For those thinking about Turbo in an offroader should remember that Turbo is for speeds!
Turbo was created for race cars back in 1962.
An offroader does not need to go fast. It's meant for entirely different purpose.
The high ground clearance design is not meant for speeds or the car will just topple and roll over at a slight flick of the steering wheel at high speeds.
(Google "moose test"- which is another test for cars apart from crash test)
Ironically, most of the cars in the current Indian market will fail miserably at "Moose test" due to the ongoing SUV design craze.
All race/sports cars have minimal ground clearance to keep the centre of gravity as low as possible so as to maintain stability. Civic had a GC of 135mm for the same reason.
SUVs and Off-roaders are designed for anything but speed.
The increased height keeps the centre-of-gravity high causing it prone to topple over.
Force Gurkha doesn't go fast either.
Gurkha's 2.6L engine (sourced from Mercedes) delivers just 90bhp but 250Nm of torque.
Please get a sedan if you're looking specifically for doing speeds.
    Drive safe!✌️

As per reviews, Jimny is much better for highways than Thar as far as ride and handling is concerned.
But as power is lesser than Thar, cruising at 100KMPH is the nature of engine, don't expect 120+ speeds easy......low end torque of course is good.

I was really thinking to buy one with auto transmission, especially after current december discounts but the main thing that's stopping me is the power of the engine, it's absolutely pathetic and anyone who justifies 77.098Kw of power and 134.2Nm of torque on this vehicle is a moron. They are also offering 4 speed auto in 2023 🤦, did they went back in time or something. Overseas it might have worked well, firstly being a 3 door so better power to weight ratio and most folks that buy it only use it as a recreational vehicle and it sits in the garage most of the time, not as a daily driver. In India most people don't have that kinda income or luxury. Yes one can go for a manul and install a turbo kit but that would obviously bring the price up ( which some can tolerate) but it will void the warranty.

Perfect review. Completely agree with you. We travel often to our other house in a rural area where road connectivity is not great and the Jimny handles those barely-there roads very well. I'm also happy with it as my primary city car. I should add that I'm also getting daily proof of the Jimny's off-roading capacity within the city itself due to massive potholes, waterlogging and generally terrible road conditions this monsoon 😅

    2. Solid rigid axles on front and rear
    3. 210 mm GC and high centre of gravity
    4.Proper 4*4 drivetrain
5.Boxy design and thus zero aerodynamics
With all these things to consider . If people are expecting it to behave like a normal hatchback or sedan in handling( ladder frame vs monocoque) or top speed or 1 v 1 race( seriously with a boxy design ?) or comfort( this will bounce and have bodyroll) , then they are next level fools😂 . It is meant for rough terrain🔥 and will perform good there, its never going to be like a normal car 😂at all in roads. But still if cars with similar setup(above 5 points) are considered , I guess this one will be a bit better than them . Anyway final verdict after test ride .

Bro, Turbo is for speeds!

@@theBartSimpson Probably you misunderstood because my comment ws more emotional 😂😂
I am not looking for a racer/sedan but surely I am also not looking for a 4WD that I cannot trust even with 100-120 KMPH cruising stable speeds.
If driving at 100 on highways, I am going to have issues overtaking because power delivery is lacking, it makes this a difficult decision for me.
Think Thar, that is a very capable 4WD but also with enough power for highway runs, but I need more practicality as my drives can be fairly long.
So Jimny dimensions suit me perfect, for the villages, hilly areas etc. I travel, except the low engine power because a lot of my long journeys also cover plains, not only mountains or treacherous routes.
It is not about Jimny really, and I have nothing against that. It is just my requirements and there seem to be many like me who need dependable 4WDs/AWDs not for off-roading but for long journeys
That requires proper power on highways while 4WD can be used on muddy, snow, or other terrains.
India seriously lacks dependable automatic petrol AWD/4WD compact/midsize SUVs with enough power below 20L range.

After viewing most of the reviews, its really sad that this can only be used as a secondary car & not as only car in tbe family. Disappointing stuff from Suzuki.

Anything over 10 lakhs OTR is overpriced for this car. Thar is a better VFM product than this in that sceanrio. Good video V3Cars.
