Drunk as a skunk yet never missed a beat, top tier performance. Thanks for the reaction
I can assure you. Jimmy had probably drank 2 bottles of Vodka🍹🍹That was his go to refreshment back in the day. I did security for the band and that was a prerequisite of supply. Nowadays it's Green Tea🍵🍵. Ah we all get older.
not to mention the countless beers (you even see him with a VB in the video) also the other consumables that went into his system
Barnsey was carrying around a dirty VB tinnie 😂
Jimmy said Drambuie and Scotch was his drínks of choice
I'm a camera op. The man is straight as a die now, and very, very ummm... correct? Exacting? Very nice though.
Chisel always played this as an encore at the end of their shows. By this stage Jimmy was plastered but still never missed a beat
The last time I went to see Cold Chisel was 32 years ago, on my wedding day. We left our reception early and went to the show. I was still in my wedding dress. We didn't have tickets but the bouncers let us in and we partied all night with the band. Best wedding night ever!
I'm 53, this is the best Chisel story I've heard!
Oh wow! What a way to end a wedding and such an awesome memory. Thanks for sharing it with us 😊❤️
Can't be true, 32 years ago was the year 1991. Chisel were in hiatus for the years from December 1983 (this performance) until 1998.
@CLMAC Cold Chisel broke up and reformed a number of times during those years. We saw them at Krystals in Bundaberg on 28 September 1991.
That's so cool. Now that's how you have a wedding. Good on you 👍
That is just one of many examples of why many Aussies rate the Chisels higher than even AC/DC but sadly they never got the recognition they deserved oversees
They did go to America but the record executives wanted them to do things their way but CC told them to go jump when they come back home Jimmy wrote the song you got nothing I want as a middle finger gesture towards them
Bloody well said.
@@UptoneGirl thanks :)
😂' C"mon Mossy get up"😂😂😂😂... Classic....proud to be an Aussie .
So funny when Jimmy said to mossey, 'get up(! "
You mentioned AC/DC on your John Farnham reaction the other day. But Cold Chisel really is Australia’s favourite rock band! America didn’t want them so they said up yours and have continued to rock us out with rock, soul, blues since the late 70’s. Jimmy Barnes also has a very successful solo career and is still going today in his 60’s. Phenomenal voice. As you said pitch perfect and with vibrato. Few in the world can pull off what this man can do. He’s in the top 5 of so many overseas reactors now! Better late than never !
And the funny thing is that after bashing a roadie Jimmy left Chisel for a few months to replace Bon Scott as lead singer of Fraternity after Bon left to join AC/DC.
👍
Well actually, American producers did want them, but because they weren't willing to change things and kowtow to them AND falsely advertised them as a heavy metal band, disappointing the punters, they got dropped. Hence the song you got nothing I want.
@@barbararees604 yep this is indeed what I meant- American producers didn’t want them as they were!
@@Dr_KAP Sorry, yes, their loss.
Can you see why people LOVE Chisel and Jimmy Barnes yet? 😄 That's got to be one of the best all time live performances right?
No doubting Jimmy's a Rock Star. But how about that Ian Moss
..doesn't miss a beat even with Jimmy dragging down to the ground. And did you notice him picking up and replicating every scream from the audience. Pitch perfectly.
😂
And that is why Chisel are so legendary here. This still blows me away.
The smiles on your faces say it all. That's rock and roll. Loved this guys. Can't wait for the next one
You don't get more rock and roll than this
You should just watch the whole Last Stand concert video. It gives you a great appreciation of how this band has no bad songs and never produced a bad performance, and Jimmy was never sober during this period, yet the band was just so tight.
Cold chisel always made it a party at their shows. So glad to have seen them live back in the day.
Pitch perfect and drunk, 😅 Aussie style...perfected by Chisel
100% 👍
Jimmy Barnes and Ian Moss duetted so well together with their voices. But here Barnes is dusting with Moss’s guitar, and it’s just so brilliant, driving, sexy and nuanced.
No alcohol was harmed in the performance of that song.
😆👍
We love our chisels and the boys always gave their best one of Aussies best. ✌️🇦🇺
I haven't laughed this hard in ages 😀great stuff Jimmy was on fire
They don't make them like that any more...Chisel at the peak of their powers.
Brings back memories their concerts were always like this!! Ian Moss (Mossy) was Jimmy's right hand man but Ian could sing as well. Great band to see in concert. Perfect
Cold Chisel were, and still are, THE BEST LIVE BAND EVER in my opinion. Seen them many times over the years and they continuously produce the goods. Frickin awesome, and great reaction guys👍🏼👍🏼
There is no justice in the world where Jimmy Barnes does not make the list of the top rock singers of all time, Ian Moss does not make list of greatest rock guitarist and Cold Chisel is not listed as one of the greatest rock bands.
They have been robbed!!! People are discovering them now though! 😊
sad but true FACTS right there
When Gary Moore cant event crack top 15 Guitarist in the world explains why. Never seen a bad Jimmy concert, seen 23 of them. Americans think all there artist are the best, makes no logic.
Love this reaction. There is so much more to discover with Cold Chisel and Jimmy Barnes
I went to that concert, it was the Last Stand at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. I think they played six nights in a row.
Back when Jimmy was wild and got through a couple of bottles of Vodka during a concert. He's like a good wine and still singing better than ever. Love ya Jimmy.💕
What a performance! Great reaction to a band I love. You my friends are the epitome of UPNESS!
This is an epic performance
I last saw Jimmy on stage in Sydney 20 years ago. He was completely hammered and the show was amazing! We were so freaking lucky to be around the pubs and clubs scene that we had back in the day. Great reaction - glad you guys enjoyed it so much. And yes props to the crew - they never knew what he was going to do from one minute to the next😂
Got to love Cold Chisel with Barnsey and Mossy. Jimmy is my favourite artist ever. However there is no slack artist in this band, and they all contributed and wrote songs. Cheers and rest in peace to the drummer Steve Prestwich, piano player Don Walker, Phil Small bass guitarist, Ian Moss (Mossy) who is one of the great guitarist in Australia and he has a beautiful singing voice too, and then, of course Jimmy Barnes, the legend vocalist in this song. He's been singing since he was a teenager, firstly in a band called Fraternity after Bon Scott of ACDC fame left and he joined a band by the name of Orange, who then became the legendary Cold Chisel. And he has had 30 more years as a solo artist.
All I can say is that it really looked like you genuinely loved this performance. Great reaction.
Cold Chisel are unequivocally the best live band of the century. Jimmy Barnes vocals were complete powerhouse that commanded your attention and respect.
He’s 67 now same age as me and still rocks the shit out of it
Saw Chisel on the Last Stand Tour 83, I was 14 or 15.... I was a fan for life
Cold Chisel always left everything on the stage. Even when Barnsey and Mossy were arguing they played for the crowd. At the half way mark when Jimmy was fired up the Stage Hands earned there pay.
They were were a fantastic stage act.
Should have a look at their version of Knockin on Heavens Door!
I love it when people discover the awesomeness of Chisels. I was lucky enough to get to see them heaps playing pubs back in the day. Barnesy hammered and going off like a firecracker is a beautiful thing. I met my first love in the front row when Jimmy shared a bottle with us. 😍
I was at one of these Last Stand concerts. 1982 ?? My favourite band in my teens. Cold Chisels last concerts. Wild Thing was the last song from memory. Was fantastic.
Jimmy now says the realisation that someone was trying to kill him was followed by an understanding that it was him doing it to himself. Yeppa, wild thing indeed 🇭🇲
Hey Saffa cousins. Hoe gaan dit? I am 61 and was lucky enough to have seen great bands like this (Cold Chisel were the kings) back when pub bands were everywhere in Australia through late "70s "80s &"90s. Friday and Saturday nights were wild! Jimmy Barnes on stage was the wild ma that epitomised the time and Aussie music started getting noticed around the world. I'm sure you guys had music venues (pubs mostly) with sticky carpet from all the beer spilt and a smoke haze that smelt a lot like dope. Loved your comments and wish you well.
Check out the Angels “Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again” concert/explicit version. The crowds reply will knock your socks off!! 😂
Omg can’t believe I didn’t get the notification for this! Thankyou for doing this so glad you loved it! Tis was their farewell tour and they closed the show with this. Takes me back to my youth when chisel were the wild legends of Aus Rock. Back then Jimmy would polish off a bottle of whiskey and a bottle of drambuie at a gig. Thankfully he straightens out and cut the drinking and is still going strong today❤ Cracks me up how Mossey doesn’t miss a note when Jimmy pulls him to the floor what a pro! Loved your reaction brought a much needed smile to my face.😂❤
Cold Chisel was a legendary live band. I was too young to see them; had to be content with the radio! They still play together sometimes. Singer Jimmy Barnes had a terrible childhood and abused alcohol & drugs for many years (his performance in this clip was probably whiskey-soaked!) He's a lot happier these days but his voice can still strip paint off the walls ☺️
Gotta love Chisel!!! This is definitely the only way this song should be thrashed out…. Last Stand’83’ the bloody best!!!
When interviewed Barnsey said he dearly wanted to be part of the school choir…. They kicked him out…too loud🤣🤣🤣…too funny🤣
Brilliant reaction. So genuine.
Your comments about the band are so right. They were at the top of their game.
Check out, from the same concert, Ian Moss (the guitarist) doing a cover of Georgia on my mind (which Jimmy was off having a break - sobering up). Epic performance which showcases how good they are!
The best rock band ever! I grew up with Chisel and saw them on many a weekend in the Aus pub seen, Each show was exactly like this always 110%
Haha brilliant reaction!
Fantastic performance, how rock concerts should be.
I'm ever so grateful that this was recorded, cos now I get to enjoy watching all the reactions to them and relive that night. They always did give 100% in their live shows and still do when the opportunity arises.
The video of The Last Stand is well worth watching, with interviews and back stage antics as well as excellent live music from the tour.
Haha, Barnsie would be pissed as a newt by the end and then rip his vocal chords to shreds with this in the encore.
Again, welcome to Aussie pub rock 😊
Yes sure makes many artists, pale into insignificance beside them. He was probably on his 2nd bottle of vodka by then. The whole band is so good and so tight they could do this stuff. Lucky enough to see Them Live back in the day. Mossy and Barnesy still going strong.
Haha when i seen your title i thought wow they gonna be in for a blast, Legends. :)
Chip Taylor wrote this for The Wild Ones that went nowhere, then popularised by the Troggs.
But this song was really always written for Jimmy Barnes and Cold Chisel.
The lord works in mysterious ways! :)
You'll have to react to more Cold Chisel. There's so much more.
The Drummer here is the one that actually wrote the song Wild Thing in 86 I think it was, he passed away some 12 years ago. This is Raw Aussie Rock from the 80's it was crazy, these guys grew up playing hard in rowdy Aussie Pubs & Clubs. They did their hard apprenticeships, hey! Jimmy grew up as a teen around the corner from me! We also called them Garage Bands as that's where they practiced for hours!
My parents tell me stories of all the bands they saw. Mega international bands in local pubs. No pokies in sight. 😢
Just some corrections Deb.
1) Steve did not write wild thing , it was written and performed by The Troggs , in the late sixties/early seventies.
3) Finally, Steve could not written the song in 1986 ! The footage of the song was recorded in December 1983 , at last stand.
Three years before Steve apparently wrote it.
I still rate this as one of the greatest live tracks ever - Midnight Oils , Live 'Oils on the Water' probably the only live shows on film that come close.
Just Brilliant.
Two of the best shows I seen were Cold Chisel and Midnight Oil both at separate times at Selina's Coogee
Oils on the Water was peak Midnight Oil. It started going downhill when Pete Gifford left tbh
You two are by far my favourite reactionaries 😊
Wow, thank you so much. Really appreciate it!
The best band ever live
What a concert that was. Chisel last stand. Growing up in Australia in the late 70s to early 90s. There was no better music. ACDC, CHISEL, ANGELS and so on.
This is what rock is all about. This concert was the end of Cold Chisel for quite some time. I will remember this til the day I die. Chisel ruled my world 🌎
Um... wow. I mean... jeez! 😂
Rock on, you two. 🤘😎👍
Man, this is exactly how I remember Chisel.. seen them sooo many times live, in pubs, clubs & concerts, they were THE party band.
Keep em coming guys, love it.
DUDE YOU COMING BACK FOR THE NEXT SONG!!!! AHAHAHAHAHA YOU GUYS ARE HILARIOUS! you have aussie banter!!
One of the best of the time!
Now that’s entertainment 👍🏼❤️🇦🇺
Cold chisel
Georgia on my mind. Do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it!!!!!!!!!
This was their (first) farewell concert. At the time, Cold Chisel were at the peak of their power, and an Australian cultural phenomenon. It is so difficult to convey just how big they were within these shores.
In their wilder days of course. I saw them at this time as a teen in my home town 💥💥💥💥💥💫💯
I was 12 when I first heard The Troggs sing this on the radio and thought it was very different. Then a couple of years later Hendrix did his own 'thing' with it which was really 'wild'. But this is far removed from either of those. Hats off to Chisel and their 70s era of great Aus rock. Cheers ✌
Their most critically acclaimed album is Circus Animals check out some of the tracks on it!! Especially Taipan, Hound dog and Letter to Alan!!
How can you NOT love Cold Chisel? Jimmy, I’m still glad you chilled on the etoh!
Great reaction, luv the chisels 😊
Jimmy treats a stadium likes he's still doing pub gigs :D Out with his fellow musos :D & to think he went on to have a successful Soul career as well & was that smooth voice you heard on the track "When Something is Wrong With My Baby" w/ John Farnham & his Brother in Law, Diesel. Amazing, simply amazing his range & talent. I have tears streaming, the nostalgia & love for Cold Chisel & Jimmy Barnes. Thank you for this Aussie 'memory lane' trip I've been on since I found your channel. I've loved every moment & loved all of your reactions, I hope more people find you & in doing so, find our amazing Australian Talent. Please look into Aussie female artists too :D
You have just witnessed the great Aussie PUB ROCK, Barnsy after a bottle of vodka
Back in 1978. Cold Chisel were backup to Rod Stewart in Melbourne Australia. They just started to come out. Great concert. I think their 1st album ihad was called Breakfast at Sweethearts, which is also a song. Seen him in the Netherlands & Brisbane & my sister also saw him in Scotland. Great performer.
We got to see these blokes in pubs, full on!!
Awesome reaction, guys.😂
The singer Jimmy Barnes is one of the greatest male vocalist’s of all time. Please react to more of him! Also lead guitarist Ian Moss is also a beautiful vocalist p. I loved this reaction, thank you for reacting to Cold Chisel. Australia love them.
Harry thats Jimmy barnes that sang with Joe Bonamassa singing Stone Cold
Love yr reactions, ...
The epitome of Australian pub rock. These blokes were the best band in Australia bar none. Jimmy completely trashed on vodka and could still out perform Acka Dacka (AC/DC), INXS and the rest.
Cold Chisel should have been best Band in the world
I LOVE YOUR REACTIONS!! your funny comments really make the vidoe!! Lol you truly enjoyed his craziness
Alot of vodka was harmed in the making of this performance.
You talk about the stage hands, check out Jimmy's song Driving Wheels. It's dedicated to them, about a truck driver who drove their equipment around.
this song was made back in the 60s
Just ,letting you guys no even better with age Barneseyyyyyyyy👌👍🤘
Mossy is not just a guitarist; he is an accomplished musician in his own right. Check him out. 🙂Great reaction
Jimmy is wasted but still pulls it off
Bloody great thankyou!.👍
I would love to see you guys do a reaction to Kasey Chambers doing a cover of Loose Yourself please
That ain’t beer.
Aussie rock is great!!! Great job guys.
This great Aussie pub rock and we love it. Back in the day if you couldn't play well live in front of an audience they would kill you 😂
I actually grew up with Barnes. He asked me to play guitar in this band but I wasn't brave enough.
You should follow Jimmy and his wife on insta now. Cleaned up and wholesome but still rock it and she learnt the accordian so she could rock out with him
Thats chisel for ya
Should check out goodbye Astrid
Believe it or not. The album wasn't "Last Stand" without a reason. I think the band (at least temporarily) disbanded after that tour. In my opinion their greatest recordings were made in the late 70s and early 80s. Listen to the live double album "Swingshift". These performances were even better 😅
Beer…I doubt beer saw his gullet for a single swallow on the stage!
Hope you understand. Aussies are not bashfull. Just bang it out.
Sorry you kids were a bit late to the Party.
I LOVE your appreciation of our Music Classics.
You are GREAT. 👀
