I'm surprised he didn't support the milk death by pointing out how the 9 glasses represent each of his lives, and that Death showing up during that scene could imply Puss was going to drink himself to death
i mean there was also 8 bell dings while he was fighting the giant..... making these things 8 was the cheapest hidden detail they could hide, no wonder other people just didn't want to acknowledge it
Here's an interesting detail: All eight of Puss' deaths were a direct result of his devil-may-care attitude towards death - none of them were from normal occupational hazards for an outlaw adventurer such as himself. Puss never needed extra lives to continue his adventurer career to begin with; he just needed to stop being so reckless (Of course, having a couple of good friends to watch his back couldn't hurt).
Pretty sure Deaths final words in Spanish were "i shouldnt have played with my food" which means he was following him the whole movie for the fun of it.
I'd say he followed Puss because he had to/Puss took his life for granted and should be dead, but he was 'playing with his food' to make it more entertaining for himself (some predators do this too).
Another thing that shows how powerful a Cat’s hearing is: Cats don’t follow you because they don’t need to, they follow you with their ears. Cats love to lay down in what I call “Sound Centers”, basically areas of a house where sound from a majority of the rooms nearby can be easily heard. That why if a cat is starting to get older and is starting to go deaf (as old cats do) they start to meow out of nowhere, they lost track of you and aren’t used to it.
Unless your cat just enjoys your company and doesn’t want you too far away from them because it gives them anxiety. I have a cat with an anxiety problem and he is always stuck to my side like glue. I move, he moves kind of thing. He also likes watching the toilet flush for some reason? It’s kind of weird. Anyway, he’ll follow me everywhere I go, keeping an eye on me the entire time. Like he’s afraid I’m gonna get hurt without his constant supervision.
Puss in Boots 2 was an amazing film. I was blown away with the animation, story, and the fact that there were 3 antagonists that didn't conflict with each other. I really hope we get another film like this from Dreamworks. It seems to be teased that Shrek 5 will happen, so hopefully they carry the momentum into that film
You tell me RUclips he messed up in a way that's made comments older than this 8 minute video? RUclips messed up and now I can't seem to scroll through.
i love that even the villians in this movie were never super annoying or over-powered at all. like yeah, death was a lot stronger than puss at first, but we only saw them fight twice and both times he never actually beat him up in a way that seemed almost unfair. it made it so fun to watch because all of the characters had their funny and quirky moments, i loved this movie a lot!
Death is OP, as he should be . He walked through the wishing star wall without getting hurt while other characters who go through it die. And he was going easy on Puss because wanted to give Puss a chance to learn his lesson while being pursued.
Matpat just made me realize that him having 8 glasses of milk and moving onto his 9th is representing his lives and I have to thank Mat for pointing that out, unintentionally.
A detail I noticed. When Puss in Boots is in the bar after being told to be a lap-cat, we already see he'd finished *eight* shots of milk and is working on his *ninth* before Death shows up, but never finishes it because Death interfered. This parallels his wasting of eight lives, and the likelihood of him finishing his last before his encounter with Death.
Did he really waste eight lives though? I mean, he got to do and live through stuff most people would never get to which makes him more fulfilled then others. It's like ssyaing millionaires aren't really happy because they don't cherish their wealth since thy have so much of it. you can feel that but it's hard to argue against the private island, yachts, and lavish vacations they have access to It's a trope that never made any sense
@@alexanerose4820 It's about accept mortality bro. To accept you will die. The director had a heart attack years ago and thanks to that he remembered his mortality, and he is grateful for that.
It's kinda interesting that Death follows some of the things that Mat already mentioned, like the lack of boots or shoes, uncovering his ears when he gets to fight, and although he still uses clothing that could get attached to something, is way bigger and easily detachable.
the giants bell tolls 7 times during the fight, and tolls an 8th time when it lands on puss. the bell tolled 8 times on his 8th death. also during the fight you can see the wolf hiding in a shadowy doorway watching. its when the crowd is doing the wave.
Little late, but hope they read this theory. Death low key saved everyone. Throughout the movie he has the uncanny ability to appear anywhere, and haunting puss. At any time, he could have gone after Jack Horner. Maybe he sensed the potential death of all magical things in the future and seen an arrogant little legend as the one that could save everyone. He does seem to value life after all, pissed at puss for throwing away so many lives carelessly. He appeared and scared puss into hiding, where goldi and the 3 bears would eventually find him, along with purrito. He was wasting away into food and laziness, death could have came after him at any moment during the Mr pickles part. Instead. He kept agging puss into going for the wishing star. Why? He could get them to stop jack Horner and maybe even strike enough sense into puss to finally value his one last life. He could have let puss wish for more lives but called him out at the cowardice of it. It would have neglected addressing the lack of value puss had for his lives. Now I'm sure death would have no problem dealing and guiding countless into the afterlife, but it makes sense he would value life the most because he sees it, over and over and over again how fragile and fleeting it is. So nudging puss into the wishing star where Jack Horner was going to reach regardless was deaths gamble of saving everyone, or saving no one.
5:08 However, it could’ve easily been Cat Milk. I own two cats, and in our fridge we have small cartons of milk called “Cat Milk” that cats can drink without consequences. The bartender probably just knew he wanted Cat Milk.
It’s honestly the little details that just make me love this movie more, like the slightly different coloured fur on Puss’ head after it healed from being cut by Deaths scythe.
You are spot on with the Mama Luna thing. I once heard, you should have one more litter box than the number of cats you have. For 45 cats, she should have had 46 litter boxes, which would probably overtake the space of her house.
I love the little details like how Puss in the bar had 8 glasses of milk and is on his 9th like with how Puss wasted his first 8 lives and is on his last life and you could also look at it as Puss drinking his life away or I could just be looking into this movie too much
From what ive heard that was on purpose. There’s supposedly a lot of numerology in the movie. The most well known one would be the fact that bell tolls 8 times during the giant fight and the 8th time when it kills puss.
So what I'm hearing with this is that Puss is actually even more awesome because he basically nullified ALL his cat advantages and still outfights basically everyone including Death
Interesting thing of note about that bar scene: ever notice how, every time Puss is in a life-or-death situation that could have killed him, Death would be there in the shadows? The film was subtly inferring Puss was about to lose his last life in that bar. I love this film's visual storytelling so SO much. =^.^=
@@cartoonkeeper As a furry, I cannot confirm nor deny that... Okay, I absolutely can confirm it, and will not deny it, but I've been furry WAY before this film came out, lol! XD
One thing I'd like to add about the Boots point: If he's constantly standing in a puddle of his own sweat in those that's the perfect breeding ground for Trench Foot (or Trench Paws, you could say). An infection where the foot gets gangrenous and essentially rots away like a steak left out in the summer heat. And unless he gets an immediate amputation then that infection spreads via the bloodstream leading to massive multiple organ failure if not a straightup cardiac arrest. So yeah, just another detail to reinforce that point.
I’ll take good character design over how realistic something is any day. Puss is so cool thanks in part to his attire. An extremely recognizable silhouette.
He does it on purpose cuz it looks cool and he’s good enough the handicaps don’t effect him plus he is never afraid or anxious before death so the stuff coinciding with that would be null and void
I feel like they had Death explain that he was Death LITERALLY just because its an animation, and animation GENERALLY are sadly still seen as kids movies. So imagine you're a kid, seeing this movie, and wonder if that's actual DEATH. So Death himself explaining who and what he is is just a nice touch. It reminds me of how they had to have Yoda confirm Vader was Luke's father because they knew it would be comforting to the younger audiences to hear it come from someone on the good side.
It also stops pedantic adults from doing the same thing. There are no words to be minced here, it is a metaphor in a way but at the core it's "just straight. Up. Death."
Yeah, and I've seen at least a few reactors think that he's a character who's a metaphor for death and not Death itself cause "it's a kids movie" until he said it.
4:42 Fun fact:this and other things involving 8 things being empty or bad and the ninth being good is actually symbolizing puss' lives in this case the 8 empty glasses of milk represent the 8 lives he lost and the ninth and only filled glass of milk represent puss' only life left.
Fun fact, puss is obviously based on zorro but he’s also inspired by the Arthurian story of Morgana. A human that was turned into a talking cat by a witch, so puss is actually human
I didn't realize that skip is 12 now which is already older than the average age of a cat. Goes to show how much the theorist family loves and cares for him. I wouldn't be surprised if MatPat would take a break when the big bad wolf comes for skip like he did for puss.
Really? My family has seven cats no longer with us that were 18-19, with the exception of one getting aggressive cancer at 16. Two of our current cats are 17 and other than typical older age stuff the vet is shocked perfect health, and can't belive they're 17!
That is only older than the average age if they're outdoor cats.. Indoor cats live past 12 on the regular, granted they aren't living on a MeowMix diet. There are several ways you can give them *responsible* outdoor time too for anyone concerned about that.
He actually died 16 times Reason: In the trailers for the movie one shows 3 ways he died on way it shows was he got crushed by a sumo wrestler but the second trailer it shows all of the ways he died but it didn’t show the sumo wrestler.Instead it showed he got burned by a oven therefore he died 16 times
The glasses at 4:37 are actually a subtle life counter for puss, he wasted 7 and recently had his eighth. When the wolf shows up, he's on his 9th (and last) life- i mean glass
This is also seen with the bell. If you listen carefully, it rings 7 times during the battle with the giant, and the 8th ring is when it falls on Boots. Man, this movie is so good.
The new Puss in Boots movie went so much harder than it ever needed to. The new style of animation that Dreamworks is doing looks amazing as well. Easily one of the best 2022 movies
Best movie in the last 5 years id say, at least in terms of animated ones. And with how the mouse and company arr producing mediocre thing one after another it seems itll stay thay way for a while even in the future
Beside the 'He's a magical cat!' argument, Puss has spent most of his life(s) in his signature outfit so he has most likely adapted to it considering how well he fights
I love all three villains, from Jack Horner being unapologetically evil and funny, deaths fear striking image, and Goldilocks redemption and her relationship with the bears
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is a perfect example of a sequel done right that exceeds the original in every conceivable way, it had incredible characters, amazing plot, and ridiculously immaculate animation
Another thing my sibling noticed is that Puss’s eyes turn yellow when he’s afraid, something that prominently continues throughout the movie, which is why during the final fight scene with Death, it means more to note that his eyes were green.
He was still afraid, a big part of the movie makes note that it's normal and okay to fear death, because it means you're aware of it and value your life. Maybe the yellow signified his anxiety attacks.
I would love to see a film theory episode that discusses what the likelihood of your toys becoming alive when you aren’t home like in Toy Story because I have a lot of venomous snake replicas and some have gone missing lol
anything about stress isn't exactly gonna be a problem since puss in boots laughs in the face of death especially in his first 8 lives *whistling intesifies* he literally jumped off a building and fought a giant goose *whistling gets louder* so in the movie it does matter since he meets his match tho, also another great thing is how they show a bunch of the problems that you mentioned *whistling gets insanely loud as a cat screams in background*
This is honestly the best animated movie I’ve seen in a LONG time. The visuals, the writing, the character development. This definitely deserves all of the love it gets, let alone being an Oscar Nominee. 10/10 movie 👍
I'm glad MatPat made this episode. It's good to know the hidden dangers with our pets. I will never have a cat. Most cats see me as a scratching post or a litter box. But, I love buns, but so many people think they know how to take care of a buns because of old cartoons that are putting so many buns sick and killed. Same with cats, same with dogs, same with birbs. Can you do a why Buss Bunny will be dead, because WOWIE he eats terribly for a buns.
This movie is an absolute masterpiece. I watched it yesterday, and I just want to watch again. The animation, music and story was very well developed. And it's the best animated film that I have ever seen in my entire life. Well done to all of the actors including Puss in Boots, and Kitty. Just a all-around amazing film. Thankyou DreamWorks
I just realized that if the doctor didn’t tell Puss that he was on his last life, none of this would’ve happened because Puss wouldn’t have been afraid.
well actually, Puss was only afraid after he was struck by Death- when the doctor told him it was time to retire, he was just being his cocky usual self until Death appeared.
I could be wrong, but at least the way I interpreted it, Death wasn't going after puss because he was afraid of death. I mean, he wasn't really afraid until the actual encounter with Death (the character), so when Death initially fought him, he wasn't afraid. Though I suppose he could've been in denial. But I think he was going after him because because of "how" Puss lived his lives. He lived without any true care or regard for his lives. He didn't really appreciate any of his lives, he didn't really hold any respect for his life or death until the very last one. He was arrogant and believed himself to be fearless. Death stopped going after him not because he was no longer afraid, but because he changed his outlook. Remember in the speech that Death had at the end when he left Puss alone, he said that he was going after an arrogant thing who thought he was immortal, but that Puss is no longer like that. Sorta to extend on this. Death complained about the nine lives thing, but I don't think it's the nine lives thing specifically that he has a problem with, I mean all cats presumably have nine lives. It's how having nine lives can potentially make someone approach those lives. It can make them live their lives without truly caring about them like "whatever I have more of them". And Puss cared SO little about it that he didn't even keep a track of how many he had left.
You also see in the movie that besides soft paws and the dog, most animals in the show are just regular animals, so you can easily make the argument about the dress wear and adapting his senses
Not to be that person, but I do not think Meow Mix is the best food to give a cat. Not to say that it is harmful, but it has a few ingredients that would count as fillers, such as corn and soy. Such ingredients are some of the leading causes of allergies in pets. And while your pet most likely will still live a full, healthy life on Meow Mix, more quality pet foods tend to not have those filler ingredients and would thus be less likely to cause allergies and itchy skin in pets. For example, Blue Buffalo, Taste of the Wild, and Eagle Pack are all seen as top-quality foods that do not contain corn, wheat, and soy.
I was looking for this! Especially since dry food in itself isn't the best option for cats either - in the wild cats usually get most of their hydration through food instead of drinking, which means that kibble can easily make them dehydrated. They don't have that natural urge to drink like us humans do. Wet food that's over 80% meat and doesn't include sugar(causes addiction) and empty fillers is the best option for sure!
As a scandinavian i dont know wtf a meow mix blie Buffalant is, all we've got in our grocery stores is Mjau(meow) and some others which dont have corn and is usually dry unless you specifically want wrt food. Side note the vet asked if my mom brushed our soon 4 year old cats teeth cus they were that well maintained.
Nah, it's okay to 'be that person.' You're being polite and giving a much needed contrary perspective to that ad-read. Nothing wrong with this 👍 (also, agreed, the sponsor made me feel a lil weird...😬)
@Not gonna lie Dude, don’t even specify that it’s satirical, I would literally die of laughter if someone posted that under my comment with no context.
My cousin had me check on his cat while he went on vacation. First thing I did was throw out the Meow Mix they were feeding him and bought him some Luvsome. By the time my cousin got home, a skin condition the cat had had for months was cleared up. Not only that, Luvsome was actually cheaper by about $0.30 per bag.
@@sunhatllama perhaps if he'd been feeding him anything other than Meow Mix, I might have asked first. When I saw the bag, I knew the cat would have a rash before I saw the cat.
Banderas is 62. Keep in mind that anthropomorphic cats might live longer stronger lives naturally, lives aside. Or maybe the 9 lives only applies to cats like Puss, not the non-talking ones. It's hard for Puss to think he's "dying" when he feels healthy and fit, with no lingering side effects from his deaths. And since he always comes back as the same Puss, not needing to grow up all over again, he remembers that he survived before. Maybe he doesn't really think he died those times after all. BTW, Puss, it's hardly advanced math to keep a running tally of your lost lives - notches on a stick will do that for you.
@@lacyn9082 my cat is 6 years old basically 32 years old for human but seriously though she seems to have 9 lives cause once she fell horribly from third floor causing her to lose one sharp teeth it was bad memory for me
Death was literally watching him when he died the eighth time when he was fighting the giant. Look into the crowd when puss immediately jumps into the action, death is literally at the top left hooded behind the crowd. He also says in Spanish, “I shouldn’t have played with my food” after losing to puss at the end.
14:01 not to mention the cats keep their mittens ON while using the bathroom which means if they step in any 💩, it'll stick to the mittens and be tracked all throughout the rest of the house, more than likely including the food.
This movie was genuinely a huge surprise to me, and became one of my favourite movies. The scenes that involve death, the whistling, the heartbeat, all absolutely fantastic. I loved this movie!
All I really hear during the clothing section is that puss willingly gave himself a massive handicap and still managed to pull of all those feats. He's the Zaraki of the Dreamworks-verse
For the record, Puss wouldn't have been sweating in fear during fights before this movie because his whole thing was being recklessly fearless and taking things for granted up until he realized he was had his last life. May still be sweating from physical exertion though.
It's a shame about the cape. As a sword fighter, he really should be ditching the cape in battle, instead using it in the off-paw to complement his sword.
I would be really interested if you did a theory on Llamas with Hats, you would be surprised how much lore and stuff about it there is to unpack. I think you would find you could make a good theory about it
Puss in Boots is now the most badass cartoon character ever. He's fought with and won against the physical manifistations of both Death (Lobo) and Fear (Bloodwolf) and won. With these handicaps, that's even more impressive.
Nah, you can't win against Death. Death just saw that he valued life now, and decided that Puss deserved to love his last one. If he wanted to, Puss would be dead.
@@thiago.leal17 But death is just to all, in the end he sticks too his morals which in turn makes death the absolute justice. Desth comes to all no matter who you are
10:25 hate to be a debby downer but the cape is a clip on cape, in the movie, puss talks to the doctor while putting on his clothes and he just clips the cape on, if puss were to get stuck on something, he could just unclip his cape
Theory idea should Krusty the clown really be in prison? In the Simpsons he gambles, he shoots people out of cannons he has faulty products. Just seems like a lot of things to put someone in prison
As it turns out, the sheer profundity of Puss In Boots: The Last Wish has moved me past the point of no return. In sincerity, I must admit I had tempered my expectations for this film. We do, after all, live in an age of creative and artistic bankruptcy, the time of cash grabs and assembly-line sequels galore. In spite of this, I can say with confidence that Puss In Boots: The Last Wish is, for lack of a more eloquent term, a perfect film. The script is wholly original, the performances are passionately acted and the animation is fluid as ever. With these factors among others, DreamWorks was able to create a truly profound and surprisingly poignant epic in Puss In Boots: The Last Wish.
Jack Horner is such a good villain. A lot of villains recently are evil for a somewhat decent reason and then they most likely turn good at the end but Jack is just evil to be evil.
I'm glad it's a pure villian for villain sakes. This "the villian is a antihero" or "actually the hero is the villian" or my favorite "the villian actually had good points/villain was right" is exhausting and I borderline almost want it for them in real life because they go so hard for it. I miss the mustache twirling villain, I want the bad guy so evil he has to be put down. I love Jack Horner
The cape one seemed the most off, since in the clip he showed that someone could grab the cape the cape ripped off and did in fact not strangle him to death
You forgot to mention the fact that death mentioned how he was always there when puss in boots died in the scene where they were in the cave of souls, and if puss did die more then 8 times then it probably explains the words “what’s the matter puss? lives flashing before your eyes”.
Unrelated to the theory, but the fact that The Last Wish is so great actually makes sense. I met both of the directors during a Q&A a few weeks ago. From what everyone can see, they’re such good friends and have close relationships with everyone on the cast. They actually started as storyboard artists themselves, then worked their way up until they got to where they are now. They know what it’s like in every position, so they know how to treat their staff and know what the audience loves. We need more movies like this.
9:35, Mat repeats himself, looks two takes with some of the script in a slightly different order were edited separately but spliced together and no-one caught that they had a not so perfect segue between cuts. Or maybe I'm wrong, I'm just working off of my editors brain.
6:18 Someone should make a compilation of all of the times MatPat became jealous because of a company not wanting to include him in promotional material!
Something else to notice about death, while yes resembling the grim reaper more, and since both use farming tools, sickles also were a really big resemblance in Egypt, and mostly on pharaoh's. Khopesh is one that actually used them most. However that's besides my point, one of the usual positions that pharaohs were laid down in after death was with their arms crossed, or at least as they were resembled on the front of their coffin, and a few of them were laid down holding a sickle. In one of the scenes death holds both sickles with his arms crossed and his head looks a bit thinner and his ears perk up a bit more, sort of resembling Anubis, holding two sickles in a position that was resembled on quite a few pharaoh's coffins after they died. Later in the movie, he also combines them and turns them into a staff, said staff could actually resemble Anubis's staff that had sickle like looking ends. I'm not saying death is Anubis, but hey, he more resembles the grim reaper more if anything so yeah.
I like to think that all the “wardrobe nerfs” as I call them, that puss uses are intentional because “puss in boots laughs in the face of death” and, about the hat thing, it does heavily impact his sensory by blocking his face whiskers, but, cats also have whiskers in the chin and front paws so it does make it harder for him to sense things but not enough to cause his death
This is one of the few times I've actually stuck around for a sponsor. I have had pets nearly my entire life. And most of those pets were cats. Unfortunately, my parents live in two separate households, and my mom is not a responsible pet owner, so we've never actually lost a pet in a natural way at her house. But at my much more responsible father's house, we had a male cat named Meatball since I was 4 years old. And when I was 8 we adopted two others, females named Crybaby and Dina. Unfortunately, Meatball passed away when he was 12 years old. And only a year later, Crybaby got an infection in her uterus that we couldn't afford to treat. Since Dina was now the only cat for the first time in her life, she quickly became territorial and began attacking us, so we had to get rid of her. By the time they were all gone, I was 2 months away from turning 16, and my dad baught me pet mice for my birthday to replace the love I felt for my cats. The mice didn't last a full year. I've been without pets for nearly two years now and I get extremely depressed whenever I think about it. I've never not had pets before, and I don't have anything I can give that love to anymore. My friend's cat recently gave birth, and I'm hoping to get one of their kittens, but it's not set in stone. Here's hoping little Hastur can join my family soon
Mice and rats are such hard pets, emotionally. They're amazing, but their lives are just so devastatingly short. I've had 3 rats and after the last one passed I needed a break. As for the kittens, if it's possible I'd recommend taking two. It helps with the separation and stress of a new place, plus they pretty much have a built in playmate for when you're busy or not around. Also, I'm not sure if you live where spay/neuter is routine, but if you are I would suggest getting that done with the new baby/babies at 5-6 months. Pyometras are nasty business and I'm sorry to hear you lost your cat to one. It also sounds like Dina may have been grieving along with you guys. You've had a rough go, but I wish you the best with any future critters!
Freaking out right now over the fever dream that is Peepy and the company item label, would be super excited if you guys made a video on them because there is definitely some lore waiting to be uncovered there.
I know you love to take things way too seriously, but seriously, don't ignore the fact that there are normal cats in the movie, and Puss is a MAGICAL one. He literally has different anatomy and range of motions.
Honestly, I mean this is a world where whatever you wish for can come true from a random star, or the fact a talking donkey can rizz up a dragon enough to have hybrid babies. Not to mention the magical spells that can be casted, or the fact some midget can change quite literally everything just by signing his contract
If you guys noticed, every villains of this movie represent something valuable: Goldilocks and 3 Bears representing family Jack Horner representing greediness Death representing how to appreciate lives
I think the more interesting way to look at it is how they are all typical villains but wildly different types. Goldilock and the Bears are affable and sympathetic villains like you see more and more in modern animation, Death is not so much a villain as a force of nature brilliantly embodied via horror slasher tropes, and Jack Horner is pure dastardly mustache-twirling Wario-meets-Skeletor cartoon villainy.
@@Geode_Potential So we can give them the benefit of the doubt that there is a walking talking singing cat that can fight things 20x times his size, but not that he can drink milk and not die? 😂

It's kinda interesting that Death follows some of the things that Mat already mentioned, like the lack of boots or shoes, uncovering his ears when he gets to fight, and although he still uses clothing that could get attached to something, is way bigger and easily detachable.
you can argue his giant cloak is for stealth, something you can't give this cat.
Eight drinks and a ninth one he's drinking, telling the bartender to "Make it your heaviest"

the giants bell tolls 7 times during the fight, and tolls an 8th time when it lands on puss.
the bell tolled 8 times on his 8th death. also during the fight you can see the wolf hiding in a shadowy doorway watching. its when the crowd is doing the wave.
The heaviest is in the back...
These small details are incredible

It’s a sickle
You are spot on with the Mama Luna thing. I once heard, you should have one more litter box than the number of cats you have. For 45 cats, she should have had 46 litter boxes, which would probably overtake the space of her house.
I love the little details like how Puss in the bar had 8 glasses of milk and is on his 9th like with how Puss wasted his first 8 lives and is on his last life and you could also look at it as Puss drinking his life away or I could just be looking into this movie too much
I SAID THE SAME THING WHEN MATPAT POINTED IT OUT
From what ive heard that was on purpose. There’s supposedly a lot of numerology in the movie. The most well known one would be the fact that bell tolls 8 times during the giant fight and the 8th time when it kills puss.
And the final call for leche at the bar was also 8 rings with Death appearing on the final ring
So what I'm hearing with this is that Puss is actually even more awesome because he basically nullified ALL his cat advantages and still outfights basically everyone including Death
What can he say, he wanted to challenge himself
Interesting thing of note about that bar scene: ever notice how, every time Puss is in a life-or-death situation that could have killed him, Death would be there in the shadows? The film was subtly inferring Puss was about to lose his last life in that bar. I love this film's visual storytelling so SO much. =^.^=

And here we have someone who unironically believes this was a video about realism in a cartoon movie.

@@ethandile7668 I mean, bringing fantastical movie situations and tearing them down with the hard light of reality is a MatPat staple.
At least the tone they delivered it is so metal that it's bone-chilling

I didn't realize that skip is 12 now which is already older than the average age of a cat. Goes to show how much the theorist family loves and cares for him. I wouldn't be surprised if MatPat would take a break when the big bad wolf comes for skip like he did for puss.
yup, thought the average age of death for a cat is 13yo for males and 15yo for females :)
He actually died 16 times
Reason:
In the trailers for the movie one shows 3 ways he died on way it shows was he got crushed by a sumo wrestler but the second trailer it shows all of the ways he died but it didn’t show the sumo wrestler.Instead it showed he got burned by a oven therefore he died 16 times

I just realized that if the doctor didn’t tell Puss that he was on his last life, none of this would’ve happened because Puss wouldn’t have been afraid.
Well death would still come after him
I think he knew but he was on denial
well actually, Puss was only afraid after he was struck by Death- when the doctor told him it was time to retire, he was just being his cocky usual self until Death appeared.
Yeah, I did a lot of digging on finding good cat food. Definitely avoid anything with cheap fillers (wheat, corn, soy).

In spite of this, I can say with confidence that Puss In Boots: The Last Wish is, for lack of a more eloquent term, a perfect film. the clothing ones were a big stretch for sure, especially since he counted them as 3 separate ones instead of one death for wearing clothes

0:40 You missed an opportunity to edit the movie's cover in place of the bell and have that hit the giant's face.

I hope that you are able to get a pet to love and care for

You've had a rough go, but I wish you the best with any future critters!
what do you mean get rid of dina?
@@Dingooose My dad put her in a carrier and left her at a shelter
Freaking out right now over the fever dream that is Peepy and the company item label, would be super excited if you guys made a video on them because there is definitely some lore waiting to be uncovered there.
OMG PLEASE
I know you love to take things way too seriously, but seriously, don't ignore the fact that there are normal cats in the movie, and Puss is a MAGICAL one.
He literally has different anatomy and range of motions.
you're on Film Theory dude 😅 Matpat even addresses it in the beginning of the vid
@@chau8122 You mean doing his usual of ignoring stated fact in favor of his own confirmation bias?
@@TimedRevolver it's just a theory.. a film theory!
Honestly, I mean this is a world where whatever you wish for can come true from a random star, or the fact a talking donkey can rizz up a dragon enough to have hybrid babies. Not to mention the magical spells that can be casted, or the fact some midget can change quite literally everything just by signing his contract
@@danielmancilla1071 donkey has mythical pull game
10:45 I literally was thinking abt Edna mode when matt started talking abt puss’s cape so I’m glad he made the reference 😂
6:10 at this point, he seems to be actively TRYING to keep MatPat off the show
Ok, the reply below me is a scam, don't click on it please
Lol
If you guys noticed, every villains of this movie represent something valuable:
Goldilocks and 3 Bears representing family
Jack Horner representing greediness
Death representing how to appreciate lives
I think the more interesting way to look at it is how they are all typical villains but wildly different types.
Goldilock and the Bears are affable and sympathetic villains like you see more and more in modern animation, Death is not so much a villain as a force of nature brilliantly embodied via horror slasher tropes, and Jack Horner is pure dastardly mustache-twirling Wario-meets-Skeletor cartoon villainy.
This cat can talk and is bipedal, and is evidently different from other cats throughout the movies. Can't we give Dreamworks the benefit of the doubt?
No
@@Geode_Potential So we can give them the benefit of the doubt that there is a walking talking singing cat that can fight things 20x times his size, but not that he can drink milk and not die? 😂
