you may not realize who Jimmy Barnes is - go back to your reviews of Cold Chisel Bow River (2003) & Wild Thing (1983). I'm pretty sure in his day (which is any day in the last 50 years) he would have made an incredible Metal Singer
Jimmy's gravely vocals and Joe's screaming guitar...sooo good! Fantastic song and performance. Jimmy is an Aussie rock legend and Joe's a blues god! They are fantastic together. I think the music is one take and the vocals were recorded separately since Jim has a red shirt when seen through the window of the sound booth and a white one on close ups.. though may just be the tint on the glass.. either way this is brilliant!
Joe has a collection of 400 guitars and 400 amps. He bought and plays the guitar of the legendary Albert King. He just had a sale of some of his guitars 🎸 . He does that occasionally to make rum for more. The drummer is Jimmy's son Jackie. You don't see them but his daughters are singing backup.
Jimmy has been performing with quality rock bands since the mid 1970's when he replaced his brother as leed singer of Cold Chisel. Although performing mostly with his family these days, we can always expect another album . Now he is out of hospital after heart surgery, he is already back performing with the same voice at nearly 70 yo.... ( think he is now late 60's, maybe about 67 or 68 ? )
You also loved him singing with John Farnham. They did "when something is wrong with my baby" . Jimmy is a double inductee into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) hall of fame as part of Cold Chisel and as a solo artist.
Brilliant reaction. Written by Don Walker (from Cold Chisel fame). Love the ending as it winds down. Just a beautiful song, superbly performed Jimmy and Joe. Joe's guitar's name is 'Phoenix' as it was restored (Phoenix rising from the ashes....).
And not just Les Pauls. All types of collectable guitars and previously owned by famous performers. Certain models of Les Paul guitars can be pushing a quarter million dollars depending on vintage, model, and previous owner.
Probably the closest to metal. In 2002, Jimmy started on the hard road to sobriety. A side project with friends from different corners of the world resulted in the heavy metal combo Living Loud and a self titled album in 2004.
The Barnse's have done a lot of work with Joe . Mahalia , Jimmy's daughter has done a lot of backing vocals for Joe and a few lead singing like Riding with the King , and Jackie Barns played the drums on this track . There seems to be a great connection there.
My all-time favourite Barnsey song. "Working Class Man" is a rocking good song, To top it all off, his daughter, Mahalia inherited those incredible pipes. You should check her out as well. Love your reactions. Thanks.
One thing I'll add if I may, is that Barnsey's kids were in a group called "The Tin Lids" a long time back now, but I always enjoyed them performing on TV
You really should check out Joe Bonomassa & Beth Hart performing "I'd Rather Go Blind" Live in Amsterdam. Joe Bonomassa performing "Midnight Blues" live at the Beacon Theater is amazing too!
That guitar is a 1954 Gibson Les Paul Gold top. Similar is currently on eBay for almost $50,000. Some are valued at the equivalent of a posh house at $400.000. I saw Joe play in Huntsville, AL last month and he most have played 12 different (vintage) guitars. His collection is ridiculous.
This was John’s arrangement on a classic song. John is the greatest and most versatile male vocalist of all time. If you go down the John Farnham rabbit hole you’ll never get out. But always try to listen to John live, that’s where he really shines.
Jimmy is jimmy but can surprise you with what he can sing. As far as something that he shouldn't do, check out his performance at the APRA awards of Sia's - 'Chandelier;' When Sia pulled out at the last minute, Jimmy was called up with two days notice and came up with this - blows me away. Hits that little bit harder when you know Jimmy's history (long time sober now) and the subject matter. ruclips.net/video/AO6ZYH8WWYc/видео.html&ab_channel=Moshcam
Jimmy does a really wide range of music. You have seen him in Cold Chisel of course. I'm sure someone could find him doing something pretty heavy from one of his many collaborations. Even his collaboration with the Living End? Or him doing Deep Purple (with and without Joe)? There were also a couple of live shows where he did some heavy stuff... I am having a bit of a mental blank right now though.
He has done a blues album (awesome) His early stuff is a lot more rocky. Check out the stuff he did with Cold Chisel (awesome) Also the stuff he did with another Aussie icon John Farnham. I saw him in concert with Cold Chisel back in the early days. Towards the end of the main set He had polished of a 750 of Vodka then started the second, they came out for the encore and then did 4to5 (old memory) more encores, On the last encore they had run out of material, so they brought back the warm up band and just had a jam session. Jimmy tossed his half finished bottle of Vodka out into the crowd about halfway trough the last encore and then picked up another which he left with at the end of the encore. In my top 3 concerts back then. Jimmy has had a few health problems as of late, but is recovering well and is on a bit of a health kick now.
Guys if I could make a comment I would say respectfully, please don't interrupt the song! Let it go through and then comment. Also just keep listening to Cold Chisel from the mid 70's onward. Every album is a cracker! Then look for Jimmy and John Farnham duets
You might want to check out Jimmy Singing ACDC High Voltage live. I've tried finding one with good sound but am struggling a bit. Hopefully with your equipment you can find one.
The range? Your listening to one of the greatest vocalists of all time…enjoy the privilege …. Don’t let geography, ignorance or anything else deflect from the facts 😉
just a question, but why do you stop at the wrong time during a reaction! A lot of reactionaries do the same thing! It's very frustrating, to be honest! I appreciate your thoughts, but wouldn't it be better until the end of the song?
FFS if your going to be rude enough to pause a LEGEND in mid stream, the least you can do is rewind 10 seconds after your waffle as a sign of RESPECT 👎🏼
If you want another "one take wonder" see Adele in Amsterdam doing an early "instant" studio version of Rolling in the Deep. Far better than her "official video" or concert versions to my mind !
This would actually be called Blue Eyed Soul.. but yes still bluesy.. I am a "still playing" GEN X bass player who grew up with the "classics" LZ, DP, BS, etc etc. But I love ANY great music, from classical, soul, the right jazz, even pop!! Bach to Barnes to Bacharach!! Hi, liked and subscribed from Jimmys home town, in Adelaide, South Australia.. (and thats his son Jackie playing drums, and his daughters on backing vox) His band was Cold Chisel.. Possibly the BEST AUSSIE PUB ROCK BAND THERE IS.. Look for Flame Trees, Saturday Night, Forever Now, Bow River, Khe Sahn, When The War Is Over (John Farnham Version or original) etc etc Joe Bonamassa is RIPPING the Les Paul on this. One of the best guitar solos EVER.... TONE...... He has a massive music collection check out his site Nerdsville..
You already know what he is like with rock backing. He is the lead singer of Cold Chisel and you guys adored "Wild Thing."
Yes they did not click onto that
Plus they need to hear heaps more of Jimmy and Chisel
They’ve done Bow River too
i dont think they realize its Jimmy because hes so much older in this
Joe is the jimmy of guitar playing and Jimmy is the Joe of singing. Perfect combo.

Jimmy is like a fine wine, just keeps getting better.
Fine wine poured over gravel! Amazing voice.
Jimmy is an old school pub rocker, hence the edge to his voice. Now listen to Jimmy's daughter Mahalia Barnes with Joe doing "Riding with the Kings".
Yes. That’s awesome
Two masters of their craft combining to make fantastic music. Bloody brilliant.
you bloody right mate
This song was written By Don Walker, the keyboard player for Cold Chisel. P.S. Mahalia Barnes has been a backing singer for Joe
His son on the drums, his daughter on backing vocals
Jimmy's gravely vocals and Joe's screaming guitar...sooo good!
Fantastic song and performance. Jimmy is an Aussie rock legend and Joe's a blues god! They are fantastic together.

I believe the guitar Joe is playing is his 1959 Gibson Les Paul he calls Lazarus . He also has a 1954 Gibson Les Paul with P-90s
You also loved him singing with John Farnham. They did "when something is wrong with my baby" . Jimmy is a double inductee into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) hall of fame as part of Cold Chisel and as a solo artist.

Nice to see Sharlene wearing an Aussie Company T-shirt "RipCurl". Goes perfectly with a Jimmy Barnes song. Cheers from Oz.
Iconic Australian Jimmy Barnes good react ❤
BTW, it's Jimmy's son Jackie on drums in this video. Jimmy is 54 in this clip.
Love Jimmy. ❤️
Joe Bonamassa famously has the biggest collection of vintage Les Pauls in the world.
And not just Les Pauls. All types of collectable guitars and previously owned by famous performers. Certain models of Les Paul guitars can be pushing a quarter million dollars depending on vintage, model, and previous owner.
Joes guitar collections is crazy, there is actually a YT video touring his guitar museum and tells some stories about some of his purchases.
Jim’s 68 now still the best
Your stuttering said it all.....brilliance in action.
One of my favorites!!!❤❤❤
Best Aussie singer
Probably the closest to metal. In 2002, Jimmy started on the hard road to sobriety. A side project with friends from different corners of the world resulted in the heavy metal combo Living Loud and a self titled album in 2004.
Yes, that would be something for them to look at!
The blues had a baby and they called it rock n roll
The Barnse's have done a lot of work with Joe . Mahalia , Jimmy's daughter has done a lot of backing vocals for Joe and a few lead singing like Riding with the King , and Jackie Barns played the drums on this track . There seems to be a great connection there.
WOW!!!
Great Voice
My all-time favourite Barnsey song. "Working Class Man" is a rocking good song, To top it all off, his daughter, Mahalia inherited those incredible pipes. You should check her out as well. Love your reactions. Thanks.
Jimmy was one of the early considerations to replace David Lee Roth in Van Halen - that wouldve been interesting
Also was approached to replace Bon Scott
I’ve played for years…I’m a rocker SRV and Joe? I feel like I’ve played for two years after watching them…..smooth and powerful
One thing I'll add if I may, is that Barnsey's kids were in a group called "The Tin Lids" a long time back now, but I always enjoyed them performing on TV
Our Jimmy 4 1/2 octaves of sheer power grit passion and soul! 😂❤ Jimmy was in rock band Cold Chisel legendary here in Australia ❤
Great reaction!
Check out their cover of Lazy (Deep Purple) Awesome!!
This one more up your alley.
You are right cold chisel Jimmy is part of this band
You really should check out Joe Bonomassa & Beth Hart performing "I'd Rather Go Blind" Live in Amsterdam. Joe Bonomassa performing "Midnight Blues" live at the Beacon Theater is amazing too!

Tha guitar is called Lazarus by Joe I read. Very appropriate with the voice of Jimmy.
so speaceful nice voice i like it 👍☺
Daaang...! 🤘😎👍

Thank You for doing this reaction, May I suggest taking a peek at : Simply the Best with Tina Turner and Jimmy Barnes. It aint bad
Distorted Jazz😂 Jimmy, Joe, and the band. Phenomenal...🤙☝️🙂
Need to listen to their cover of the Deep Purple song “ Lazy “
That specific guitar is 6 figures, so yeah. A pretty nice car, indeed.
Great reaction guys. If you want to hear Jimmy do more of a hard rock song then you should check out driving wheels. Live version!
Jimmy going hard, try Wild Thing live cover he did with Cold Chisel. Well worth it. Young Jimmy too.
They did Wild Thing and Bow River. I don't think they realise it was Jimmy Barnes out of Cold Chisel.
Please guys enjoy the rabbit hole that is Jimmy Barnes
He's had a fowelling since the 60s
Try”when Something’s Wrong with my Baby” with Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham. . .essential.
You can check out our channel for that reaction 😄
You *NEED* to watch Jimmy do "Wild Thing" in his Cold Chisel days... Yes you Do. 😊
They have done it. They both loved it.
there is a DVD where he does ozzy songs and deep purple with bob daisley and steve morse .....forget what its called
Jimmy is jimmy but can surprise you with what he can sing. As far as something that he shouldn't do, check out his performance at the APRA awards of Sia's - 'Chandelier;'

Jimmy’s rendition of Chandelier is gorgeous and haunting, as a sober alcoholic who used to just be an extreme alcoholic.
Check out Joe and Jimmy's cover of the song "Lazy"

4:48 Not sure if you noticed, but you may have heard a collective slap on the forehead from all the Aussies watching this video.
I like to listen to this and Stan Walker “I Am” once a week at least ❤❤
He has done a blues album (awesome) His early stuff is a lot more rocky. Check out the stuff he did with Cold Chisel (awesome) Also the stuff he did with another Aussie icon John Farnham. You should find video of how Jimmy does his vocal warmups
There is nothing wrong with jazz, there are top class musicians that play it, just as there is in all styles.
U should look at Jimmy's 1994 version of stone cold
Guys if I could make a comment I would say respectfully, please don't interrupt the song! Let it go through and then comment. Also just keep listening to Cold Chisel from the mid 70's onward. Every album is a cracker! Then look for Jimmy and John Farnham duets

Go listen to Cold Chisel from the 70's - 80's to hear Jimmy singing rock
Just shows how niave you guys are. Jimmy's and Australian rock legend. Do your ho.ework
Review Jimmy Barnes Working Class Man, probably his most well known solo song you will love it.
Take a listen to Joe and Jimmy doing the deep purple song lazy and then you will see what he can do on a rock song you will love it
you gotta do 'lazy' -- possibly from the same session
I don’t know where they did this ..don’t care…felt like Baton Rouge or Mississippi all day
"If he had the backing of a real Rock Band" 🙄 Does Cold Chisel ring a bell ? 😏
@patriciadawson - you tell em girl🤣👍🏻👏
He is in fact stone cold in love with his wife Jane.
Check these two doing "Lazy" by Deep Purple
Duane Allman's 57 gold top les paul sold for 1.25 million . That would buy you one hell of a car.lol
You like musician's watch their deep purple cover lazy amazing
U want to see metal jimmy go watch wild thing best live act Eva trust me
van halen wanted jimmy when david lee roth was sacked he said no. would have been interesting
Ripcurl, started by 2 guys in Torquay, Victoria, in 1969!! Aussie surf brand REPRESENT!! #RIPCURL
raspy singing started with black music from new orleans long before you was a twinkle in your mommas eyes.
The range? Your listening to one of the greatest vocalists of all time…enjoy the privilege …. Don’t let geography, ignorance or anything else deflect from the facts 😉
Jimmy Barnes and Ripcurl. Try and get any more Aussie than that.
just a question, but why do you stop at the wrong time during a reaction! A lot of reactionaries do the same thing! It's very frustrating, to be honest! I appreciate your thoughts, but wouldn't it be better until the end of the song?
Yes it would but for copyright reasons we have to stop the video during the course of the song
I'd rather have a V8 bakky than a beemer any day.
nah - couldnt see jimmy barnes doing anything heavy... 😅
Whos mr sweedish bro, hes Aussie 🤔🇭🇲🦘
Please put your phones away when reacting for a whole 7 minutes.
FFS if your going to be rude enough to pause a LEGEND in mid stream, the least you can do is rewind 10 seconds after your waffle as a sign of RESPECT 👎🏼
Chill!
FFS look who is being rude now show some respect will you for god's sake
If you want another "one take wonder" see Adele in Amsterdam doing an early "instant" studio version of Rolling in the Deep. Far better than her "official video" or concert versions to my mind !
This isn't one take. There's a few lines where the guitar doesn't match what Joe is playing, and Jimmy's shirt changes colour.
Neither 1 of use listen to the words BIG L from Australian fans….
For gods sake don’t keep interrupting it’s ruining the flow
If you don't want interruptions, don't watch reaction videos. Simple!
Yeah Mate you can just go watch the original over on Jimmy's channel with no interruptions if that's what you like😊
FFS they are not called reaction videos for nothing you know go watch the original video if you don't like it
Way to much talking shite and pausing every 10 seconds
This would actually be called Blue Eyed Soul.. but yes still bluesy..
