DO NOT USE Stylish! It was great for many years, but has been taken over by scumbags. Use "Stylus" instead. It's open-source like Stylish used to before "SimilarWeb" purchased them.
I've read that Ghostery collects your internet browsing data - so if that is true, they block everyone else from tracking you, but they track you. What about Privacy Badger instead?
Seven Generations Hmm. Any chance of you finding a link to that? I haven’t tried Privacy Badger(yet), at the moment I use DuckDuckGo, I haven’t used google since I caught them altering content and NoScript does seem to do a good job too. Btw, thanks👍🍻
+VUF Berlick - Privacy Badger is made by the non-profit Electronic Frontier Foundation; you can either get it by going to their website: www.eff.org/privacybadger AND/OR for Firefox only, go to: addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?platform=windows&q=privacy+badger
If I may, I would add as an efficient privacy extension/add-on that I use on both Chrome and Firefox is uBlock Origin. Lots of features to tweak to your specific needs and easy on memory also.
0:29 Customize any website with custom user styles. 1:46 Increase your browser privacy, protection, and speed. 3:12 Translate a section of text. 3:53 Give RUclips a cinema type look. 4:32 Make the web faster, more private, and more secure. 5:32 Display the country flag of website’s server location. 6:02 Replace the new tab page with a personal dashboard. 7:01 Easily access the Google services that you use. 7:57 Adds a context menu item to search images. 8:34 A search engine that plants trees.
If you have uBlock Origin you won’t need Ghostery or Disconnect. But that extension is more for advanced users. I also would add Fontface Ninja, Color Picker and Hide to Print to this list.
Momentum is a truly beautiful add-on ! Suddenly discovered it and using it since. Firefox Quantum is blazing in all my four machines ! The devs at Mozilla have developed an entire new language called Rust for rewriting the CSS and man it is amazing ! I think many of the add-ons will not be required in the near or far future. For example, intrusive add-blocking is a built-in feature now. I am really excited about the direction Firefox has taken with this release. I hope that other browsers will catch up soon. Thanks for the video! I use many of the mentioned extensions regularly.
Joking Limit Reached Many thanks for the correct information. The thing is, I wrote that from what I've read from an article. I should have researched more before writing such things on the net. It appears that even many of the trusted sites publish drivel these days. Again, thanks for informing, and I apologize for writing before researching.
i re download versions57.0 it will not automatically let me long into my google youtube yahoo online billing if you do not want to let this happened to you as will this go to options then click on privacy@security and then look for site data then clear all data and it remove it will use more memory if you have only 8 gbs it will use 184 memory .cpu little if you want to see for your self go to your task manager its not any better then Google Chrome ..Google Chrome will use little less then 184 for memory this is only for people that his 8gb of ram you can fine all the info on if when you go to your task manager
Consider using _Stylus_ instead. Stylish sends analytical data back to the owners. This is enabled by default, and disabling it also disables the available style indicator. _Stylus_ uses the same style database but doesn't send any data about your activities. With no reporting function it runs considerably faster and uses less memory.
yeah until firefox decides that all you add ons need to be 'verified' ARE ARE ALL DISABLED AND BUTTON REMOVED (yet were found through the firefox list of add ons....) WTF!!!!!! Suddenly firefox wont let me download even an ADblocker.
:for some there are better alternative, and there are also some very useful extensions dark mode, direct currency converter, S3 translator (which open a small window with translation), notifier for gmail and text marker
Nice review, you left out a video download helper. Since the Quantum update, the old video download helper is unusable. Has anyone had any luck with a replacement video download helper?
HackHunter1835 I'm looking at this now. Reviews = LOTS of "1 star" ratings (some claim it does not work; others complain you must [1] add a second download; [2] Pay $38 afterward to remove huge watermark off videos you record.) Honestly, I just need something that works. If I add the second file and pay the $38 will this work on the pages it says it does?
FF is my favorite. Let me share some cool Add-Ons I use. After that you may say buy-buy to many add-ons. :) Colorful Tabs -colors every tab in a different color and makes them easy to distinguish while beautifying the overall appeal of the interface.
Ghostery got bought by some company years ago and now it's not doing what it was intended for. Actually it's tracking now. Many people don't know this though. I highly recommend noscript or uMatrix instead.
Ad Blocker Plus, Google Hangouts (don't want but need :( .. ), RUclips MP4 Downloader, Lightning Overload Theme. I had more but have been trying to minimalise and some weren't updated.
Great info as usual. In my opion the best blocking add on for Firefox is blurr. it blocks the lot and what's more can see all the details about who exactly is tracking you. Been using it for years. Doesn't work with some version of fire fox but most are ok.One of the best way I think in Firefox to protect privacy is to turn off history, do it see what happens...interesting
Does Ghostery capture my log on information on websites I access? I like the idea of using it but the warning agreement said it would capture data from all sites accessed. I can't use it if it is grabbing my domain log in info
+TechGumbo Awesome, as always... but... I for one like to copy on a .rtf file all Description from your videos, in order to do my own research whenever I feel like doing, regardless if the video was taken out, or if the whole YT is no longer working (knock on wood... ;); but this is now IMPOSSIBLE due to this YT "horrifeature", in which ALL URLs are half-cut i.e., freaking useless. But that's not all. Because if Google/"Analphabet" can do something nasty, they'll do it all the way. Now comes the surprise: if one decides to right-click any of those links below, in a vain attempt to copy them, they will result in a huge, 5-line-links-from-Hell, rendering my notation efforts useless for all Eternity... ;( Please, oh, almighty TechGumbo, send down a solution to our misery... ;) Cheers!
I still use Firefox 56 with addons like: NoScript, NetVideoHunter, Adblock plus and the theme: Lavafox v2 purple. Wonder if they will be available later on Quantum.

which is better, Disconnect or Privacy Badger? I see in comments below that Disconnect is preferred by several posters, but Badger has much better reviews on FF d/l site.
Here's another awesome add-on. If you hate all of the ads and banners you get when watching videos, look for "Adblocker for RUclips". In the add-on options, click on the complimentary option. When you play videos, all ads are stopped. You go straight to the video. I'm never bothered by RUclips ads ever. Another great add-on is the "Restore Old RUclips Theme".
They are great just as many others you can use from the add-ons page, but I - and as far as I know many others - badly miss one that has been taken off some year (or more?) ago: Coolpreviews. That was a very useful little thing and you can not find nor an alternative to it neither something else that someway similar to it. Why they do not bring it back? I'm pretty sure that was a very popular extension.
all the adblocks that used to work do not work anymore, the problems will start - that leads to you have to upgrade or update your (mine is high sierra), after updating adblock ultimate do not work its just there. Thanks for google slepted with illuminati, now i get 5-6 ads in 5 minutes...
Hi, can I ask you which one of the proxy on firefox is the best one to download? There are so many and a lot of them have a good amount of stars but I want to download the one that makes the most sense and is the easiest. Btw, thanks for your video. I'm definitely going to look into ghostery.
Does new Firefox have a feature known as Capture & Print that I can shade and crop area that requires to be printed? That's the reason I have not upgrade my old Firefox because is extremely important to have that feature to avoid wasting on ink but rather laser target the content that really matter the most for me when printing.
click the button to the right on the "Search" box, click bookmarks, click show all bookmarks, click import and backup, or you can just press ctrl+shift+b
does anyone know if stylish has a theme that allows you to watch and search just like on youtube for phones? or is there anything like that that i can add on mozilla firefox?
I using "Google Translator for Firefox" and that is much better than that one in the video! Because I can simply select any text on any website and when I click on it's icon immediately replace the selected text with translated version! ☺👍
Boy do I wish I could find an add-on to move the TabsBar down below the address bar so that it abuts the main view window. I despise Tabs at screen top. Up until FFv57 an add-on allowed this. That add-on is not v57 compatible. Ergo, Tabs at top for me. (I admittedly turned on the Menu Bar, which helps a bit.) FF has been my browser of choice since it launched. Now, I just might jump ship over the Tabs issue. (I've never cared for Chrome in the least.)
Replaying to myself. Since watching this video I've found a way to move tabs where I want 'em. Not by add-on or in-browser controller. It requires creating a configuring a file with the needed instructions and placing it in a certain directory that you may need to create. There are several videos here at RUclips with instructions on how to do this. I only just did so. Can't yet comment on potential downsides, if any.
This may be a silly question, but I use DuckDuckGo. Will these add-ons work for that browser? Also, someone told me to use RUclips Enhancer. Will that work for Duck also?
Honey for Firefox cannot be used. Despite the Firefox add-ons manager saying Honey is enabled, there is no H button anywhere in Firefox it's not on the task bar it's not in the quick-launch bar, it's not in the start menu, it's not by the address/search bar, even typing it into the search for your computer in the start menu doesn't show it. The honey extension it simply doesn't exist to use in Firefox. I removed the add-on from Firefox because no one wants to explain how to get the H to show up somewhere in Firefox.
I loved Firefox and hold for a long time to switch to chrome. I'm happy they up-ed the game. but sadly on actual trial, it have some problem on RUclips, it always fail when I try to switch to full screen mode, and even it succeeded, there is a retarded notification to tell you it's on full screen.
1 Add-On that I found very helpful BUT is unavailable in version 57 is/was All-in-One Sidebar , and IF any other browser uses it or similar I may switch .
Sorry, I checked and it will not be ported. try URL in a Box or Webpage Sidebar which are both limited in features. if you absolutely *MUST* have it: www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/
"S3.Translator" is so much better. It opens the translation of selected text on a pop-up. And for those who want to change background and fonts of webpages to black and white respectability, I recommend "Dark Background and Light Text". For this one, there's a mobile version of it. Unfortunately S3.Translator doesn't.
www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/6amflb/google_translate_this_page_webextension/ Also, you can customize the font color and background via Firefox's options.
Thanks for that! I think I will have to re-listen/watch it about 10 more times and take handwritten notes to fully absorb all the ways Firefox can help me maintain control of my privacy and enjoy a less intrusive internet experience! At least I only had to pause and re-wind once. That was to see the information provided when using one of the add ons which tells you the location of the website one is viewing, something I've often wondered about.
Hi, can I ask you 2 questions. Can you have more than 1 Firefox Adblocker, and is AdsBlocker for Firefox better than Adblock Plus? I have Adblock Plus but for some reason I'm getting ads when I click on a video which I hadn't got for a couple of years at least.
I used to download videos with firefox, this seems to be not possible anymore. Got waterfox instead where this function worked for one day and then disappeared--any idea how I can download videos?
The most important addons are missing... You don't need Disconnect, Ghostery or any other so called privacy-addon, if you have uMatrix or NoScript installed. Plus: Firefox will be much faster than any other browser if you have one of these installed, due to less connections opened.
DO NOT USE Stylish! It was great for many years, but has been taken over by scumbags. Use "Stylus" instead. It's open-source like Stylish used to before "SimilarWeb" purchased them.
Yay thanks for this bro!!

Use Disconnect instead. It's open-source.
uBlock Origin is a pretty good light weight adblocker
TechRage It's *the* adblocker.
And blocks trackers.
I think uBlock Origin & DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials are the ultimate privacy pack.
I also use DuckDuckGo as my search engine.
@@sqrtof81 You dont need DDG Privacy Essentials if you use uBlock Origin

I just installed Font face ninja for quantum and it seems that this extension is not working yet...
It works quite well for me except on the firefox add-ons page.
Color Picker is actually in Firefox.......just for dev users as Eyedropper.
+Devon I use uBlock Origin on Chrome and Firefox. It is the best ad-blocker.
Disconnect filters are built-in to uBlock Origin.
You can add Ghostery filters if you find them,. or just use the Privacy filters.
no uBlock Origin? has Ghostery and Disconnect filters.
no iridium? when it is available as an extension. [github.com/ParticleCore/Iridium/issues/223]
Mario583 no ublock was weird to me but I understand excluding iridium its still in beta and currently doesn't have an extension like you said.

Is there an add-on for controlling youtube volume with your mouse scroll?
I had it on my Google Chrome but I forgot what it was called.
I agree. For translation is better S3.translator
Yeah, I use S3. too and am happy with it. Admittedly, I need to translate only rarely.

Also, you can customize the font color and background via Firefox's options.

Super easy to, thanks a million for all your help
I liked profile switcher but it no longer worker after Firefox update!

Anything with the suffix -y (e.g. Ghostery) is assumed to be intel agency shenanigans.

Firefox ( long ) widget on android on homescrean ........ please how to do it
The most important addons are missing... You don't need Disconnect, Ghostery or any other so called privacy-addon, if you have uMatrix or NoScript installed. Plus: Firefox will be much faster than any other browser if you have one of these installed, due to less connections opened.
