What even is this game anymore? Been here since day one and I'm still baffled by Hello Games' dedication to continue to improve this game year after year, with zero microtransactions or paid expansions.
It's an awesome developers simulator
Its some introvert developer's ever evolving awesome dream lol
I play this game since day 1 and i don't have the words to describe how hard they pushed themselfs to make those updates, its crazy
Unbelievable. At this point, I would gladly pay them for the content. They definitely deserve that.
I guess the main factor is that because hello games is self publishing company and not being tied by a publisher
Every update looks better than the last, I love this game
Im so excited
I have it since launch day and it has been quite a journey ... I never expected such a spectacular comeback from them.
I love it !
Bought it yesterday on Steam. Played it so far loving it! Boom and today having a massive update. Truly remarkable
@@leet2888 indeed! Thing is they haven't even hinted they will be stopping with the support for this game.
I wonder if they're working on another game like this.
RIGHT?! Every update is amazing! I wonder how is it even possible. It's like they love what they do lol
It's only been a mere two months ago when I've bought this game, gawk at everything I can see and do, and still wished that there are procedurally-generated towns I can swing by and explore in the galaxies. Today, here I am, wondering if the devs employed a psychic in their ranks.
I love you, Hello Games.
I bought it 2 months ago too. Love it!
I bought this game 4 years ago, and haven't regretted it. It's changed immensely through the years, it literally feels like a new game. I remember starting out and every planet had plutonium crystals(which oddly enough, are now condensed carbon lol) that you used as fuel, and you could only build bases at set points(which you had to find on each planet...)
Now you can build entire settlements... This game has evolved so much, the updates are all stuff any other company would sell as DLC lol, Hello Games is amazing.
@@amgames5638 I remember when we couldn’t even build bases
@@daydsly Yeah, apparently the first patch post release was base building. I started about a year after release, so I didn't get to experience the apparently terrible launch lol
@@amgames5638 I picked up the limited edition at launch, forced myself to play as much as possible for the price. Just 10 hours in the muddy visuals, empty planets, and lack of variety were enough to make you feel sick.
You guys are really that amazing.

The game is awesome I put 200 hours into it, I love it, after this update I can't make it 20 minutes in-game before it crashes
Xbox 1.
I really wish they would give us the ability to adjust the graphics ourselves depending on how our consoles are working.
It's actually insane how much you keep updating this game. The entire gaming industry could learn from you guys
they resell the game at every expansion for 25$ to new players, and keep it updated for the fanbase for free. Really an interesting vision and they are earning a lot of money I heard. This completely destroys those pay to win games and the studios behind that sick logic.
Sean Murray sold his house to fund this game, he has given everything to keep it alive.
@@babbonatale276 not exactly. There are a few key points to why this works.
1. Hello games is privately owned.
2. Sean didn't blow the money he made from the initial release
3. They managed their funds with long term goals
4. They have no PR/exec/marketing/etc over their shoulder to boost sales
They are here for passion, and are allowed to express it, because they have some one managing their funds without being greedy. In reality, their probably not making 1/10th of what they could possibly have made or be making. That doesn't stop them though, because to quote an historian "they were the good guys".
@@yummychips_ I totally agree
They have more than redeemed themselves.
They made a mistake... And it took some time, but this game has become more than what any of us could have imagined.
I hope the development team is proud of what they accomplished.
amazing job guys, as always!
The most boring update. Why is construction so long?
Where to buy diamonds, what to speed up construction?
Well, all these changes have caused so many more glitches and things that urgently need fixing, I can't go through doors on my freighter, my expeditions are stuck etc
Well, not always
This game is so upgraded compared to when it came out. Love that they are still putting work to make it better.
always like with the amazing launch
Well this video I'm currently finishing up just got a whole lot more complicated. I'm already completely shocked by how far No Man's Sky has come in the five years since its release (consider me a legitimate fan now) but this looks completely next level. Holy moly!
Please include the man who modded seans face into the game every day until the update released from the subreddit
Yes please include Sean head modder
God damn, every update I must read comments like that. I know that developers do good job, but pls ... stop each time writing the same comments "OHH IM SHOCKED HOW NMS ALREADY LOOKS....." xD
Love your stuff. Looking forward to this video.
wait...did the update drop already?
You guys are really building a living universe, one procedural generated atom at a time, well done Hello Games and see you in-game interlopers
I wish more games where procedurally generated, really adds that uniqueness factor to your gameplay.
Well, one "Pixel" at a time. Atoms don't exist in the digital world lol
@@provisionalhypothesis You have to design the algorithm so it spits out something that makes sense. The complexity of the universe comes arises from relatively simple mathematical rules. Obviously, more elegant rules than those of a game, but the point stands.
@@provisionalhypothesis Not to mention just about every planet is the same regardless that its procedurally generated.
Not once have i landed on a planet only to not find the same bird that was on the other 200+ planets i've been to, but just a different colour.
They have like 5-10 presets for everything and it just cycles through them so they always end up being the same crap on a different planet.
If anything its really lazy, the only thing it adds to the game is trying to find a planet that doesnt look like ass and have mutated retards running around on it.
nice pfp
Looks amazing !
To me, the biggest improvement that could be made to the game is adding more variety to the planets. They definitely look better than what they used to but you only get one biome, one theme.
Like on planet earth you'd get forests, deserts, mountains, seas...etc, lots of different landscapes. Though we have variety in flora and fauna, you need to go to another planet to see something different in terms of landscape. I think that'd make discovering planets and exploring them a lot more engaging.
YESSSSS
I can not even believe the love they give their player base. Literally adding a new facet to explore in the game every expansion, not even just ugrading the old, but actual *new* content that they only continue to build on. How every game should be :,)
Oh wow this looks fantastic. I’m blown away by the nonstop hard work gone into this.

This is enough proof to say that they love their own games.
Do you have any proof of this?
@JimmyMontoya ... Sony dropped them after the original awful launch. That is why this is on Game Pass and Xbox One as well. Hell Sony is literally what made this game a dumpster fire to begin with and since they've gotten away from them they've been able to take their time and make this game exactly what they wanted it to be and more.
@JimmyMontoya please don't speak anymore.. sincerely everyone
I really hope for at least one major update that will make space more interesting and fun to explore, with actual sides to choose in space battles, being able to control your freighter, being able to build a base in the orbit of a planet (like the ISS) that will actually move around the planet to at least give us the feeling as if the planet would be rotating. Imagine being able to control a huge laser beam coming from your space station! Also bases on asteroids and so on and so on. Space needs to get a lot more interesting.
This was exactly one of the things I kept saying was missing in this game: alien settlements in planets with quests and stuff.
You guys really are doing a great job with this game. I can honestly say that at this point in time, NMS is the best space exploration game available.
And if new updates continue to come out like this, it will be hard for any other game to take its place.
We said this since launch. Great to see them focus back on us explorer core the last year or so.
May i ask a question? whats main objective in this game? like is there missions or its just exploring?

Oh no... not again...
To the team: Thank you for the continuous support and development, your game has evolved a great deal, looks great
The game is missing two things in my opinion to be the perfect game for me:
1: Please do a cosmetic update so we can further customize our traveler.
2: Just a combat update, add more enemies to fight throughout the cosmos because these tiny alien monsters in those derelict ships aren't that threatening, and the sentinels need more varieties.
God a combat update including a total ship overhaul especially with the flight mechanics... would be fucking amazing.
Sweet jesus, can you imagine if THIS game came out 5 years ago? Just incredible work from Hello games. Now I wanna become the major of a bustling town in the center of the galaxy, that sounds too good
I mean. It did? And it was amazing. Only reasons updates took so long was cause of trolls and death threats.
@@larryowens253 That's not that impactful toward development time, in reality updates take a while because programming in general does and I imagine having as crude of a codebase as release NMS likely had due to being rushed would make it significantly harder to fix initially.
@@larryowens253 not really, this game is light years ahead of where it was at launch, functionally and mechanically. The og game was fun seems like a demo compared to what it is now.
@@larryowens253 the only reason the updates HAPPENED in the first place was because of the "trolls" and death threats. Now go download the retail v1.0 of the game an go figure why you are the troll here.
@@larryowens253 You can't post a picture of your cat without getting a death threat, it's not a valid argument for anything nowadays.
This has evolved to be one of the greatest most indepth and content rich games ever. It’s insane. Well done Sean, you keep killing it
Don't exagerate, everything revolves around the same things, namely earning units, this is like frigate fleets but on planets. It's not indepth. Desolate freighters are the only slightly more indepth feature in NMS
@@d00mnoodle62 hmm .. earning units is the least thing this game revolves around actually. You can be insanely rich after 10-20 hours, IF nobody dropped a couple of trade items worth a billions when you visited the anomaly.
Earning Units is really not the goal or main attraction ... by far.
@@danielsantos6437 I have around 500 hours in game. My current permadeath save is 304 hours old (I died at 370 hours, so I had to go back to a previously archived save and lost around 100 hours of gameplay. so ... semi-cheating permadath). Believe it or not (and I know you won't) but I still find creatures, flora or just generally vistas I hadn't seen before (and which look different enough that I notice). The game loops were, so far, QS/station missions (including pirate and sentinel missions ... so combat), building bases (and I don't even talk about hte Creative Mode insanities ... I just love building semi-realistic bases on interesting planets), reading the logs of the frigates (not always, but it's fun from time to time) and from derelicts, farming, crafting expensive trade goods, finding and taming pets, finding and outfitting your freighter, learning the languages, of course finishing the main quests and ... yes .. just plain exploring and taking screenshots in photomode (which, btw. are also part of some missions). All of that is organically linked. It doesn't feel like jumping from one mini-game to another.
The expeditions added a nice "mini-campaign" mode, with (some) rewards transfering to other savegames, so ... that's another loop right there ... though this one requires you to actively switch.
Now, with this update, it looks like you get a mini-city building and management mode. From what I saw in the 5 minutes I spent in my settlement, the NPCs are named and (hopefully) persistent ... so that adds a couple of extra things to do.
That is indeed the game with the most independant (but, importantly, *linked*) gameplay loops I know of .. and I've been gaming since 1981. (okay.. probably a couple of years more, if you count pong and some early arcade machines)
Also, I honestly think it's brillant. NOT Perfect, there is always stuff that could be added or perfected (the flight mode is actually quite okay in VR, as you notice your speed and are also using (virtual) HOTAS instead of m/kb. In Flat it just looks like you're stationary and that detracts from the fight), but definitely a work of art.
_Dwarf Fortress would like to know your location_
@@bennemann point taken. I never really got into DF somehow. Everytime I started playing I just got overwhelmed.
Ugghhh, I feel like this needs to be a massive mmo. Maybe that's where it's headed. An unlimited universe with different main hubs of activity and a robust player economy. Could be epic. Add some sort of play to earn mechanic and I'd just live there.
It's going to turn into Star Citizen before star citizen does.
@@stevelamb9453 Do you know what a full stop is?
Maybe far apart. Buy after getting all the portal symbols it should be easy to navigate to a hub.
Considering their dedication to keep updating the game, they will likely fulfill all of their promises eventually. So it will almost certainly become an mmo, anyone who disagrees doesn't understand the massive improvements this game has had since release.
@@stevelamb9453 they haven't made any paid DLC, and they likely won't make a second game when they can just keep building on the game until they fulfill every promise. The game they described 5 years ago was a perfect game, so there's no need for a sequel. Also, they promised a giant scale universe where players could meet each other but it would be very difficult. There will obviously be single player or party play modes just like there are now, but I'm sure many people will play the MMO version so there's simply no reason to worry about it.
There's always something in these new updates that makes me go 'WHOA NO WAY' every time.
Holy crap, this is kind of hilarious. I had built my base around an outpost and pretended it was a settlement I ruled over. Now you can do it for real and it looks AWESOME!!!
You'll never find a more wholesome band of travellers and adventurers than in a No Man's Sky update.
I hate this game ever since the expeditions update. I was helping a bunch of NEW players and they ended the event 2 weeks earlier than originally announced. It was also soooo buggy that me and my multiplayer group couldn't buy freighters to even complete the expedition. I'm even an atlas pass lv4 owner and ever since then I've hated the game because they lied about the duration and nothing was exclusive in game until that point. My friends and I no longer play because of these issues and to say it ended in 2 months but end it after a month and a half was a terrible idea for an event that was so buggy. Expeditions also ruins the game for new players as they have a linear path they have to take that's nothing like the real game and ruins your first time with the game. I know I can just skip it but I was a collector who collected everything in the game, fuck these new games with limited time events, I'll always be a classic gamer as they don't sell you unfinished games and make content unavailable to you later on.

I respectfully disagree. I think they went beyond what they promised a long time ago. Since then they've added 2-3 more games worth of content into it.
@@AndreyKrichevsky I agree that at this point no man sky has long surpassed the promises of the original game

I’ve owned this game from when it originally came out, and I can say that I actually liked it when it first came out myself, however, after all these updates the game has only become even greater of an experience, I hope that one day other game companies learn from Hello Games
I think other companies have already started ripping off their idea. I’ve been seeing a lot of open universe exploration type game ads lately.
I'm also a day one player, it's certainly a different beast to what it was back then! And I've still never reached the core! I'd still like more jeopardy though, e.g. better fuel management with the danger of running out or something like that, maybe with the ability to skim asteroids / suns for fuel or something instead of how it is now.
