Thanks a lot ! My dream was train wrestling, but the country where I grew up it was only on specific places you could find, so I started training bjj and it was very inate learning this kind of moves. Loving watching your videos.
hmm, so on the bottom would it be possible to avoid the ankle pick by stepping up with the other leg? Maybe it would force them to give up the chin strap. What do you think? Was stepping up on that side a technical mistake?
I wouldn’t say the step up was a complete mistake, but I would say he stepped up very deep/too deep to the point where Damien could reach his ankle easy. It’s a hard situation to be in because like you said, stepping up with the other leg could avoid it but easier said than done when someone is pulling your head and arm forward hard and your body starts to shift towards the side they have your arm. If you step up with the opposite leg it would eliminate them picking it (unless they switch sides) but it might stretch you out further or off-balance you if their pulling you the opposite way and you literally need to post to re-balance. You’re eventually going to have to either get hands to the mat, raise your butt, get on toes and start circling out, or stepping up (not too big) on either side and working a drag or peeling hands, etc.Very situational. Lots of options.
@@themerge.online Fair enough, I was just curious how you would handle being on the defensive in that situation. It's a tough spot to be in, and I'm sure we've all found ourselves there from time to time. Anyway, thanks.
If their head is that close to their leg and you are wrestling (like an actual wrestling match - freestyle/folkstyle etc) then that is an option. For BJJ, using a cradle would not be that useful especially against more advanced guard players that can invert.
will definitely add this to my front headlock game
Thanks a lot !

I personally would go for a cradle if they brought their leg so close, but this is definitely a cool thing to add to my front headlock game. Thanks!
isnt it better to do cradle if the opponent post their leg like this?

If your arms are long enough yeah you can 😂
