve been sold a can of lies that government is inherently corrupt and dysfunctional, so we don’t believe that there is a solution to these problems.
Well, he could not do it on his own as Prez. Three would also have to be sane uncorrupt Republicans in Congress to vote along with progressives on sensible things like reforming health care and lowering prescription drugs, or encouraging climate action. Because Democrats and Bernie can not get these things done on their own with such slim margins in the House and Senate.
@@yuridouche6195 well, Congress is Congress. That’s not really his stomping ground if he gets elected president. His cabinet, on the other hand, would be epic. I can just imagine the sorts of people he would choose as his treasury secretary, Labor secretary and secretary of education to say nothing of surgeon general. I also don’t think he would hesitate to use executive orders to make things happen. As far as addressing the majority issue in Congress, he excels at grassroots mobilization. Perhaps, the first two years of his term would be shaky and bumpy because of slim majorities. I think the second set of two years of his first term would be quite different. He would have the bully pulpit to mobilize the voters. He is quite the speaker when he hits his stride and really gets going. This video doesn’t do him justice. I’ve never seen any other American politician so effectively connect with the crowd in modern times. Barack Obama comes close. Damn him, so does Trump. But even he can’t quite do what Bernie can do.

@@nodialogoconladictaduracub1683 I agree with your comment completely.
What county do you teach in?
Thank you Bernie. We Love you very much for your amazing ability to address the most important subject matter. You are a great leader. I hope all that watch this pays attention.
probably the best speaker at the Union since James Baldwin
Inspiring as always! Still feeling the Bern 🔥 🐦
The reason I am a supporter of Bernie is that when he speaks, whether it be in response to a question, in a speech, at a roundtable discussion, or even TMZ style tidbits, I listen to what he says and it only takes me a fraction of a second to internally say, "Correct". With virtually any other human, there is internal debate and my conclusions range from "Meh" to "WTF!" to "Oh hell no!" and sometimes "Well that sounds nice, but..." Never with Bernie. Love that guy!
