The issue is the Suzuki's give good build quality for global variants but poor built on Indian variants , the reason maybe of cost cutting to make it budget friendly , but still the jimmy seems to be good
Being a Grand Vitara AWD owner who has done Himachal trip in snowy roads, I can surely say that Jimny Manual with Allgrip pro is going to be a bad ass off-road car, add the eye catching assessories and you will have a magnificently capable beast!

the 4 speed TC box is a peculiar one and here is how you use it - Put in Drive mode and just drive. Put in L mode and it will ensure to use the 1st gear only Put in 2 mode and it will ensure to lock the gear to 2nd only Put in D mode with OverDrive Activated and that will ensure that maximum gear this car can achieve is 3rd. Put in D mode with OverDrive Deactivated and that will ensure that maximum gear this car can achieve is 4th (which is the topmost). This isn't like the usual 6speed TC with paddle shifter and Manual Mode.

People buy thar for her Character(Performance is by default) and that didn't came overnight so will be true in case of Jimny. If MS launches the Jimny with proper pricing it is surely going put up a tough competition to Thar because in my opinion this is looking more promising in terms of reliability, performance, character(will take some time to develop) and importantly that luxurious touch with rusting interiors(no plastic roof) & Ride quality. Plus point is you can sleep in this vehicle if you are on an expedition or some sort of adventure as opposed to Thar.
I have a family of three and drive a Honda WRV diesel currently. My options: 1. Keep the WRV and go for a Jimny base variant as a lifestyle vehicle. 2. Sell the WRV and go for a Grand Vitara Allgrip. If MSIL anyway wanted to position this as a 'premium' & niche product, not expecting much sales; why go through such a long & tedious process of design & engineering over the past few years to develop the 5-D, why not just sell the 3-D as is & price it slightly lower? And if they've now made the 5-D, then why aren't they offering a lower priced 2WD variant & selling more of them? Another one being the fact that it's under 4m in length but they only offer the 1.5L engine, they could've atleast given the option of the 1.2L & the 1L turbo. (Ditto for the Brezza) Just offer all these, milk the product as much as you can, sell it like hot-cakes & earn more moolah; It's a win-win situation for both the consumer & Maruti, them not doing so confuses me to no end! In my ideal world, (one can always dream!) they should've had the following variants & engines on offer for 3-D as well as 5-D: 1L turbo 1.2L 1L turbo, without 4x4 1.2L, without 4x4 Also the Kei-car version spec (no flared wheel arches) for the people who will use it on narrow city roads) And yes I know making so many different combinations isn't feasible for a manufacturer
